Our stunning 3 bedroom home is 3 minutes to some of the best mountain biking and hiking in the U.S. We are in Fairfax, CA which is in Southern Marin, about 35 minutes from SF, 30 minutes from Point Reyes and 45 minutes to wine country. Fairfax is one of the sunniest spots in Marin and is a lively town for only 7,000 residents. We have 3 live music venues, a wine bar, a brewery, a Thai restaurant, an Indian restaurant, the best natural foods grocery store in the county and MUCH more.
Our special home has hard wood floors throughout, windows everywhere looking onto the mountains. The house is quiet and set up high, but a 12 minute walk to town, or a 5 minute bike ride to town. The Star House, as we call it, is in the shape of Jewish star... you can't tell when you are inside but you can see it from our spectacular yard which sits behind the house. The yard has veggies, a lawn and terrace with a hammock and the most delicious view of Mt. Tam.
The Star House is set up for kids... 2 kid's rooms, a trampoline in the yard, a ping pong table in our playroom. We have 2 flat screen TVs, an XBox... and so much more. The adult bedroom has a European Sleepworks mattress. We have a gourmet stove (and AGA), too.

2 minutes to some of the best hiking and biking trails in Marin. We are a 10 minute walk to the center of town. Incredible views of the Mt. Tam Water Shed from the living room and our expansive yard.
We really enjoyed our long weekend in the Star House in Fairfax. It is in a beautiful location and the house held lots of fun surprises, from the gas fire pit up on the hillside to the ping pong table in the basement. There was plenty of room for us and our three adult children. The kitchen is connected to the living space so we spent a lot of time cooking, chatting and hanging out together there. The floors are connected by ladders, which is entertaining if a bit challenging at times! There are outside stairs for those who may be less able, and this house would not be a good fit for people with mobile disabilities.
The neighborhood is very interesting and the shops and restaurants in Fairfax were a 15 minute walk away, which we enjoyed.
It's really generous of Lisa and her husband to share their fantastic home. Lisa was welcoming us with open arms and they really want you to enjoy the house like they do. The house in on a beautiful location, with amazing views. Fairfax at it's best! We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to rent the house again.

We really enjoyed our time in the Star House, which indeed is special in many ways, its unusual architecture, its friendly and open design, its wonderful views and nice garden area. Being there a couple of summer days it has very quickly turned out the be an ideal base not only for Fairfax, a nice little town in the area, but also to explore greater S.F. area at all. Although never met personally, Lisa was a very nice host, trustful, responsive, reliable and - in the word's best sense - uncomplicated. Thanks for all ...
We LOVED the Star House. Beautiful. Great location and perfect home base to explore Fairfax and Marin. We fell in love with the sweet town of Fairfax. Lisa was so easy to work with and responsive. Our kids enjoyed the ladders to each of the different levels of the house-cool idea! Also, the view from both the house and the seating area up the hill is stunning. We highly recommend!
I stayed at Lisa's place during the winter break and it was ideal for many reasons. It was situated in a secluded, quiet house with absolutely beautiful views. It was also, for our needs close enough to San Francisco, Napa but a little bit away from too much urban activity. Fairfax is also a lovely, friendly town with cute restaurants and cafes.
The house was quite airy and the open kitchen area was nice to be able to share a communal space. We did go in winter so it's too bad we couldn't enjoy more of the outdoor spaces, but nonetheless, it was a great experience. Lisa was clear and easy to communicate with and made the transaction quite easy.
We have a 2-year old toddler and this house was perfect for us! Fairfax is a lovely small town - great local restaurants, parks and lots of trees. The "star" house is filled with air and light and has such an amazing view of the surrounding mountains that you would be totally happy not venturing out. We did take a few day trips though (late July) - Muir Woods, Point Reyes, Sausalito, Napa and Golden Gate Park - all of the the drive times were between 30 - 45 minutes. The hosts were lovely and we really enjoyed the yard, which includes gardens, gorgeous mountain views and a trampoline. The kitchen is super roomy and inviting. Fairfax is far enough from the Golden Gate to avoid too much fog and marine layer, we enjoyed sunny mornings. This was our first Airbnb trip and it was stellar. We would happily stay at this location again! Fairfax = relax!
