Guest access
At check-in, you'll get a parking permit—please display it on your rear-view mirror while on the property. The permit is next to your guest book in the kitchen or dining area. Only registered guests may park on-site; visitors, boats, trailers, work vans, and RVs must park elsewhere.

Each unit comes with one parking space. Occasionally, we can offer a second spot for one of the five rentals. Please inform us at booking if you need extra parking so we can check availability.

Do not back into parking spots; drive forward until your bumper touches the deck. Large vehicles—including full-size pickup trucks, king cab pickups, and large SUVs with third-row seats (Suburbans, Escalades, Excursions, etc.)—must park in the marked gravel area to the right of the driveway, leaving space for another vehicle.

Our parking lot also features a striped regulation Pickleball court—a unique amenity for guests to enjoy. Parking spaces are clearly marked with yellow stripes, and vehicles should park at a 45-degree angle.

The property is easy to find, especially at night. Look for the ground-mounted wooden sign marked “Poseidon”—illuminated with red and green lights. Turn into the driveway next to the red light and the Poseidon sign.

We’re centrally located in the region and just minutes from major destinations:
• 1 hour to Colonial Williamsburg & Busch Gardens
• 30 minutes to Virginia Beach Resort
• 15 minutes to Norfolk International Airport, Downtown Norfolk, EVMS, and NSU
• Less than 10 minutes to Norfolk Naval Base, Old Dominion University, Hampton University, the VA Hospital, and Little Creek Amphibious Base

Please note: Public transportation in our area is limited. A car is strongly recommended for getting around comfortably and efficiently.

Other things to note
Poseidon is a well kept and well-loved bay front property. It is a quiet place for guests that enjoy a quiet beachfront to fish, kayak, crab, sail, suntan, wind-surf, swim or beachcombing. The property is not suitable for parties, inappropriate behavior of any kind or unauthorized guests. To assure the comfort of our guests parking is decal controlled, there is camera surveillance and decibel meters are installed. We do not rent to guests under 25 or guests that do not have a 5-star review(s) from a prior Airbnb host(s)

Smoking of any kind is prohibited inside of the property but we have cigarette buckets along the exterior as smoking is permitted outdoors. Maximum setting for Air Conditioning is 72-degrees. Maximum heat setting is 76 degrees

We also have free kayaks too but a Waiver of Liability form will need to be initialed and executed by all adults that will be using the kayaks (minors are not to use kayaks). If you would like to use this equipment please message me with your email address and names of all adults that will be using it. I will send the agreement to you by Docusign. Once you sign and initial in all of the spaces provided and the completed form is sent to me I will then provide you with the lock code to unlock the kayak and provide a paddle to use

We have a striped regulation Pickle Ball court in the parking lot. Parking spots are clearly marked in with yellow stripes and cars park diagonally (45-degree angle)

Neighborhood highlights

Our neighborhood, Willoughby Spit has seen a great deal of history. Sea trade has sailed past its shores since the founding of the United States in the 1600's. The neighborhood was created by The Great Coastal Hurricane on August 22, 1706. A few blocks from the Poseidon is the spot where President Abraham Lincoln came ashore to plan the Battle of Norfolk during the Civil War. From our front yard we still see commercial and naval ships as well as commercial watermen plying the historic Chesapeake Bay and still hear fog horns from these vessels.

This is a quiet beachfront neighborhood that is ideal for watching sunrises and sunsets over the Chesapeake Bay. Fish, crab, sail, kayak, paddle board, or just be a beachcomber. Ships have been visiting our area since 1607 and one never knows what historic artifact might wash up on our beaches. Sit under the pergola and watch the commercial fishermen plying the waters on their Chesapeake Deadrise john boats, look at the commercial shipping and warships coming in an out of the Hampton Roads Harbor. Underneath please find some of the places and activities that make this a wonderful waterfront neighborhood:

Historic Fort Monroe (about 5 miles away), located on the other side of the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. This is where African slaves were first freed during the Civil War. The fort also protected the harbor for nearly 200 years

Chamberlain Hotel at Fort Monroe (about 5-miles away) - Features an extensive Sunday buffet overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. Long pants and button down shirts required and reservations are must

Ocean View Fishing Pier - located bout 2-miles to the east at the intersection of 1st View and W Ocean View Avenue, this pier is an entertainment complex of sorts. Tickets are sold for the pier's head boats for half a day of fishing and sightseeing. There are two restaurants and a rooftop bar with live entertainment. Then there is a very long pier that is great for fishing and crabbing and there is free parking there too.

Ocean View Golf Course - located on Brooke Avenue and East Ocean View Avenue about 2 miles away. This is a 18 hole public golf course that is well played and well loved. It received a complete makeover in 2011 and it was christened by none other than Tiger Woods.

East Beach Marina District - located about 7 miles east off of Pretty Lake Avenue and East Ocean View Avenue. The area is home to several marinas and is home to Sail Time, where sailboats can be rented. There are several restaurants in-and-around the district and include Surfrider Restaurant (lunch and dinner), Longboards (lunch and dinner), Stoneys (lunch and Dinner), Sandfiddler Cafe (breakfast and lunch), Captain Groovy's (lunch and dinner), and Karla's House (breakfast and lunch). The OV Diner is closer and is located near the intersection of Granby Street and East Ocean View Avenue. The Willoughby Fish House and the Willoughby Bay Inn are located in the neighborhood and are less than a half mile away. I personally eat that these places many times a week, every week and would not recommend them if they were anything less than good
