This is a lovely, large guest room with a queen-sized bed, sitting area, large closet, desk, flatscreen TV/cable, WiFi, shared bathroom facilities, access to a kitchenette and daily self catered breakfast.
The Garden House is located in the heart of Toronto's historical Parkdale Village. Once an Edwardian manor house, we have renovated it to accommodate visitors from around the world.
We are a traditional Bed and Breakfast guest house, as opposed to a hostel or apartment rental.
We have four separate guest rooms, each with a different personality to suit your individual needs and each accommodating two people. The 'St. Germaine' has a double bed with private 3-pce bath for $110.00/night; the 'Marais' has a queen bed with shared bathroom facilities for $80.00/night; the 'Tuileries' has a double bed with shared bathroom facilities for $70.00. 'Le Suite' is a large suite with private 3-piece bath and kitchenette for $125.00/night. There is a charge of $10.00 for additional people. Monthly rates are available for long term stays from October to April.
We provide a lovely self catered daily breakfast including coffee, teas, juices, cereals, yogurt, jams, etc., various breads and bagels, plus home made muffins and home made health cookies, fresh fruit and fruit salad. We also provide two hot breakfast entrees including bacon, eggs, sausages, omelettes, pancakes and/or French toast.
Also, we have a wonderfully serene back garden (hence, the name) -- a distinct home-away-from-home where you can enjoy your morning coffee, an afternoon glass of wine or even lay out in the sun.
We are in a great location, conveniently close to all major public transportation, great restaurants, bars, art galleries and only a short walk to the Lakeshore bike/jogging path.
Toronto is one of the best cities in the world and The Garden House we love to host visitors to our city. We are avid travellers and we understand the meaning of an excellent holiday -- accommodation is key to that.
The Garden House is sure to cater to all your needs and if you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us :)
Alan & Patricia
We had a wonderful stay at Patricia and Alan's bed and breakfast. They are very wonderful, friendly hosts and made us feel very welcome indeed! The pictures are exactly as shown but even better. The rose garden is amazing (landscaped by Patricia; she is very talented) Actually there is only two pictures shown on the listing and yet when we arrived the rooms and washroom (as well as the garden) was a very pleasant surprise.
Upon arrival we were given our privacy and given a tour. We stayed in the Marais room and had access to a shared washroom; both are huge and modern. There is a beautiful jacuzzi in the bathroom with candles which I would have definitely loved to have used had it not been a shared bathroom (but then we learned the day we were leaving we were the only guests there in the end so in fact we could have but we didn't want to hog the bathroom). It is so nice and quiet and private we didn't even know if there was a other guest or not.
The garden is an escape haven on its own and I would have spent time there if we had more than 1 night as we also wanted to spend time in the neighbourhood. All you need is a good book, great company and a glass of wine while you unwind in the garden and privacy of your room if that's what you're into and I definite love that.
We had a lovely conversation over breakfast; the food is very generous. There was so much variety from hot and cold to choose from. You would be delighted.
The place is super clean; air conditioning in the bedroom is not too cold, not too warm, just comfortable and there is also a fan in the room if you like to moderate the temperature as you like it.
We also had access to a small fridge, kettle, coffee, tea outside our room. It was just like staying in a hotel but at a b&b in someone's home.
There is also a flat screen TV in the room with basic channels if you want to watch a movie.
The neighbourhood is delightful and there is such an array of restaurants to choose from just 5 mins walk from their home. You are in close proximity to buses, subway and streetcar and can get anywhere in the city easily.
We will definitely love to come back and stay with them again and stay longer next time. It's definitely a great getaway or stay-cation!! We highly recommend the Garden House to anybody.
Thanks Patricia and Alan!!
My boyfriend and I were in Toronto for the weekend of Caribana and were lucky enough to be hosted by Patricia and Alan. They were absolutely the best hosts-from their hospitality in welcoming us to their BnB, to them finding us a secure parking spot (which would have otherwise been a massive dilemma, it being the Caribana weekend). Our stay could not have gone better and the homemade breakfast was to die for.
This was my first time staying at a BnB, and it could not have gone any better.
Thank you, Patricia and Alan! Hope you both are as excited for the season premiere of Breaking Bad as we are! Cheers!
My friend and I had a wonderful stay at this B & B. Pat and Allen were the perfect hosts. The room and bathroom were comfortable and spacious, the breakfast was generous and delicious. Also loved the charm and history of the neighbourhood. Would recommend this place to all.
Patricia and Allan were gracious hosts. Wonderful details left in our room in their beautiful home in Parkdale, a very lively and interesting neighbourhood. They were very welcoming and wonderful to talk with. I look forward to another stay at their BnB in the future!
We had a lovely two-night stay in the Marais room at the Garden House. Alan and Patricia were wonderful hosts: extremely pleasant and helpful, eager to chat and share information, and provided a delicious breakfast in the mornings. Alan even rose early on Sunday to make us some very strong coffee for our send-off! The Marais room is as pictured and described: bright, comfortable, and clean, with some much appreciated welcoming extras. The shared bathroom is clean and large. A great stay over all and we look forward to returning!
(Much love to the two kitties who live downstairs--especially Boris for being so entertaining!)
