friendly service, amazing view, stylish interior, best place ever!
love this house, love Sajan
Best spot I've ever been. Ida picked us up from the temple lodge which saved us looking to find the place, which was great!
Amazing location once you make the epic decent down the many stairs. the open plan living space which literally perches you right on the waters edge with 180 degree views from Uluwatu, through Impossibles, Padang Padang, Bingin, Dreamland and off to the airport. Our favourite thing was to sit on one of the two balconies sipping drinks and watching the planes fly in and take off as the sun set and the lines of swell rolled in.
With little restaurants, seafood BBQs on the beach and Ida the host to do the cleaning, shopping, cooking and massages, you almost have no need to leave, which is quite appealing as the climb down which is epic enough coming down is even more epic going up. That said the stairs are in good condition and the Bukit Peninsula is great place to explore and with Ida organising scooters for us we were able to cruise around to get to all the other spots on the Bukit very easily.
There were few slightly frustrating things: the internet wifi reception was very bad and the towels and linen didn't get changed so became quite dirty but other than that we had an amazing time and would highly recommend to everyone.
House manager physically assaulted my friend.
So we admittedly had several problems here. First off was simply finding the place – I contacted both the manager and owner by email and phone to try to set up a driver or for better directions, but never heard back. We ended up taking a cab to the lot described in the confirmation email, and there is nothing there. We followed signs on foot to the “Bingin Beach Surf House”, but that wasn’t it. The location marked on (website hidden) maps was off by a solid mile as well. It took us 2 hours to find the house, and with 4 people hauling luggage in the afternoon heat that was quite unpleasant.
The housekeeper was quite nice, but the manager really creeped out my friends and girlfriend. If you rent a house there shouldn’t be some random guy there, playing around in the hammock and trying to join your card game.
The biggest problem was when it came time to leave. We had requested a metered taxi to meet us in the morning, but instead house manager showed up with his own car. Fine, we agreed to a price and set off. However (like other reviewers experienced) when we got to our destination the manager demanded almost twice the agreed upon price! He grew angry when we wouldn’t pay the full extra amount and physically attacked one of my friends. If it was my home country we would have called the police.
It was the worst experience I’ve had in many years and 20+ countries of travel. I could not recommend this house.
We are VERY sorry to hear of your bad experience with the taxi service. We have immediately stopped recommending Yuli service and have a list of other drivers that other guests can contact.
About arrival was a last mint request and message was seen by me in Airbnb after arrival time .....direction r on the site how to get to the house !!! u might have missed . OM
Once you get down the steps and to the house, the location is unbeatable. Right on the sand. Amazing views, sound of waves, stars at nite.
If you're concerned by some of the comments about the state of the house , be aware that it is a beach house. It's not the Four Seasons. It's very clean, but the elements do take their toll - but even so, the state of the place is pretty darn good. The house keeper comes every day, and keeps it very clean. She's very nice, happy to take care of needs. A few mosquitos at nite, no other bugs at all (minus a gecko or two).
Yuli (the care taker / driver / purveyor of all things), is a good guy, but he does like to try and make a little extra money for his family. Just give him directions clearly for your taxi rides. If you want to go to Jimbaran - tell him where exactly, or you'll end up at his friend's restaurant. Rent your scooter from the local Bingin Beach lot - not his personal scooter.
All-in-all, the place was terrific. A great chill place. Close to Uluwatu beach & Padang Padang, which are super cool little surf spots, away from the mega resorts. Jimbaran for seafood - just 20 min away. And Sajan was great to deal with. Remember what you're paying - you really can't beat this place for the price.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a beautiful stay at Sagan beach house. The view was magnificent and the place is clean and lovely and big enough for all my large family!
Romantic view of rocks and sea and so wonderful to hear the waves as we sleep.light airy house-contemporary style.
Ida the helper made us great breakfast and keeps the house immaculate
P.s. the construction mentioned in some previous reviews is over and actually they made another lovely place next door, but we prefer this one.
Thanks for a great retreat!
Not really sure what previous reviewers meant saying the place was old and shabby - is a beach pad on Bingin with amazing views - not really old, just a little exposed to the sun for a few years and has real charm, but.....
....started off badly with the manager Yulli picking us up from Seminyak for an agreed 300k rph, three of us travelling and one had to go back to the local shop to collect a dropped bag and in the confusion he got paid 600k rph - phoned him afterwards and he denied it all saying that was the agreed price, then pretended he couldn't speak English despite the hr long drive chatting away. See ya later Yulli for any more busines.. His wife and the cleaner helped us down with the bags, tipped them and the wife started complaining asking 'what am I meant to buy with this?!' See ya later wifey for more business... The cleaner was lovely though, really nice and always helpful.
The building work is still going on, not doing the heavy work with jackhammers but now on the interior, so brick saw going most days 9-5 with cement dust clouds choking us out on the deck and tile clippings littering the steps down to the beach like booby traps to cut your feet, steps also used to to build makeshift scaffolding by the builders so even more precarious than usual. Builders also have a changing room and open air shitter right underneath the balcony, real nice touch. The new place completely obscures the view down bingin beach as well.
Nice place, but give it a few months and avoid the dick of a manager.
We had a great stay at Bingin- it's just so nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta and Seminyak! We were a group of friends who had traveled to Bali for a friends wedding in Uluwatu and enjoyed that we could chill out, watch the surfers and relax with a book and a cold beer on the deck looking out over the ocean without being hassled by hawkers.
We were lead by the tide as to when we could swim, and it is quiet rocky, but we could still get in and have a dip to cool off- this is a popular surf beach after all so it is on a reef.
A few great little restaurants along the beach where we could eat seafood like kings and still be happily surprised when the bill came.
Yuli was wonderful in coordinating our various pick up and drop offs to airports/bus stations/wedding venue- THANK YOU
And Inda was delightful and cooked fab bannana pancakes and omelets for us for breakfast- not to mentioned assisted with luggage down the steps of doom and arranged for a crate of beer to magically appear at our door one morning. She also does a wonderful massage- THANK YOU
The warnings about the steps are real- would defiantly recommend a back pack above a suitcase, and pick up supplies before you come, or Inda can help out. But once you're in, it is a great place to chill out for a few days and let your worries glide away.
Pre-arranging airport pick up is also a good idea- this oasis is tucked away and trying to explain where it is to a taxi drive is challenging.
