My first Airbnb stay & what a Fantastic experience & trip we had! Rome is Amazing & our apartment, Iris in the heart of Trastevere, was thee neatest, cutest apartment!! Staying there made our whole trip! We stayed for a week in November. We thought it was the perfect season to go & this is the area to be in & the apt to stay in. Has everything you could possibly need! It's in the best neighborhood in Rome. The locals, the food, this is the true Roman experience. Thank you Marco for corresponding quickly with me & answering questions. His partner Hussien(?) met us around the block, because we were a little lost (which is half of the charm) & he showed us around & was so nice & answered all our questions. Thank you. The apartment is bigger than it looks, the kitchen is Fantastic & everything you would need to cook with .Go to the markets & get fresh food & cook at The apt. The bed is super comfortable. Yes it can be a little loud at night but shut the windows & where the bedroom is, you cant hear a thing. it wasnt every night & we enjoyed it . Open the windows & experience the real, true Rome. There is a washer, which was great & big drying rack. We would love to come back & stay a month there for sure. The apartment is comfy& so homey. After staying here, you will never want to stay in a hotel again. It was great for 2 people but if u had kids or another couple, it would work as well, you just have to share the bathroom & walk through the bedroom to get there. The ac works, there's fans & you can open the windows as well. Plenty of air, heat & lots of light.this place is a true hidden gem! Thank you Roma, thank you Trastevere & thank you Marco & partner Hussien for the most Amazing, Fabulous stay! We can't wait to come back! We miss it already!
A wonderful location and a very comfortable apartment. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and would come back if the opportunity every presented itself. Thanks for a wonderful week.
Excellent location, better impossible, full of good restaurants around and near the Ponte Sisto which leads to most sights. Apartment very well equipped and nicely decorated. A host Andrea was super helpful and efficient. Everything went as expected. Points to improve: shower could have more water and the air conditioning in the room is lacking because you need to sleep with the windows closed because of the location in the bohemian Trastevere, very noisy on the evening. Do not go by car because parking is very difficult! Recommend, go back for sure.
Excelente localização, bem próximo a bares e restaurantes. Agradecemos a hospitalidade e as dicas. O único pecado é a falta de wifi. Quem for a Roma, indico o Trastevere sem dúvida nenhuma!
This place is fantastic. Right off all the action in Trastevere--great nightlife, restaurants, bars, cafes, great people watching... but tucked away on a quiet beautiful little street with nice views out the living room window. The place itself is so cool, tall ceilings, great kitchen, nice comfy bedroom. We loved it here... A great start to our trip...
Modern, clean and comfortable apartment in a amazing location. It's right amongst all the wonderful bars and restaurants so you can expect noise in the evenings, embrace it! Marco was quick to respond to emails and arranged a car to and from the airport for us. Would happily recommend to family and friends. Hope to visit Trastevere again soon, we had a wonderful time.
Beautiful apartment tucked back into the most fun area of Rome! Not only was the apartment perfect for a couples stay in Trastevere, but the bed was also the most comfortable of our stay overall! The noise from the street is easily closed out by shutting the windows (and surprisingly the shutters make a huge difference). Everything in Rome is within walking distance(or a short cab ride). The kitchen is excellent for cooking up meals, the washing machine was super convenient and the communication and quick tour of the immediate area started our trip off perfectly. When in Rome(again) I will definitely return to Iris and highly recommend to anyone desiring to experience an authentic piece of Roma!
Do plan to identify the apartment in advance. Some taxi drivers were a little confused as to how to find. Trastevere is better traveled by foot or scooter in many areas and the apartment is tucked back into a nice tight street. Perfect for experiencing the sights and sounds of Roman street life.
Marco and Hassan were extremely helpful because we arrived 3-4 hours later than expected without our luggage (AirItalia lost our bags), basically losing a half day of touring on our 5 yr anniversary.
Marco arranged a driver to drop us off at the place so it was easy to find his co-worker Hassan to meet up with us and teach us the oven, washer, keys, and walked us around the neighborhood and made sure we understood the location and how to get back. It was a quick and easy introduction and you could tell these guys are very professional.
This is by far the best location. It's tucked into a quiet and quaint beautiful alley and one block away you're in the party area of Travestere...tons of amazing restaurants (pick any place, they're all good, and order the house wine because it's inexpensive and more delicious than any US wine), Gelato shops on every corner, and tons of young people and clubs that we never went to but admired. The area felt pretty safe at night. The best part about it is you're away from the tourist traps so the food is relatively inexpensive and authentic. Walking across the canal to the Colosseum, Pantheon, fountains, and ruins is easy and fun...approx 10 min. Make sure you have really comfortable walking shoes. Around the corner if you head up the hill there are some stairs that get you a view of the entire city of Rome and it's absolutely stunning. Again, perfect location...look no further.
The bed is very comfortable and softer than more European beds, no feathers. The hot water in the shower runs out after 8 min or so. It's a clean apartment, cleaner than the pictures, small like most European apartments are, the shower and bathroom are tiny which my wife wasn't thrilled about, but it's to be expected. They had lots of extra towels and pillows which was (website hidden) worked decently and we slept great at night.
Marco even helped me retrieve our bags by calling the lost luggage center because we don't speak Italian. He arranged for the bags to show up at the apartment. 24 hours later, everything arrived. Overall, amazing trip and I hope to be back here.
If you want an apartment based on great location this is it. If you want a luxurious and clean apartment you may want to keep looking. Marco was timely in his email correspondence and Hassan was friendly and efficient when we arrived. However, we asked specifically if there was a washer and dryer in the unit and they assured us there was but upon arrival we were shown a washer only. When we asked about the dryer Hassan pulled out a drying rack and gave us a little wink and and a sheepish look as if to say 'oops sorry, but you know how it goes'. It was unfortunate for us as we were 8 weeks in to a 13 week trip thru multiple countries as well as travelling with our 1 year old daughter. One of the reasons we used airbnb rather than stay at another hotel at this juncture of our trip was to sort out laundry, cook a few homemade meals and feel a little more relaxed. I believe they are a company with multiple locations and so I feel some amenities such as this are glossed over to fill places whereas when we've booked with families that are only renting out one place it feels furnished thoughtfully and tastefully rather than hastily furnished with odd nicknacks and leftover Xmas decorations. The bathroom was quite dirty and smelled terribly for the entire duration of our stay and we used the shower with sandals on as it didn't seem wise not to. The bed was comfortable though and from the bedroom we were not at all bothered by the nighttime revellers at the many bars and restaurants surrounding the apartment.
Overall it was a satisfactory stay, not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination (also no wifi which we did forget to check about so our own fault) and great location. I wouldn't stay here again but we did have a blast. It is Rome after all!
