The space
Nestled within the prestigious Mineral Farm subdivision along the highly coveted Camp Bird Road, this breathtaking estate offers an unparalleled retreat for up to fourteen guests. Located just two miles from the charming heart of downtown Ouray, the property provides a rare synthesis of idyllic privacy and sweeping, unobstructed mountain vistas that transform beautifully with the seasons, from vibrant fall foliage to the pristine snowscapes of winter. The estate serves as a premier gateway to the rugged elegance of the San Juan Mountains, situated mere minutes from world-class hiking, the thundering beauty of Box Canyon Falls, and the famous Ouray Ice Park. For those seeking adventure, the Via Ferrata and the gateway to Imogene Pass are virtually at your doorstep, while four major ski areas are within an effortless drive. Designed as a sanctuary for families and sophisticated groups, the home features six meticulously curated bedrooms, including custom suites and two spacious bunk rooms. To ensure a stay perfectly tailored to your group’s needs, management will coordinate with you upon booking to select the ideal bedding configuration, at which point two of the six bedrooms will be locked off to preserve the estate’s refined and intimate atmosphere.

An absolute haven for Jeep enthusiasts, this property is one of the few to offer direct access to thousands of acres of pristine riding trails. To maintain the serenity of the grounds, guests are invited to bring up to six vehicles, though the unloading of ATVs or UTVs is not permitted on-site. The interior of the retreat is a masterclass in warmth and entertainment, featuring a unique three-story floor plan that balances expansive communal areas with secluded private suites, including a handicap-accessible option. The professional-grade kitchen invites the creation of gourmet feasts in a space where John Wayne famously enjoyed his breakfast during the filming of True Grit—a legacy commemorated by a photograph near the fireplace. Whether you are hosting a formal dinner or a casual meal, the mountain view remains the centerpiece of the experience.

After a day of exploration, guests can retreat to an array of curated amenities designed for relaxation and connection. The estate boasts a sophisticated billiards room, a private cinema equipped with satellite and streaming services, and an indoor music conservatory featuring a piano, guitar, and vintage Victrola. Outside, the crisp mountain air is best enjoyed from the warmth of the hot tub or beside the flickering glow of the fire pit. With dedicated office spaces and high-speed connectivity for those who must balance work with leisure, this estate ensures every guest experiences the pinnacle of mountain luxury. Beyond the immediate peaks, the wonders of the Western Slope await, with Telluride, Silverton, and the ancient landscapes of Mesa Verde and Moab all within reach for effortless day excursions.

Guest access
During your stay, you are invited to immerse yourself in the full comfort of our private sanctuary, where every detail is designed for your relaxation. Spend your evenings soaking in the soothing warmth of the outdoor hot tub under a canopy of stars or gather for intimate conversations around the glow of the propane firepit. For your convenience and peace of mind, the property also includes full access to the attached garages. To maintain the serene and exclusive nature of our local community, please note that the neighborhood lakes remain a private amenity for residents, ensuring your retreat remains peaceful and undisturbed.

Other things to note

The community is defined by its quiet elegance and lush natural surroundings, maintaining a peaceful atmosphere that residents cherish year-round. To preserve this pristine environment and the privacy of the neighborhood, the local lakes remain reserved solely for residents.

While we welcome guests arriving in Jeeps to explore the local terrain, we kindly request that all-terrain and utility task vehicles remain loaded to maintain the sophisticated calm of the grounds. In keeping with the intimate and quiet nature of the property, we maintain a strictly residential atmosphere and are unable to facilitate weddings or large-scale events. To ensure a restful experience for all, we observe dedicated quiet hours from 9:00 PM until 10:00 AM, allowing the stillness of the landscape to take center stage.

Neighborhood highlights

The Mineral Farm Neighborhood

Situated near the historic Camp Bird Road, the Mineral Farm neighborhood is a premier mountain enclave designed for those seeking a deep connection with the San Juan Mountains. This quiet and exclusive community is defined by its rugged beauty, towering aspen and fir forests, and a commitment to preserving the natural serenity of the Ouray high country.

A Pristine Nature Setting

Mineral Farm offers guests the rare ability to truly relax and unplug. The neighborhood is built around the philosophy of respecting the landscape, ensuring that the local wildlife and pristine environment remain the primary focus.

Tranquility and Privacy: The community is governed by a dedicated homeowner’s association that maintains high standards for peace and privacy.

A Gateway to Adventure:

Its location at the base of the canyon provides immediate access to world-class hiking and exploration. Iconic landmarks like the Perimeter Trail and the thundering Box Canyon Falls are just moments away, making it an ideal base for backcountry enthusiasts.

Community Standards & Local Ordinances

To protect the quiet atmosphere and the integrity of the alpine environment, all residents and guests adhere to specific community guidelines:

Quiet Hours: To preserve the natural silence of the mountains, quiet hours are strictly observed from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. Noise travels easily in this canyon setting, and the community prioritizes a peaceful experience for all neighbors.

Dark Sky Preservation: In accordance with local low-light ordinances, all outdoor lighting must be turned off no later than 10:00 p.m. This ensures the neighborhood remains a spectacular location for stargazing, free from light pollution.

The Surrounding Landscape

The area is characterized by dramatic elevation changes, private mountain creeks, and sweeping views of the surrounding peaks. It is a place where the sounds of nature—the wind through the trees and the flow of nearby water—replace the noise of the modern world.
