Review from Lydia NYC (future host on airbnb)
An int'l pilot in her previous life & a proud Corsican, you'd never find a more passionate host in assuring that her guests get the fullest experience. Centrally located in Bastia, her apt is v. comfy, superclean & has a beautiful view + has wifi,. She's the only host who goes out of her way for guests: she picks up & drops off guests from & to the port or airport. She'll find you a room if she's full; she even drove us around other towns sightseeing after work or between her lessons or on a day off & gives history & interesting stories. She enjoys sitting down w/you @ BF& chat to get to know you better. She's a great source of eats, best family owned ice cream parlor, all activities w/in the island & so forth. She'd even help you find another b&b in other towns, rent boats, cars, camping sites,& everything you could think of.She's well connected. knows everyone& vice versa She runs an English social club, the only one I've ever heard of in France, where she takes you out w/ her adult students( learning English) to a wonderful typical Corsican meal w/great local wines & we found this to be a terrific way of meeting locals-they were all so,so jovial that time flew & we did not want the evening to end.She boasts about her luck in getting only the best guests but it's only true because you end up loving her the minute you meet her. People return just to be w/her, I'm one of them.
Amazing experience! Marido was a life saver for me! So helpful with getting around the island and what to see/where to go! Amazing connections and very fun English club!
Beautiful balcony for meals.
Will definitely return.
Thank you Marido!!!!
Marie-Do picked us up at the bus station and gave us a ride to the coach station in the early morning when we were leaving. She even prepared breakfast for us, although it was before eight o'clock am. The apartment was very clean and has a very nice balcony. Marie-Do helps her guests with everything, if you need tipps for a trip or accomodation in another city, you can just ask her and she will handle it for you. That's very nice and we didn't take that for granted but as a sign of Marie-Do's great hospitality. Thanks again, Marie-Do, our stay at Corsica was amazing!
Marie-Dominique was an incredibly helpful host whom I'd highly recommend for those coming to Bastia. Her place was impeccably clean, and I enjoyed on my first night the treat of joining "English Club," during which I met her students as we sat around drinking wine and eating Corsican specialties (I still fantasize about that Corsican sheep milk cheese!). She also hooked me up with what might possibly be the only automatic car in Corsica (the only way I could get around as I do not drive a manual transmission)—without it I believe my trip could easily have been much more difficult.
Marie-Dominique was so nice and welcoming, we had a wonderful time at her place! We had only three days in Bastia but she helped us make the most of it. She brought us to great seafood restaurants, gave us loads of practical advice and information and took the time to drive us all around the Cape Corse, and to the beach. In addition to all that, we met other wonderful people at her place. We could not have wished for more! Thank you Marie-Do!!!
Really nice to spend that two nights in Bastia in this beatiful appartment. Great Welcome from Marie-Dominique and great Hospitality. I think i'll going to miss the breakfast chat about Corsica, Food, Cinema, Airplanes and Politics. Really a good experience and Marie-Dominique is a really nice person.
Marie-Dom is a great host, even though she's almost too busy for her own good! She's really accommodating and tries to make the best of the situation for all. The bed was a bit small for us two girls to stretch out properly, but for a night it was fine. Wifi, great breakfast (mostly foods from Corsica), would stay here again if I'm back in Bastia!
