Private room in a safe complex

House - Private room · Senter Rd, San Jose, CA 95111, United States

The Space

This is a cute little room with a full size futon. The futon has a four inch memory foam mattress for super comfort. There is also limited closet space but, plenty for most people that have stayed with us. Lots of desk space with a pull out writing table. We just cancelled our cable service. No one really watches TV when they stay with us. Most people stream stuff on their laptops, so we are cutting corners and not having internet any longer.
The room is in a nice Mobilehome Park. The home is a manufactured home. Not a trailer or one of the older mobilehomes with paneling and such.
Wireless internet available for your laptop and an ethernet cable available if your laptop doesn't have a wireless card. We have an average of 19 ping 58.49 download speed and 11.14 upload speed. We bought our own modem and router since Comcast/xfinity just wasn't cutting it in terms of their modem. We know how important internet access is to our guests. Storage space available under the desk for your suitcases and also space in the entertainment center for storing things.

The bath is shared with whomever is staying in our other room and by my daughter during the night, because my boyfriend and I live together. My daughter only uses my shower, never the guest bath one. The bathroom is a full bath, with a shower and a tub. Nice and clean.

You may cook. I have a shelf space in the pantry available for you to store your food and room in the fridge as well. You may do laundry if you need to. Make yourself at home.

You may eat at the dining room table or in your room and I have bed trays that I can make available for your use.

You may use the laundry room to do your laundry. Fresh towels and sheets available in the linen cabinets.

Stay and make your self at home in your home away from home.

Due to the increase in the use of utilities, I've had to increase my room rate a little bit. Hopefully this is still affordable for everyone considering all that we offer our guests.

We are easy access to all public transit modes and really easy access to all the major freeways. We are also 15 mins. away depending on traffic, from the HP Pavilion, The Convention Center and Downtown.

We treat our guests like family, but we don't intrude. You can come and go as you like, just like a hotel. How ever much you socialize with us is up to you. Money is tight, so we don't arrange a nice meal like we used to do for our guests. But you are most definitely welcome to stay with us and enjoy your home away from home.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Maria was a very kind host and always made sure I had everything to feel comfortable as a guest. The room is as advertised but a bit small. It was just ok though for my short stay.

  • Maria's place was really welcoming and filled with nice posters and a really comfy bed. She was really nice and understanding of my schedule (would have love to have more time to chat with her and her daughter but friends kidnapped most of the time :) ). She even saved my life finding my lost passport, so I couldn't ask for more.

Overall, the experience was really good and I'd recommend it to anyone.

  • I had a great time at Maria's house. Everything was clean and in working order. Details about the house were crystal clear and she was very kind to pick me up at the train station at night. The room was very comfortable and perfect if you work remotely. I'd certainly stay in Maria's place again.

As it was my first experience with airbnb, i did not know how much interaction i should have had with the host. I certainly enjoy a good conversation (specially in portuguese), but i decided to be on the safe side and just not talk too much.

    Response from Maria:

You were fine and I usually let the guest decide how much socializing to do. Since you were working from home, I didn't want to intrude on your work time. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Maybe next time we will have a nice chat in Portuguese. Thanks again for staying with us.

  • Maria is SO nice! We stayed for three days there and it was a great experience. She provides you all kinds of stuff and we even got some coconut dessert to enjoy.
