Interaction with guests

I am typically in & out and like to do a little traveling myself so if I am around and you are available, I would love to take some time to chat, but I also respect privacy, both mine & yours.

The neighborhood

My neighborhood is great, a working class neighborhood that is about as close to downtown as you can be without being in the mix of it. It is literally a few minutes walk to almost anything you would want, yet a complete neighborhood feel. My neighbors are all friendly we are diverse in our socio-economic, racial, political, age & gender make-ups.

Getting around

You can walk to almost anything, but driving is easy as well, I am right off of I-26 & I-240. There are taxis & Uber service. There are bus stops within two blocks. The airport is about a 15 minute drive; there are taxis, Uber & shuttles. There is permitted on street parking directly in front of the house while you visit.

House Rules

No parties or events
Check in is anytime after 3PM

I'm not super into rules, especially on vacation!
--PLEASE read the email from airbnb with the House Manual, it will tell you everything you need to know.
--You will find I am pretty hands off but here if you need me. The airbnb mobile app doesn't work well on my phone, but I am good at texting, so please communicate with me that way.
---Tea, coffee, cooking oils & spices are provided for your pleasure. Sometimes there will be eggs, creamer & or condiments.
--A parking pass is provided, please park directly in front of house so that two vehicles can fit & overflow parking can be on Marcellus (please respect the neighbors & do not park in front of their houses if possible, thanks!)
- This space is designed for 2 adults max. One additional child under 5 is fine but you will need to provide sleeping arrangements.
--As far as rules- respectful, enjoy yourself, Asheville and surrounding areas. Please keep in mind this is a neighborhood and my neighborly relations are very important to me; besides they are rad people & they deserve respectful neighbors, short or long term.

Oh, and of course have fun!

We loved our stay. Very convenient for getting to downtown Asheville. Just enough space for two adults and two dogs.

Excellent location in Asheville. Three grocery stores across the street and easy walking downtown. Highway is just a block away so it is easy to get in and out of town as well. I had the opportunity to meet B. She is great and very responsive to things that came up. Only additional thing to mention is that the place is old and has a small pond in the back yard. We brought our 2 year old and he did fine but the porch and pond are places you need to keep an eye on kids.

Great place to stay for walking to downtown Asheville. Cozy and comfortable studio in quiet, older neighborhood. Steps away from natural foods grocery. We will return!

The room was very comfortable and well stocked. The location was awesome... about a five minute walk into the heart of the city. The studio has a cabin-esque feel in the middle of the city. The Whole Foods next door is particularly nice. I would highly recommend this place, and we would stay here again.

I like to have fun & meet new people and hear about new experiences so as to expand my own understanding of this life.
I like to do fun building projects and see how I might take old materials and recreate them in a new fashion.
I am fairly laid back and I prefer to host people who are also laid back and appreciate bohemian lifestyles.
I appreciate the urban and rural ways of life and try to live them both to the fullest.
I like new experiences so I've had a variety of jobs/careers: I've been a dishwasher; a farmer; a whitewater rafting guide, a wildland fire manager (in over half the country and other countries too); I served as Director of the Environmental Center @ the local University; got with some awesome colleagues and co-founded the Asheville Buncombe Food Policy Council, I proudly serve as a Guardian ad Litem (child advocacy in the court system) and I do a little community organizing around economic, environmental & overall social justice.

As far as how my style relates to you, my neighbor, I am real hands off! I have a full life and don't hang around too much....but when I do, I like to relax, converse and giggle.
