There’s so much to do within walking distance! Abbot Kinney shops/restaurants (some of the best in the city!), the beach, bike path, famous Venice Beach boardwalk and Venice Canals. Main Street Santa Monica shops, the Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade are all close by.
Malibu, Westwood, Century City, Beverly Hills and Hollywood are just 20-35 minutes away. The studio is within a 15-20 minute drive from LAX and can also be reached by public transportation from the airport.

You can reach many local attractions by walking or on bike. If you wish to explore other parts of the city, I highly recommend the iPhone app Uber. It provides convenient transportation cheaper than a regular taxi.
Other Things to Note
Pet-free, feather-free, non-smoking, very clean.
Keep gate shut at all times and door closed when you are out. No smoking and no additional visitors without prior permission. Please do not wear shoes inside. Use coasters under drinks to prevent damage to furniture. Please don't go on the roof -- it's not designed to support full body weight! Please observe the checkout time so I can prep the place for the next guest.
John's place is great; it's a classic, unique, quirky space, very Venice. I can totally recommend it, especially if you're into light — it's beautiful and bright by day and a total charmer by night. I'd say the entrance to the bedroom is a little more than a 'slight head duck'; you kinda have to crouch for about three full steps to get inside from the stairwell. . . but this is not a defect, it's just cool and weird! And the bedroom itself is worth the trouble, the 360-degree window thing is quite the magic trick. Great place, great kitchen, great host! Book it!
The place was in a perfect location - blocks from the beach and short walk to Abbott Kinney. Really liked the spacious kitchen and 2-levels was really comfortable.
John is very accommodating and gets back to you right away on anything!
Great home and neighborhood (if you're okay with a few rough edges). We loved our stay there.
Checking in to John’s place was the beginning of an amazing vacation. His check in procedure is seamless and meticulously planned with very straightforward instructions. As soon as we walked in to his place, we knew we picked the perfect airbnb. It felt exactly like staying in a fine hotel, with high quality linens, towels, coffee, etc, but without the hassle of checking in to a hotel. The cleanliness was second to none.
His attention to decor and detail, being surrounded with beautiful blooming bougainvilleas, the open air feeling, high ceilings, skylights, were just a few of the exceptional details that stood out to us. Parking was a huge plus! Electric gate opens up and you have a parking space directly in front. Could not get any better than this. Actually, we never needed our car after that because it is right in the center of the most desirable area in Venice, walking distance to the beach during the day, and in the evening, just one block away from ‘GQ’s trendiest street in America! We saw a few celebrities in the restaurants John recommended which added to our first experience in Southern California! We will definitely be back! Thank you John!
The house is gorgeous - filled with unique and artistic details. A really lovely home to stay in. We had a small, unforeseeable snafu upon check-in. John was very responsible and gracious and handled it very responsibly. I highly recommend staying here and look forward to another visit.
Very easy to check in. Clean, cozy, great TV and sound system. Very funky and cool. Great location, steps to the beach!!
A true Venice cottage–John's place was charming, serene and very well taken care of. The location is one of the best in Venice–close to the Boardwalk and Abott Kinney. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.
