Charming, rustic efficiency cottage in bucolic South Wellfleet woods, next to my house, view (through the woods) of Blackfish Creek tidal marsh. 2 minute walk to bus lines, So. Wellfleet General Store, and a fantastic French bistro and bakery; 2 minute bike ride to beautiful Cape Cod Rail Trail; 1 mile from Lecount's Hollow ocean beach, and a short car, bus or bike ride (3.2 miles) to the town of Wellfleet. Cottage has 2 twin beds; kitchenette w/2-burner stove, convection oven, microwave & coffee maker. Linens, towels (including beach towels!), cooking & eating utensils are furnished. Small bathroom w/stall shower, also may use outdoor shower on main house. Available by the weekend, week, month or season.
Note that a washer and dryer are available (in my house) for rentals of two weeks or more; however, if a "wardrobe malfunction" should arise, I'm more than happy to make an exception to that rule-just let me know.
John's place is terrific. It's appointed with everything you might need for your stay and John is a welcoming and helpful host. We would definitely stay here again.
Great stay in a wonderful part of Cape Cod. John is a great host, and this small, rustic studio has everything you need. For the price, you can't beat it. Recommended.
Wonderful cosy cottage in the bright pine woods. All the amenities. Great host. Very convenient location (close to road 6, but quiet and private. All amenities there, comfortable to rent for a week and just relax. Highly recommended!
Our little family of 3 had a great time at this little cottage in Wellfleet. John is great! Very helpful and showed us great hospitality during the 5 nights we stayed at Cape Cod. You will find everything you need in the little kitchen. There is also a practical shower, the water stays hot, and plenty of towels around. A air-heater if it gets cold and two huge doors to open during summertime. There is free and reliable Internet. Its close to the main road, a little drive or bustrip to Shaw's in Orleans, where you can get all the food you can think of. You will find the old pittoresque village of Wellfleet around the corner and - the highlight of our trip - whale watching from Provincetown. Dont forget the beautiful beaches and the possibility to rent John and his newly painted boat for a little cruise.
Its a place we will return to and that we truly recommend to anyone who is looking for an affordable place, placed in the middle of Cape Cod. Thanks for everything, John!
All the best,
Kalle, Marjanne and little Sally
This was our first trip to the Cape and John's cottage was the perfect place for us. It had everything we need and was quite cozy & comfortable. The location was perfect - right off Route 6 in the mid Cape which made it easy to get around. John was a great host and we hope to stay at his place again soon.
We really lucked out finding John and his wonderful cottage. We'd been searching for something for a while and were beginning to think that Cape Cod was too expensive for us but then we found just the kind of place we were looking for, in Wellfleet and in our price range! For us it was pretty much perfect with everything we needed to make ourselves feel at home: cookware, microwave, toaster/oven, fridge, plentiful towels and extra sheets (if we had needed them). It's a steal of a deal for Cape Cod and is also within walking distance of the amazing PB Boulangerie/Bistro, a liquor store, Blue Willow Foods, the northern end of the Cape Cod Rail Trail and ocean side beaches (down Lecount Hollowe Rd.) thus saving money on parking at the beach. Highly recommended. Hopefully we'll make it back sometime soon and take John up on one of his boat rides!
My fiance and I stayed at John's cottage for a long weekend in late August. The place had everything we needed-an equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and plenty of towels (he provides beach towels too!). A great deal and we look forward to staying there again next year. A very convenient location as well, just off route 6...Thanks John!
I was looking for simple, reasonably priced, comfortable place to stay for a few days with my fiance in Wellfleet. John's little hideaway hit all the right notes. Everything was clean and fresh: the bedding, the kitchenette and bathroom, the generous number of towels, and the blue flowers that sweetly graced the little eating table. The shower was hot and strong and the big front door, when open, brings in tons of light and air.
It's private and quiet, but also close to Route 6, so it's a cinch by car or on bikes to get to the beach, the ponds, and Wellfleet Center.
John was very helpful and accommodating: there when needed but not intrusive. He's very knowledgeable about Wellfleet. I would have liked to have gotten to know him better, especially in light of his many talents: licensed pilot of a sailboat you can charter for tours, jazz musician, and more. It's a small space, but it worked great for us.
