The space

Charming furnished apt. on 2 floors, fully furnished. Wonderful open-air kitchen, queen size beds, 1 1/2 bthrms, greenery everywhere, in one of the most sought-after districts of colonial San Miguel de Allende, easy walking distance to the main plaza and all the principal sites and places of interest. Wireless internet, basic cable, central purified water throughout, weekly use of washer/dryer, very large private terrace, pet-friendly - a dog and a cat live on the property. You will enjoy tranquility and privacy from the moment you walk through the door into the walled garden and up the path to the steps that lead to your apartment, which is where "your space" begins ..... with the romantic roof-top bedroom and a view of all the church spires and domes that San Miguel is famous for. Housekeeping service once weekly.

There is a small, cozy restaurant a block away, if you don't feel like cooking in your fully furnished open air kitchen. And ... an easy ten minute walk will take you to a variety of San Miguel's restaurants to choose from.

Those who love the outdoors, lots of light and Nature, will be very happy here!

Guest access

You will have access through the main garden to your apartment, which includes 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bthrms, sitting room, open-air kitchen, and large roof terrace with outdoor furniture. You will also have access to the laundry area on the ground floor and use of the washer and dryer one day a week.

Interaction with guests

Interaction with guests in general is minimal and easy. I live and work on the property and am available when the occasional concern that requires my input arises, which when possible, will be solved immediately. I will receive and orient guests and be happy to answer questions during the first days. If you are staying for more than just a few days, I expect that you enjoy discovering new places on your own and will make use of the many sources of information available to you both in the apartment and around town. And of course, I am always reachable in an emergency, since you will have my cell phone number.

No smoking, please. No loud parties. We are energy savers, so have invested in LED bulbs, and we turn off lights that aren't being used, etc.
In order to respect others on the property, use of the clothes washer and dryer is restricted to the hours from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the day of the week pre-assigned to you.
Enjoy and care for this delightful home as if it were your own .... but also relax in it, and feel as free and comfortable in it as if it truly were your own. Most of all, it is a place of harmony and of mutual respect, where guests can leave to enjoy the wonderful attractions of San Miguel and engage in all its festivities, frenetic or otherwise - or a hard day of shopping - then come back home to relax and breathe in the feel of peace, beauty and one's own space.

Lovely setting... a home on a street with multiple colors both painted and grown. Then enter through the door to a wonderfully lush garden and on to the stairs to the upper apartment. My favorite space was the upper bedroom which opens onto a terrace with a bench swing. The bedroom is lined by windows from which you can see the church steeples in town and hear the birds singing and watch them fly about. Loved my perch! However it wouldn't be good for someone who has difficulty with lots of stairs and narrow passages. In terms of locations, I enjoyed being away from the hustle of el jardin (a 15 -20 minute walk uphill), and the only downside was that there weren't any nearby places to get something to eat. So just be sure to buy a few things for those hungry moments at home.

We had a wonderful time in San Miguel and Heather's beautiful gardens were the perfect welcome home after a long day of site seeing! The apartment is in the San Antonio neighborhood which is about a 10 minute walk to the plaza, and there are short cuts (ask Heather about the Life Path) to other areas. The apartment has everything you need, the kitchen is outdoors which feels a bit like camping, but stays dry when it rains, we really only used it for making coffee. SMA is full of great, inexpensive places to eat...DON'T cook, eat out! Be sure and stay in the area and eat at some of the family restaurants, 2 of our favorites...El Buen Cafe on San Gorge for breakfast and burger night, and El Rinconcito for dinner (get Key Lime pie!!) One word of caution about Heather's place there's a lot of narrow steps to get up to the apt. and then to the 2nd bedroom. The views of the towers and the balloons flying over are amazing....and so is the noise! but you're in Mexico and that's part of the deal...roosters, dogs, fireworks, music...take it all in and love it!! A little bonus is use of a washer/dryer so you don't have to over pack (bring your own detergent). And there are guide books in the apt. also. Heather is a welcoming, very chill host and we thank her for a nice stay at her beautiful place!!!

This home is everything I could have dreamed of and more. I hope you can book it! The neighborhood is gorgeous with meandering little cobblestone streets, flowering vines and beautiful handcrafted homes, there is a great market nearby and it's very close to the Instituto Allende and also the parrochia and center of town. Heather is a very welcoming and brilliant host and the home and garden she has created are inspiring beyond measure. I dream of returning. I loved-the tower bedroom with private rooftop garden, views of the city and hummingbirds with bougainvillea and succulent gardens, the full kitchen, well appointed, incredibly clean living room, bathroom and bedrooms and the mature and magical garden with the you get walk through everyday. Thank you Heather! This was the trip of a lifetime!

This is a great place for exploring San Miguel de Allende. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and pretty much all of SMA is within easy walking distance. We never used the car or a taxi and we very much enjoyed our walks to and from the city center. We're a family of four and the house was a very good fit for us. Airy, plenty of room, open air kitchen, a terrace, nice garden, a bit of a view, filtered water, wifi... it's all there. The listing and pictures describe the place well.

My friends and I stayed for a long weekend at Heather's and it was just as described. The photos really do show how beautiful her home is. It was a little further from the city center than we'd liked- so remember to bring comfortable walking shoes as there is a big hill before getting to the center. Very comfortable accommodations and clean! There was a bit of miscommunication in the beginning but it was quickly handled. I would recommend staying at Heather's if you want to be close enough to the center but far from the noise and bustle.
