This duplex apartment (2 floors) is perfectly located in central Paris, close to Republique and 2 minutes from Canal St Martin:
ideal for strolls by the river and to relax in one of the numerous cafes, bars, restaurants by the water, also a large green park, called Jardin Villemin, is just around the corner, where people like to sunbathe or picnic with friends.
Very practical area since you are less than 10 minutes from Marais/ Faubourg Saint-Denis, and don’t need to take taxis home at night since everything is within close walking distance (Paris taxis are expensive and often very difficult to catch at night...another reason you will want to live central...).
One of Paris' award winning bakery is just around the corner, as are great restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and the metro station Jaques Bonsergent is 1 minute away.
Famous Parisian nightclubs are a few metro stations away (Silencio club, Rex club, Social club).
The apartment has traditional wood beams and Roset designer furniture.
Wifi Internet, TV and fully furnished. New good matress. The price includes bed linen and towels.
The area is safe, popular and in the heart of Paris.
Ideal for single or couple.

Clarissa's apartment is a comfortable apartment in a great neighborhood!
Séjour très sympathique, merci :)
Since Clarissa was for work abroad, she arranged a friend to check us in. He was there right on time to hand us over the key. The apartment is very authentic and nice, location is great (close to public transport, and in a nice upcoming area, very safe at night).
Unfortunately, it needs some renovation. Half the lights were not working, the window is being held together by a stick, the toilet needs a special treatment to get it to work, and the heating-system downstairs was not working properly. When we tried to call Clarissa's friend, the number seemed incorrect. When we emailed her, she stated that the friend was only for check-in and check-out and that we should give the heater another go. There was no one to help us, and we were freezing for two days, since there were no extra blankets in the apartment. Then we finally got it switched on in a specific way (and I used to work as a caretaker in a student building, it's not like we're totally clumsy with these things, the one upstairs was working fine).
At first we thought we just had bad luck, but then we read in the Airbnb-reviews that some things were already reported to be broken a month ago. Since you do pay a substantial sum for the stay, we do expect things to be repaired not before too long.
If the apartment would be fixed, we would definetely give it 4 stars because of the area. But in this state (and with this temperature), we wouldn't recommend it.
Lovely space in great neighborhood! We would definitely stay there again.
The apartment was clean and in a good location close to the metro, grocery stores, bars and restaurants. Was an easy walk to some of the main attractions of Paris. The stairs were not an issue.
Really OK: location, atmosphere of the house, surroundings, technical stuff in the house
Medium: Furniture is a bit old, no dinner table. Does not cost much at IKEA.
Soso: Bed is clean but matrass is too thin to lie directly on a hard floor. My hips were painful in the morning. Again, you can have a cheap spring-type matrass to put under the main matrass at IKEA: 2*JUMNA=80 Euro. Not much to accomodate a good night's sleep.
Clarissa was overall a great host — very attentive and the recommendations she made for dining in the area were excellent.
As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a *long climb* up to the sixth floor, which at times was charming and fine and at others, such as after six hours of wandering around Paris, less so.
THE LOCATION IS AMAZING. We knew it was pretty central and located near the subway, but we had no idea before we got there how cool the neighborhood around the apartment is. Reminded us of Brooklyn in many ways — young and hip with great, open people and a nice vibe. If you stay here, we would strongly recommend spending time around the Canal. There are a million great restaurants and bars frequented almost exclusively by locals, who we found were happy to chat over a glass of wine.
There were a few details about the apartment's state of repair that prevented us from being able to leave a five-star review in this case, but we've made sure she was aware and I'm sure they'll be addressed for the next tenants.
I very much enjoyed my stay in Clarissa's flat.
The flat had everything i needed to survive (bed, kitchen, wifi, and a hot shower), all of which worked without a problem.
The location is great - close to public transportation (train, metro, bus), good restaurants and bars!
The entry stairway is very old and renovation was going on, so it was very messy. The apartment itself was clean and tidy, even though the furniture is quite old and worn out and some paint is peeling in some corners.
Bathroom was very clean and worked well except the toilet is leaking and needs some attention with the water valve. Warm water was sufficiently available and the shower was good.
The TV was the size of a book, and needed some fiddling with the cables to work. WIFI network connection was good though, which was great! The sleeping area upstairs was quite comfortable and warm.
The biggest minus was the complete lack of a closing mechanism for the window in the living area. It had clearly been under renovation and left undone. Wind was blowing in all the time until I blocked the window completely with furniture. My stay in December made this a very cold experience. The matter was not fixed during my stay there, even though I was in contact with the host. With heater on maximum all the time I managed to get through the week without catching a cold.
With the window fixed I could recommend staying in this apartment if you just need a place to crash.
Very nice and well located apartment. Had every thing we needed for a comfortable stay. Clarissa's friend was very kind and friendly with us, and gave us great advice about some place nearby!
