Relax and unwind in the pines in this spacious, modern builder's cabin. First bedroom and bathroom on the main floor make this ideal for those that can't do stairs well, and second bedroom/bathroom upstairs can easily accommodate another couple. Open floor plan makes it easy to reconnect with family and friends. Savor all the sights and sounds of the Plumas National Forest from the large deck with built-in gas fire pit and grill.

Hosts live just up the street + available 24/7.

The space
This Chalet-style cabin was lovingly built by previous owners, a Carson City builder, in 2003, and cherished for years by their family. All 1,275 sq ft are built from the ground up with a sharp eye for beautiful building details, with the goal to create a relaxing and secluded place to bond with family & friends against the stunning backdrop of Beckwourth Peak, Smith Peak, and the Plumas National Forest.

First bedroom and bathroom are located on the main floor - no stairs necessary!

Second bedroom and bathroom upstairs provide privacy and separation. Loft area has a desk work space to send off emails without missing the action in the main area below.

Custom kitchen has everything you need, whether it's breakfast on the go, snacking thru the day and making pack lunches, or staying in for dinner. Fully automatic espresso machine/cappucino maker will have you sipping on coffee while watching the sunrise in moments. Pantry and fridge are stocked with all the basics in case you forget anything.

Although wifi access is currently limited to light browsing, guests can still entertain themselves with TVs equipped with HDMI cables in each bedroom, and a TV with collection of DVDs/XBox games in the living room. Guests are welcome to walk up the street to Cull Castle to use the 250mb fiber optic wifi, but there's plenty of board, card, and table top games to unplug with.

Enjoy panoramic views of wildlife and weather from the large deck with gas fire pit and grill, or admire from inside thru the windowed south wall.

Guests are welcome to come explore the rest of the Cull Castle property, accessible by trails created by Cris & Lynda and bordered by an "ephemeral" creek, and Plumas National Forest.

Where you’ll be

Portola, California, United States

Crocker Mountain Estates was established around the same time as Lake Davis in the late 1960's... by host Lynda's grandparents! It is by lucky timing (maybe fate?) that we've returned to this hidden gem after 60 years of no formal connection.

This quaint 40-acre subdivision is set onto the side of the mountain, so every lot has a stunning view all around and is the perfect ratio of neighbors to forest. The neighborhood is technically within the Plumas National Forest and across the street from CA state game refuge, so many neighbors are wildlife. Only 1.5 miles from Lake Davis dam and less than 10 minutes to Portola/hwy 70.

My wife Lynda and I love California, and we love to travel using Airbnb ourselves! We moved to our dream home in Plumas county, CA with our 3 cats and bird in 2020 after living in San Diego for 10 and 5 years, respectively. Lynda is a Nor CA native, and Cris has lived all over the US after immigrating from Chile.
