There’s so much to do within walking distance! Abbot Kinney shops/restaurants (some of the best in the city!), the beach, bike path, famous Venice Beach boardwalk and Venice Canals. Main Street Santa Monica shops, the Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade are all close by.
Malibu, Westwood, Century City, Beverly Hills and Hollywood are just 20-35 minutes away. The studio is within a 15-20 minute drive from LAX and can also be reached by public transportation from the airport.

You can reach many local attractions by walking or on bike. If you wish to explore other parts of the city, I highly recommend the iPhone app Uber. It provides convenient transportation cheaper than a regular taxi.

Checking in to John’s place was the beginning of an amazing vacation. His check in procedure is seamless and meticulously planned with very straightforward instructions. As soon as we walked in to his place, we knew we picked the perfect airbnb. It felt exactly like staying in a fine hotel, with high quality linens, towels, coffee, etc, but without the hassle of checking in to a hotel. The cleanliness was second to none.
His attention to decor and detail, being surrounded with beautiful blooming bougainvilleas, the open air feeling, high ceilings, skylights, were just a few of the exceptional details that stood out to us. Parking was a huge plus! Electric gate opens up and you have a parking space directly in front. Could not get any better than this. Actually, we never needed our car after that because it is right in the center of the most desirable area in Venice, walking distance to the beach during the day, and in the evening, just one block away from ‘GQ’s trendiest street in America! We saw a few celebrities in the restaurants John recommended which added to our first experience in Southern California! We will definitely be back! Thank you John!
The house is gorgeous - filled with unique and artistic details. A really lovely home to stay in. We had a small, unforeseeable snafu upon check-in. John was very responsible and gracious and handled it very responsibly. I highly recommend staying here and look forward to another visit.
Very easy to check in. Clean, cozy, great TV and sound system. Very funky and cool. Great location, steps to the beach!!
A true Venice cottage–John's place was charming, serene and very well taken care of. The location is one of the best in Venice–close to the Boardwalk and Abott Kinney. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.
John clearly has spent some time designing the space and with the flowering bougainvillea and the plantings, he should be commended for the design of a charming light-filled space. The pictures were largely accurate but the interior is slightly more worn then the pictures indicate. Also, the bedroom loft area is a cool design but getting up there is highly impractical and having to crouch to get to the bedroom is uncomfortable. We left a light on in the hallway as we were afraid of falling down the stairs in the middle of the night. We also had issues with the quality and cleanliness of the bedding but John addressed this by having the cleaning lady change the sheets the next day. However, I wish I had known the following regarding the location: (i) it is not ideal for children as the location is a bit out of the way from the main centers of Venice; (ii) the front yard is unfinished so you drive into a dirt area rather than a proper front yard or driveway (So, it is a bit off-putting when you first arrive); (iii) the beach being nearby was a lovely perk but it is filled with homeless people and has lots of litter; and (iv) the area itself is a bit edgy (next to a liquor store) and it is not recommended for walking at night.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: I have hosted hundreds of guests who love my place which is why it is 5 STAR listing. I spend an enormous amount of time to create a welcoming, clean, beautiful space so that guests have an unforgettable, unique vacation. I love what I do and it has been very gratifying.
Unfortunately, there are 1 out of 100 guests who should be screened from using Airbnb. I don’t feel the need to be specific, but it's the first time I've had complaints from my neighbors after years of being a host. I will say that my apartment was left in an unsatisfactory condition.
Wow! What a fantastic apartment! I fell in love with it the moment I walked in the door. It is very spacious, clean, sun-drenched (I had to look the word up, I hope it's right ;)) has all the appliances you need (big fridge, washer, dryer, hair dryer, TV/Apple TV for Netflix), it has a very comfy bed and you can walk to the beach in 3 minutes. The check-in and check-out were as hassle-free as they can get. All I needed was the code to the parking lot (right at the back of the house) and mypersonal code for the apartment door. That was it. John responded within minutes when any questions arose. I enjoyed my time at John's apartment. It felt like home. Beware that check-out is at 10 am. And when you type the address into your GPS, be sure to type in the address of the parking lot. It took me 10 minutes to figure that one out. That happens when you don't read the information properly ;).
Anyway, I can't recommend John's apartment enough.
We really enjoyed our stay in Venice! The apartment is charming, quirky, and gorgeous. We loved the turret style bedroom and overall the space had great windows and lighting. Parking was great. A quick walk from the beach, Abbott Kinney, and plenty of great restaurants. The area is a little grungy and home to an interesting mix of hipsters, hippies, tourists, locals. John gave us plenty of space but was also accessible and responsive when we needed him. A definite pleasure, we would love to stay again.

I'm extremely organized, dependable and detail-oriented so rest assured I'll make sure you stay goes well. I love managing my vacation rentals in Venice and love sharing the unique, beachy vibe I create in each place. I'll be easily reachable throughout your stay should something arise.
I love being active...yoga, pilates, or hiking daily is a must! I have traveled to over forty countries, and can't wait for my next adventure. My favorites are India, Syria and Thailand.
One of the most popular bars (website hidden)eer and wine only.
On a clear day, grab a drink on the rooftop and enjoy incredible coastline and city views. Amazing at sunset.
The best coffee I've ever tasted. Cool vibe and a great place to work.
One of the hottest restaurants in LA. Reservations are a must for a table, but if you arrive early, you could get a spot at the communal table.
Just two blocks away, one of LA's trendiest streets with boutique shops and great restaurants.
It's vegan but delicious. All organic.
Venice founder Abbot Kinney fashioned these canals to resemble Venice, Italy. Charming place to walk around.
A local favorite. Small plates. Expensive but worth it.
My personal favorite. Great vibe, friendly service, excellent Peruvian food, decent prices. Generally easy to get a table.
Long walk street with tons of stores. More commercialized and touristy than Venice, but great for shopping.
Just a couple blocks away, visit the famous boardwalk to see all the characters, ride your bike or enjoy the beach.
