Overall Guest Satisfaction

  • Elena's apartment was clean and neat and nicely decorated. The livingroom and the bedroom were compfy and the american style kitchen bar matched pretty well with the livingroom. The apartment is quite well situated (10-15min footwalk from the historic center) in the Albaicin, in one of the old, whitewashed houses. Something to improve would be providing some coffee cups and more cuttlery. Overall, the apartment was ok but in our opinion a little bit too expensive.

  • Un lugar muy tranquilo y cercano al centro. Tanto Elena como su madre muy amables.

  • First of all, the apartment is super nice, very well decorated, spacious, has a homely feel to it and everything you need. The area is also perfect as it is quiet and is only a short walk from the downtown restaurant area. There was a review that said there was a barking dog; while there is a dog next door in the owner's house, it seldom barks and is very nice.

The owner, Matilde, has been just amazing. When we arrived, the apartment was spotless and even had rolled up towels and candies on the pillows! Whenever we needed anything, we just sent an email to Elena (her daughter), who responded almost right away and helped us out. Matilde is an extremely nice woman and made us feel very welcome the entire time we spent there.

We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a hassle free stay. There are places in the downtown area, but this would not be ideal due to the traffic and other noise.

Also, take a look on trip advisor for tapa restaurants. Our favourite was a little sort of 'dive' called Nuestro bar. Awesome fried calamari, super plentiful portions and super cheap. Alfredo, who works on weekends is also a reason to go there. For restaurants, La Olivia is one of the best meal experiences that we've ever had. He's rated #1 in all of Granada on trip advisor and he certainly lives up to the hype.

Thanks Matilde and Elena for everything! We will definitely pass your name on to our friends and might be back ourselves!

  • The apartment is in a great location, an amazing deal for the size. A full living room, kitchen, etc. - beats any hotel! I walked easily to all of the key parts of town. I never met Elena - she was out for work - but still had some help from her very kind mother. Highly recommended!

  • After a rocky start (unfortunately), we came to really enjoy our time at Mathilde's apartment (who was our primary contact - never met Elena). First, the many positive things: great location very close to the Alhambra and the older, very beautiful parts of the city. We could walk to all the major sites and to many of the wonderful tapas places. The apartment is very comfortable and was clean and pleasant and comfortable. Mathilde was very nice and helpful when she could be. She gave us a wonderful recommendation for tapas - Diamantes!
Some challenges of the apartment were:
    - no house number! We (and our taxi driver) couldn't find the apartment at first and looked for around 20 minutes! This was really stressful after a long day of international travel.
    - useful to have a brief orientation to the apartment - we were let into the apartment by a very nice young man who basically gave us the key, and left. We were tired and disoriented after a day of travel - not knowing which room was a bedroom and which the bathroom (all the doors were closed) I pushed on one only to discover that it was an off-limits room and I damaged the door frame. I paid the owner 60 Euro to have it repaired. A brief orientation to the apartment would be very helpful.
    - a fair bit of noise in the next room from barking dogs - we know that we have to accept noise from neighbours as a usual part of life - however, it was ofter very distracting.

So, overall, we want people to know that this is a very nice place - it is clean and central. Granada is absolutely beautiful!

  • Matilda was an amazing hostess. I had left my medication in a hotel near Valencia and she arranged to have it shipped to her. She also went with me to an urgent care clinic to get a temporary supply of my medication until the parcel arrived. And she allowed us to use her computer when ours was not functioning properly. I cannot imagine anybody doing more for a guest than she did.

  • Casita muy acogedora y bién situada. Ideal para escaparse a Granada.
Se puede aparcar en la puerta sin necesidad de parking.

    March 2012
  • Good email contact from the host at the start and with the directions given I found the apartment easily. There is a small but steep and uneven hill/slope to get up to the apartment which with a 20 kilo case wasn't easy, but I managed. The accommodation is lovely inside and was tidy, fairly clean and quite comfortable. It is decorated in a typical Spanish way but is still fairly modern and attractive.

The apartment is attached via 1 door to the rest of the house and is pretty noisy.. With the telephone, the door intercom loud ring, voices talking and shouting etc.. this was all fairly acceptable, however, the 2 dogs of medium size and their squeaky toy was harder to bear with their constant and late night barking and playing.

Despite the superb location, I wouldn't stay here again and would recommend any future guests get some really good ear plugs before their arrival.
