Jill's apartment was just perfect to stay during the super busy days of SXSW. House is on a quiet street so you can escape the crazyness of the festival but still you're only few streets away from the South Congress which takes you downtown in a moment. Also very good restaurants and bars just nearby the house!
Jill and her family were so nice and welcoming and it was a pleasure to arrive the the apartment after the super long flight from Europe. With your own entrance you have all the privacy you need. I also found the outdoor shower so refreshing every morning! Shower under the Texas sun, just perfect! And if the weather is good you have option also to sleep on the outside terrace...what could be better?!
I can highly recommend Jill's place for everybody!
A really fantastic experience in a super area of South Austin. Highly recommended.
Jill was a really terrific host, very welcoming and great to deal with when arranging and then even better to meet in person.
Tremendous shops, bars, clubs and resturants all within a few minutes' walk and close to Downtown Austin too.
A really cool neighbourhood that's great to explore...some very nice trees!
Thanks so much, Jill, I really, really enjoyed meeting you ...maybe even see you again before I leave town.
Very best wishes to you and the children.
Jill is an amazing host! She is very welcoming. My best friend and I stayed there for ACL and she had nice tips for us as well as beer/wine/snacks in fridge and coffee as well.
Her place is adorable and full of character! There is a screened in porch/bedroom area where we slept the first night. AMAZING! Also, the outdoor shower is really cool.
Can't wait to go back:))
My girlfriend and I stayed at Jill's home during our visit to Austin this fall. Jill was a fantastic host. First off - Her home was even more impressive than the listing described. It's nestled in a quiet little area right off Congress Ave. It's easily walkable to all the SoCo attractions and not too far of a walk to downtown or Zilker Park/Barton Springs, either. Her outdoor screen porch is a wonderful place to relax (and even sleep). And the indoor accommodations provided all the comforts of home and then some (i.e. awesome outdoor shower!!!!). Upon arrival, Jill left adequate signage to spot the place and find our way inside. Once inside, we discovered that she had not only left us generous provisions for our travels, but detailed tips for navigating the area, too. Jill was staying downstairs during our visit, but we definitely felt like we had our privacy. We interacted with her sporadically throughout our visit as we came and went. She and her family are wonderful people. You will enjoy interacting with them if you have the opportunity. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay at Jill's again during a future visit to Austin.
Thank you Ben.....You made it easy for me to hostess giving positive examples for others. That said, I need to be more thorough in the presentation of the place. Am so long you had a wonderful time and were able to stay an extra day! Look forward to seeing you again I hope.. Give my best to Anna too! Jill
The good news is the location if perfect and the host lovely. The bad news is almost everything else was disappointing. The space is so full of the owner's
possession's and clutter it was difficult to relax. The bedroom does have two dressers but only one empty drawer. Even the space under the bed is used for owner's storage. Nice bath tub and shower but old soap shampoo left from owner
or previous guest. Shelves and cabinet full of stuff. Sheets and towels circa 1980. Kitchen area not very clean or functional. Overall the studio did not feel guest ready. Fortunately the weather was warm and we could use the screen porch.
Jill's little studio is great. Has everything you need in cool SoCo neighborhood. She was totally cool and professional. Highly recommend! :)
Jill is an amazingly kind host! In the chaos of SXSW she even offered to drives us places, set everything up perfect, left us a bottle of wine, supplied an extra heater on a cold night, and made sure everything went off without a hitch. In nice weather the outdoor porch is a dream and the outdoor shower was the perfect thing to wake us up in the morning. Beds were comfy and kitchen had everything you needed! On the day that it rained she left us umbrellas. It was a great stay!
Hi. We live downstairs from this studio with private entrance. We enjoy living in the hubbub of Austin just 2 blocks from many restaurants and entertainments yet is is a quiet older neighborhood with many old oak trees. I'm a musician with a band in Austin called the Studebakers(look us up!) I'm a clinical psychotherapist and also own and manage other home rentals. Besides music, yoga, the outdoors, reading are my favorite pastimes.
This studio has a lot of personality. There are antiques and my band memorabilia. I live here except when I rent it out mostly for festivals and long visits.
We enjoy hosting and meeting people from all over the world..
