We live 2 blocks from Golden Gate Park, with many good restaurants nearby. Buses are a 5 minute walk from here, taking you downtown and elsewhere. We offer breakfast, a private bathroom, and are happy to help you with your travel plans and questions.
Built in 1911, our large, comfortable and beautiful home and garden is located in a safe residential neighborhood. We are 2 blocks from Golden Gate Park (the home of the new De Young Art Museum and the new Academy of Sciences Museum, as well as containing tennis courts, miles of walking trails, and the Conservatory of Flowers), and are 8 minutes from the beach. Downtown, Fisherman's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge are close by. In addition, there's a wonderful farmer's market that's held each Sunday, close to our home. We are also walking distance from many excellent restaurants, and are a short walk from several different bus lines, making it simple to get around without a car.
The room is newly re-decorated, and has a queen size bed, dresser and desk top, and looks out on flowers and trees. It is wired for Wi-Fi, and has a private bathroom. We have another bedroom available for overflow, if you need it for an extra guest.
Our daughter Sara began our Airbnb experience a few summers ago, wanting to earn money for her college expenses. We all enjoyed having Airbnb guests, so we decided to continue with this when she returned to college. We are very accustomed to hosting people, having many friends who over the years have visited and stayed with us. Given that we have lived in San Francisco for decades, we can advise you on things to do, great spots to see, and wonderful restaurants.
We offer a continental breakfast, which includes
seasonal organic fruits, as well as english muffins, cereal, bagels, or scones, and of course coffee or tea.
Aside from their bedroom and bath on the second floor, guests are welcome to spend time in our garden, and have access to the first floor of our home, which includes the living room and dining area. They may use the refrigerator to store small amounts of food, but our kitchen is not available for cooking (although you are always welcome to make yourself a cup of tea!).
Interaction with Guests
We enjoy meeting our guests, and are happy to converse with them. We make ourselves available to answer their questions, and provide suggestions to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.
We love our neighborhood, because so many resources are close to home. We can do just about everything on foot: food shopping, museums, restaurants, walks in the woods, the beach, etc.
We are within five minutes (walking) of three different bus lines, allowing our guests to go just about anywhere in San Francisco without having to get in a car.
Other Things to Note
Most people who have cars choose to leave them parked in our neighborhood. They prefer to use public transportation, given that buses are very close and easy to use, and there's a lot to do within walking distance.
In addition, you probably noticed a fluffy little white dog in one of the pictures. He is friendly, sweet, and doesn't cause problems for people with dog allergies. That said, he can do some barking in the mornings, particularly after we leave for work (usually around 9). Given this, if you tend to sleep late, ours might not be the place for you. No one has ever had a problem with this, but I do like to warn people.
Excellent host, very knowledgable about the area and restaurants. The room was very clean and the neighborhood is great to walk around (near park and public transportation). Extremely satisfied with the stay and hope to return.
Toni and Philip were wonderful hosts! I was in SF for an Airbnb Conference (I am a host as well) and this was my first experience as a guest. Toni and Philip were very welcoming and their home is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood and is truly beautiful. Warm, cozy and filled with many pictures and precious objects from their travels. My bedroom was cozy and the bed extremely comfortable with great pillows and comforter. Toni prepared a lovely breakfast each morning with the crowning glory being bagels and lox on Sunday morning! I especially enjoyed her coffee and persimmons fresh from the tree! They are both very personable and enjoyed our breakfast chats. As I was preparing to checkout, I asked Toni if there was a local bakery nearby where I could pick up a pastry to bring home to my husband. She decided that she would take her bicycle and pick up some things for me so I wouldn't have to worry about finding a parking spot!! That was over and above the "call of duty"!! I give Toni and Philip the highest possible recommendation!!
We stayed four nights at this great place and enjoyed every minute of it. Toni and her family were lovely hosts. We couldn't have imagined a cozier accommodation than this in San Francisco. The room comes with a private bathroom and feels like a home away from the very first minute. Toni prepared delicious organic breakfasts. Besides, the location is fantastic: a quiet neighborhood, just two blocks from Golden Gate Park and short bus rides to Golden Gate Bridge, market street, or Fisherman's Wharf. A supermarket and nice restaurants are also nearby.
We definately recommend this place.
Great experience with Airbnb once again, Toni was a great host along with her husband and cute dog Jiffy, very personable, great home away from home. Their early risers which worked out perfect with our schedule, also had a nice organic breakfast prepared for us every morning. House is super close to bus lines, room was spacious, bed was super comfortable, really enjoyed chatting with them after a long day of touring, would definitely stay here again, thanx again for everything Toni.
Staying with Toni's family was one of my loveliest AirBnb experiences. Our room in the house was clean and comfortable. The bathroom, which was only ours to use during our stay, was spotless as well and best of all, equipped with yummy organic bath supplies. Everyone in the family clearly have their own busy schedules but still make it a point to make us feel at home,,while giving us plenty of privacy. We really appreciate the scones, greek yogurt, granola, fruits and coffee that were prepared for us every morning. The guest folder in the room proved to be helpful as well. We dined at Bella, a nearby Italian restaurant, as recommended, and really enjoyed the food. Jiffy the family's dog is adorable and no trouble whatsoever. The house is located in a peaceful residential neighbourhood with many food options a couple of blocks away. I was enamoured by the Green Apple bookstore not too far from the house. Do drop in if you're into books! The house is also accessible by bus which operates all night long, which was greatard for us. Overall, we had a wonderful time in this cosy home of this super cool family.
This was our first experience with Airbnb and staying with Toni and her family definitely made us want to try using Airbnb again. Toni and Philip were great hosts. To start with the house is situated in a very calm and nice neighbourhood with two bus stops close by with bus lines that takes you downtown. The room was really pretty, light and cosy and both the room and bathroom were very clean and tidy. Toni prepared a delightful breakfast every morning with fresh fruit, greek yoghurt, scones and coffee. Both Toni and Philip were really welcoming and made us feel like home. We had quite a busy schedule when we were in San Francisco but we still had some time to chat with both Toni and Philip, which we really enjoyed. They also came up with a lot of great tips for our trip that continued outside san Francisco. We would highly recommend staying with Toni and her family if you are planning to go to San Francisco. Thank you Toni, hope to see you all again sometime!
My husband Philip and I are long time San Franciscans. We have two children, who are 21 and 27 years old. We love the outdoors, enjoy travelling, and spend lots of time gardening. We also like to cook, and share meals with friends.
