  • The good news is the location if perfect and the host lovely. The bad news is almost everything else was disappointing. The space is so full of the owner's
possession's and clutter it was difficult to relax. The bedroom does have two dressers but only one empty drawer. Even the space under the bed is used for owner's storage. Nice bath tub and shower but old soap shampoo left from owner
or previous guest. Shelves and cabinet full of stuff. Sheets and towels circa 1980. Kitchen area not very clean or functional. Overall the studio did not feel guest ready. Fortunately the weather was warm and we could use the screen porch.

  • Jill's little studio is great. Has everything you need in cool SoCo neighborhood. She was totally cool and professional. Highly recommend! :)

  • Jill is an amazingly kind host! In the chaos of SXSW she even offered to drives us places, set everything up perfect, left us a bottle of wine, supplied an extra heater on a cold night, and made sure everything went off without a hitch. In nice weather the outdoor porch is a dream and the outdoor shower was the perfect thing to wake us up in the morning. Beds were comfy and kitchen had everything you needed! On the day that it rained she left us umbrellas. It was a great stay!

  • My sister and I had an incredible time in Austin staying at Jill's lovely place. Jill and her kids were extremely accommodating and ensured we were well taken care of. We were in town for the Austin City Limits festival and loved every minute of it despite the unfortunate weather conditions. Jill was even able to drop us off at the festival on one of the days. My sister and I are huge foodies and Jill's recommendations did not disappoint (Torchy's Tacos, Magnolia Cafe, Bouldin Creek Cafe)! Where do I even begin on Jill's place...it was the perfect place for a getaway. I fell in love with the screen porch and definitely want one in my future home. I also loved the outdoor shower, it was such a liberating experience! Her place had everything we needed: beds, fresh linens, towels, kitchen, bathroom, shower, refrigerator, and WiFi. She even graciously provided some food and drinks and in the fridge! Another plus was her home's location; it was walking distance to SoCo and SoFi. Downtown also wasn't far away which made for a nice stroll. I highly recommend Jill's place!! This was an experience I will never forget...from staying on the screen porch, to taking the pedicabs, dancing at the festival in relentless rain, scouring the city for pop up shows when ACL was canceled on Sunday, and delicious food of course! Thanks so much Jill, Larisa, and Sergey for hosting us! I hope to be back soon =) -Rianne

  • Having Jill's studio as a base for a calm SXSW (in the company of my 4 year old) was just perfect. The space is very charming and has everything you might need: a kitchenette, a lovely bathroom with a bath tub and of course the outdoors shower that we loved! Sleeping out on the screen porch was great - now one of my goals in life is to live somewhere where i can sleep on a screen porch and listen to the birds waking up in the morning!! Beautiful!
Jill provided stuff in the fridge for us: milk, bagels, juice, beer etc. - so sweet and thoughtful and extremely helpful when we woke up the first morning when we had gotten in from europe really late the previous night. She and her kids also provided fresh towels and bed linen from time to time. They were very hospitable and had loads of tips for the area and Austin in general.
My son thoroughly enjoyed the Big Stacy pool which is just a short stroll from Jill's place - a year-round free public swimming pool which is really well taken care of. And in general we loved the neighborhood very much - SoCo is the place to be in Austin it seems! Good restaurants and fun shopping right around the corner and still the house feels like a calm oasis. Plus it's quite close to downtown.
So to sum it up: we loved it here and would not hesitate to visit again. And I'd definitely recommend staying here to anyone... beats staying at a hotel by many, many miles!

  • Jill's place was a fantastic place to stay in Austin. The outdoor shower was thoroughly invigorating in November and a great way to wake up in the morning! The location is amazing, and now that I've seen Austin I think SoCo is the best area to have as a home base for tourists. Jill was a fantastic host as the other reviews have already stated, providing us with everything from activity recommendations to a kitchen stocked with necessities like coffee, tea, oatmeal, fruit, bottled water, beer and wine!

  • 5th trip to Austin and hands down the best I've had yet. I have never stayed in the SOCO area before, and I won't stay anywhere else again, thanks to both Jill and the awesome neighborhood just outside the doors.

About Jill/the apt: What an amazing place to stay! The screened sleeping porch, outdoor shower, bagels, coffee and bananas waiting for us - Jill was definitely a great host and the apartment was such a pleasure to stay in! She was so very helpful throughout out stay and her apartment is very comfortable.

About the neighborhood: We actually struggled getting to ACL every day because of how much there was to do. AMAZING shopping, food, coffee, pizza, bike rides - everything just outside the door!

I'll be back to Jill's place. Including for ACL next year, so don't even try it :)

  • Jill was a wonderful host and very helpful. She showed me around Austin, helped me get to Austin City Limits, and made sure that I had all the accommodations I needed. Her bungalow is amazing and beautiful. I highly recommend staying with her and if I travel to Austin again, I will definitely be seeking her establishment again. Thank you so much, Jill! I had an amazing time!

About
Hi. We live downstairs from this studio with private entrance. We enjoy living in the hubbub of Austin just 2 blocks from many restaurants and entertainments yet is is a quiet older neighborhood with many old oak trees. I'm a musician with a band in Austin called the Studebakers(look us up!) I'm a clinical psychotherapist and also own and manage other home rentals. Besides music, yoga, the outdoors, reading are my favorite pastimes. This studio has a lot of personality. There are antiques and my band memorabilia. I live here except when I rent it out mostly for festivals and long visits. We enjoy hosting and meeting people from all over the world..
