Raffaele was a wonderful host! The apartment was beautiful and in a great location. I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a great stay on the Amalfi Coast.
Four of us (2 adults, 2 older teenagers) spent a week here. We were very impressed with both Raffaele and the apartment. He greeted us as arranged and explained all we needed to know. It was very clean and spacious - and a refreshing change for our boys not to have to share a small sofa bed together. One on the double sofa bed, one in his own room in a single bed. The master bedroom had a decent-sized, comfy bed and aircon, though the breeze meant we preferred fresh air most of the time. The pool was really clean, had a lifeguard and was never overcrowded. Bliss. We feel it important to counter Mitch's damning review: Yes, there are many, many steps. If you don't like steps, don't stay in this area - research of the area before booking would have explained this. Yes, the bus which goes all the way to the apartment runs infrequently , but down a couple of hundred steps and you reach a half-hourly service. Take the steps slowly, never rush and you learn to enjoy them. They are part of the town's attraction. The bus is a good, reliable service (ask Raffaele to explain the 2 services). Water taxis are a nice change too, if travelling across to Sorrento, though more expensive. The Circumvesuviana train was easy to use. Would recommend a boat trip along the coast. Da Costantino restaurant just across the road is also highly recommended. The small shop is good for food (amazing watermelon!) and an experience to be had. The pictures and description of the flat are accurate and the area beautiful. The view from the balcony is amazing. If you like the option to get away from the crowds, want to feel safe and do not mind some exercise, then this is a great place to stay. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Me and my family (4 of us) stayed at Raffaele's apartment for 3 weeks. It was a truly wonderful experience! It is a lovely, clean apartment with a spectacular view. A safe, gated complex with security. The pool was a life saver - clean, huge, and never too busy. Wonderful lifeguard who is attentive and helpful.
It is located about a 30/40 minute walk from the centre of Positano. Though there are many steps and hills, we loved the exercise! Raffaele was very helpful and prompt at responding to any questions we had throughout the entire 3 weeks which was wonderful. Great restaurants nearby (specifically Da Costantino) where we ate most dinners and were very quickly treated like family. This restaurant is literally 5 minutes from the apartment. There are many gems to discover while staying here. From morning coffee at Bar Internacionale (about a 15 minute walk) to the little fruit markets that give you the real Positano feel!
Excellent apartment and Raffaele was a pleasure to work with!
We loved staying in this apartment. The views were amazing, it was clean, comfortable and the pool was divine. There was even air conditioning in the master bedroom. Raffaele was a wonderful host that spent a great deal of time making sure we knew the area well and had everything we needed.
There's the best market across the street with very fresh produce at mind-boggling low prices, and the wine... 1.80 for delicious wine. I thought it would be horrible, but it was the best white we had all over Italy.
Also, we LOVED Da Costantina across the street. We ate there four nights. The owner is a character. If you like very fresh grilled seafood and amazing pasta, eat here. You will have a long traditional Italian dinner, do not expect to get out in an hour. If you stay down at the bottom of town, they will have a car drive down and pick you up for free.
We thoroughly enjoyed Raffele's apartment in Positano. The view was absolutely magnificent and the swimming pool overlooking both the town and the sea was fantastic. The apartment is a long, difficult climb from the beach, about 20 minutes long, which my wife and I made a few times due to our frustration with waiting for the bus, but other than the walk, the apartment was great. We also had our young children (ages 3 and 5) and my mother (72). None of them could've handled all of the steps it takes to get from Positano to the apartment, but with the pool and a terrific restaurant (Il Costantino) a short walk away, they were perfectly happy to stay at the apartment for three days. Thanks, Rafaelle and Positano for a great trip to one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in Rafaelle's apartment. Is very well equipped with all that you need and fantastic views. Rafaelle was very helpful, assisted us with directions and returned us to Sorrento to catch the train. The da Constantini restaurant opposite the apartment has really good food, very good prices and spectacular views of Positano. Helpful
My wife and I have used Airbnb many times and have always been pleased with our accommodations. We have also recieved several positive reviews from owners. As such, it was a shock to have the NEGATIVE experience we did at this apartment, especially after reading all the positive reviews of it. Unfortunately, I must HIGHLY RECOMMEND AGAINST renting this apartment. Here are just a few of the reasons:
1. The apartment is well out of the town of Positano and you must drive on a very dangerous road to access it. The regular Positano bus service does not reach the complex. The only bus that runs by it is infrequent and unreliable. There are about 1000 (yes one thousand) stairs between the apartment and Positano.
2. While Raffaele was kind, he was late both in meeting us at the apartment, and he never showed up when he said he would to pick up the keys the day we were leaving, delaying our departure.
3. The advertisement stated that the apartment complex has a pool. We visited in late May, only to find out the pool did not open until June 1st, and then only when the weather was good (apparently sunny and 25 Celsius isn't good enough). This felt highly misleading to us as we paid quite a premium for an apartment with a pool.
In sum, we must recommend against this apartment: it is far out of town, difficult to access, the manager is poorly organized, and you can find better accommodations, closer in town, for better prices. I hope this message helps the Airbnb community avoid the same mistake we made.
We had a wonderful time at Raggaele's home in Positano. The apartment is up above the town of Positano, luckily we had a car as the bus schedule back up the hill can be a little sporadic. The apartment was perfect for us, and Raffaele gave us some great ideas on things to do and places to eat. There were three amazing restaurants very close to the apartment which we would highly recommend (Da Constantino, Il Ritrovo and La Tagliata). We would definitely recommend Raffaele's place if you are looking for a place on the Amalfi Coast, it was easy to day trip to the surrounding towns. Maurizio, the jovial man who is the guard at the complex during the day was very nice, he even drove us down to Positano to catch the ferry to Capri so we didn't have to pay 4 euro an hour to park in town. The only downside of the apartment is that it does not have WiFi which we really needed, but managed to get by with using WiFi at places in town. Thanks Raffaele!
Raffaele was an excellent host and was extremely friendly. He kindly offered us a lift from the train station in Sorrento, and gave us a thorough show round of the apartment. Would highly recommend - is a lovely apartment overlooking the coast and very handy to bus stops locally and the sita bus for along the coast.
Within the apartment, it contained everything we were after and allowed us to self sufficient during our stay. We did find it a little chilly, but as this was in the middle of winter, this had to be expected, and heaters / extra blankets were also provided
