  • Beautiful, comfortable, clean, private. Wonderful accommodations all around. We stayed for 6 nights. They had travel guides, snorkeling sets and a boogie board for us to (website hidden) was very kind and helpful. We would certainly stay there again.

  • Overall this is a very nice place to stay in Waimea. It's spacious and attractively decorated. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking simple meals and there are a lot of other nice amenities such as beach towels and snorkel equipment that you can borrow. Joanna (property manager) is very kind and helpful and has two adorable dogs that love to be petted. As others have mentioned though, cleanliness was also an issue for us. The sink and shower in the bathroom were not well cleaned and the stove and area around the fridge were also a bit dirty. We encountered several large black bugs in the suite during our stay. I realize that insects are somewhat inevitable in a tropical climate and there were just a few, but I also think that a really thorough scrubbing of the kitchen might make a difference.

  • A beautiful, quiet & charming place.
It's perfectly clean, very quaint and pretty. The kitchen is very well-equipped, and I can highly recommend the Hibiscus Suite.

It also happens to be very well-located for most of what you might want to do in the north part of the Big Island.

One thing to mention - if you're staying, make sure you get the address before you go! In my foolishness I only got the zip code (the house number didn't come with the reservation) and that caused a bit of confusion, but Barrie was easy to reach and it was quickly resolved.

In any case, a very pleasant experience! Thanks so much!

  • Barrie will be a good host. She would from time to time stop by or catch me on the fly to see how I was getting on with the Waimea visit and let me know what the local happening events would be while I was there for 6 days. The cottage is artistically done up and very comfortable.
I heartily recommend that you should try it.

  • Nice place to stay in Wiamea. Very clean, nice friendly hosts. Affordable and easy to book, check in/check out. Only downside is that it is a bit close to the highway which can be noisy.

  • Our experience at the Hibiscus Suite was just ok. The location was fine, it was quiet, we enjoyed the cool breezes. The kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed having our coffee out in the garden each morning, and Joanna was very nice.

But cleanliness was an issue. There was a used towel left in our bathroom when we arrived, the shower, toilet and sink were not cleaned properly. Considering the cleaning fee charged, this was not acceptable.

Waimea is a convenient place to stay in if you want to visit many areas of the island. We visited the beaches, the northern point, Waip'io Valley and more with ease from this location.

All in all, it was ok but I think we would not return. We stayed at 2 other locations on the island, both cheaper and better maintained.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The hibiscus suite is clean, comfortable and has a very warm cottage like feel. It's conveniently located for exploring the northern half of the island and we filled our days jumping from the east side jungle like valleys to the ranch areas around the suite and then to the west side beaches for sunset and all within short drives from Barrie's place. We never got to meet Barrie because we were out most of the days but she was very prompt responding to us in the booking process and ready to offer any advice or help if needed.
Thanks again for a great stay.
