cozy apartment of 90 square meters: 70 home and 20 of terrace from which to admire the fantastic sunsets or the lights of the lagoon that shine in the night. There are 4 beds plus a sofa bed and some sunbeds. In a quiet street where cicadas sing.
Bright and cheerful flat in Venice's Lido with terrace on the lagoon allowing for an amazing, romantic view, where to eat or drink a prosecco enjoying the sound of cicadas or ... sleep under the stars in comfortable loungers. The flat is made of 2 twin (can be united to form two double) bedrooms, a sofa bed, 1 kitchen, and one bathroom. This is a holiday flat so furnishing is quite simple but includes all you need - including air cooling units in the bedrooms.
In front of the house there is a park and in summer time to enjoy the sound of the cicadas is very cute ... Mediterranean atmosphere.
Along the short walk from the house to the beach you will find a great super market with delicious food, fruit and wine, called Coop. Going to the beach is very comfortable to buy there something to eat for a memorable picnic.
3/4 bikes are available in the garden to visit all the different beaches, changing them everyday, looking for the most beautiful shells of which the island is full, and to choose the best " spritz & cicchetti " . All the beaches are with white fine sand and many many shells!
The Lido is one of Venice's largest islands, where Thomas Mann's novel (and Visconti's wonderful film) 'Death in Venice' is set, and where the Venice film festival is held - so look out for actors lounging around in this romantic setting.
The Lido island is easly reachable by car ( with a ferry boat ) or via Vaporetto (the local water-bus) and then a short bus ride of 7 minutes (this island sports a couple of roads!) takes you to the flat.
The island is long and lean and you can see the sea on either sides from the terrace, on one side (about 10 seconds walk) you can see the rest of Venice, and on the other side (about 2 minutes walk) you can swim in the sea and access some pretty fancy beaches on the left, and some pretty wild rocks on the right, desert, with any people, also in summer time!
On the right top of the isle there's Alberoni: an amazing forest on the beach, always calm!
In the flat there are 4 beds plus a sofa bed. Some sunbeds are in the terrace.
Interaction with Guests
I use airbnb in my travels and I wish they were my guests well in my house.
I love to walk only some seconds from the house, buy some fresh stracchino and fruit and bresaola, and sit in the shade of wooden platform built by hand on the rocks on the beach, swim a little and wach the sea listening to the sound of waves on the fine white sand. Look for the most beautiful shells of which the beach is full. Go home, some cool drink and rest on the balcony with the cicadas singing. Then take the bike and go downtown for "spritz & cicchetti". This is really dolce vita-sweet life for me :-) . More this summer 2015, opposite the Lido, there is the Biennale Art: if you like art you absolutely must visit, I really love it! It's only few minutes by boat, an unforgettable short trip in the incredible lagoon.
The transports in Lido and in all Venice work really well, boats and buses run day and night every few minutes. From the airport you can take the bus to Piazzale Roma and the boat to Lido or, from the airport directly, a taxi boat, which costs 110 euro for 4 people, from airport to central Lido: an half hour running in the amazing lagoon! and a taxi to the house, 4 minutes of run, at euro 10-15. The train station arrives into the heart of Venice where to take the boat number 1 to Lido, about 1 hour along the incredible Canal Grande and the lagoon or the number 5.1, half an hour to Lido. Then a bus of 7 minutes to the apartment.
Other Things to Note
the street is calm and large, with lot of place for cars. Lido island is very safe and quiet.
In Lido people appreciate the silence enjoying the sound of cicadas around
A basic apartment with everything you need except for a dishwasher.
The pluses - serviceable bikes come with the apt and the balcony is quite pleasant and breezy in the afternoon. In the evening in summer though, the mosquitoes make it impossible to sit out on it. The apt is some distance from the vaporetto station but the beaches near it are the best ones on the Lido.
The photos are somewhat deceiving as the building is run down and the apt could use a paint job.
The wifi is erratic and hardly ever worked the 9 nights we stayed there. Also, the water heater is the old fashioned kind and does not maintain the temperature in the shower for very long making for on and off hot water. During the summer when it's hot, this is manageable if somewhat inconvenient.

Hello, my name is Lucia, I am a Venetian through and through and am always amazed when I meet someone who's never been here - this is truly one of the most amazing cities in the world and can be experienced at lots of different levels. In Lido I love to rest in my balcony enjoying the sing of the cicadas, or to go to the beach with something to eat or to walk in the Alberoni wood, etc. Lido is a source of constant wonder and inspiration - you must try it! if you like art, the Biennale Art is in front of.
I'm teacher in Venice, I like to sing, I love to travel with Airbnb :-)
