Charming furnished apt. on 2 floors, fully furnished. Wonderful open-air kitchen, queen size beds, 1 1/2 bthrms, greenery everywhere, in one of the most sought-after districts of colonial San Miguel de Allende, easy walking distance to the main plaza and all the principal sites and places of interest. Wireless internet, basic cable, purified water throughout, weekly use of washer/dryer, very large private terrace, pet-friendly - my dogs love company! You will enjoy tranquility and privacy from the moment you walk through the door into the walled garden and up the path to your apartment, with the romantic roof-top bedroom and a view of all the church spires and domes that San Miguel is famous for. Housekeeping service weekly.
There is a Yoga Center just a few doors away. Small Mexican restaurants nearby, if you don't feel like cooking in your fully furnished open air kitchen. And ... an easy ten minute walk will take you to a variety of San Miguel's restaurants to choose from.
Those who love the outdoors, lots of light and Nature, will be very happy here!
Interaction with guests in general is minimal and easy. I live and work on the property and am available when the occasional concern that requires my input arises, which when possible, will be solved immediately. I will receive and orient guests and be happy to answer questions during the first days. If you are staying for more than just a few days, I expect that you enjoy discovering new places on your own and will make use of the many sources of information available to you both in the apartment and around town. And of course, I am always reachable in an emergency, since you will have my cell phone number.
The neighbourhood is mixed Mexican with both "snowbird", seasonal and permanent international residents. When the weather is right, the street is a riot of vivid flowering bougainvillea bushes, especially during the rainy season. There are dogs that bark - some more than others - and "environmental music" often spills over from neighbouring houses.. .you don't get to pick the play list or the volume.... the San Antonio district is no stranger to fireworks, "cohetes" at odd hours of the day and night, and many of the traditional fiestas originate in or pass through this part of San Miguel, albeit generally at a distance of a few blocks away. If you are adventurous, you can stand on the street corner and eat hot, charred elotes straight off the coals, sprinkled with lime, salt and red hot pepper. Or try your luck and your Spanish in the market. In other words, the neighbourhood will give you "the full Mexican experience" if you open your eyes and your senses, slow your steps, query differences instead of judging them, maybe try some on, smile a lot, buy hand-made tortillas around the corner on Canal St, and fill them with rajas y champiñones for breakfast, walk slowly, breathe deeply, listen for the church bells, and smile a lot.
There is public bus service around town, as well as inexpensive taxis, and also" cuatri-moto" rentals. There is a new car rental service. relatively expensive. Excellent transportation to/from the airports is provided by BajioGo shuttle service, among others. There is street parking - sometimes you have to struggle for it! - and if you plan to walk most of the time, it is recommendable to place your vehicle in one of the parking lots around, for a moderate fee.

We LOVED staying at Heather's place; it was just as beautiful as the images show (and more so). Heather was a wonderful host—helpful and welcoming, but allowing for plenty of privacy and independence too. I felt that I could turn to her with questions any time, and when I did, she was a wealth of knowledge!
The space is truly fantastic; the rooftop bedroom was so unique! Sun-drenched and up in the treetops, it had a treehouse feel (except with all the amenities). I relaxed (and exercised and did yoga) in the rooftop patio with the birds most mornings, with lovely views of Central SMA—and I could see the lights of town twinkling at me from bed at night. I also really enjoyed the outdoor kitchen, which even during a downpour, was quite protected, the best of inside-outside living. Internet was great (important as I was doing work while in SMA), and the location was ideal; in a real neighborhood set just a bit away from the center of town, it was safe, comfortable and convenient. This is my fave AirBnB experience to date. Thank you Heather!
What a fabulous place. This beautiful ,quiet nabourhood was just what we were looking for.Heather's beautiful lodgings are an oasis within the town.A short 10 minute walk gets you to the market,El Jardin,or any place you might want to visit. The apartment is very well equipped and very comfortable. We couldn't have asked for anything more.Heather was the perfect host, always greeting you with smiles and (website hidden) one could be more (email hidden)eph and I would not hesitate to go back.Thank-you Heather.
Heather's place is an oasis of nature. From the wonderful, fully equipped outdoor kitchen, you can watch butterflies, hummingbirds, and many other birds amongst the flowered trees. In the upstairs bedroom, with its surrounding windows, you can get a panoramic view of the catheral and the hills of SMA. You also are awakened every morning by singing birds.
Heather is a wonderful host, and meeting her surely enriched our visit to SMA.
This is a lovely place to just be. The beautiful garden was in full bloom and we enjoyed bird watching from the sunny outdoor kitchen. Heather is a kind and caring hostess who made us feel very welcome. Even her two little dogs and Murphy, the cat, got into the act. It's the first time I have ever arrived anywhere to find a supply of food in the fridge and staple items in the cupboard. There are other things there, too, that are often missing - face cloths, plugs for the sinks, good pots WITH LIDS and sharp knives. The stove & fridge are exceptional and the beds are very comfortable. The private rooftop patio is a great place to lounge. The whole place gets a very thorough cleaning once a week. We liked the location, too. There are interesting neighborhoods to explore with good markets and restaurants. I hope I can return there one day. It would be like coming home.
This was a great place with a lovely garden and beautiful views of the city.
We just loved the upper bedroom filled with sunlight, seeming to float on treetops.
The kitchen is an open-air room. It is well appointed and functional.
It can be a little chilly in the morning but warms up during the day.
Heather was a great host, thoughtful and helpful, and she made sure we had everything we needed.
Our only concern was that one day a week( Thursdays), one of the neighbors played his music so loudly that we had to get out of the house. Despite this we are coming back next year. We'll just plan outside activities when this happens.
Overall this place is great value.
Heather's place is gorgeous, even better than the photos.
And Heather is a gracious hostess. The only caveat is that the open air kitchen is too cold to use much this season. Otherwise,
it is heaven.
We stayed at Heather's place for 2 months. Mid November thru mid January.
We give this apartment and the owner, Heather, great reviews.
We liked that it is in an authentic Mexican neighborhood, not the touristy part of San Miguel. We could walk up the hill and get real tacos from ladies selling them off the street. To tour the town, it was a lovely 10 minutes walk to central San Miguel.
The apartment is very comfy. We loved the outdoor kitchen. I am afraid of lizards and bugs and such, so when my husband showed me the listing, with the outdoor kitchen, I was unsure. But there was never an issue with bugs or creatures in general.
The housekeeper Cira, keeps the whole place hospital clean. The nighttime view from the upstairs bedroom is simply unbelievable. Heather's garden is stunning, even in the dead of winter. All color blooms in every direction. I have never enjoyed washing dishes as I did in her kitchen while looking out over all that beautiful nature.
Heather herself is the perfect host. I am a privacy fanatic and was worried living in someone else's house that they would be wanting to visit or peek in all the time. Heather is the perfect mix. Very friendly, insightful on all things San Miguel, but respectful of our privacy and need for quiet relaxation.
Mexico is a loud, vibrant place. So, expect to hear the neighbors play their music, hear the kids playing, the cats meowing, and sit back in this wonderful apartment and soak in the sounds of this wonderful city.
Thanks Heather for everything!
Heather was a wonderful host. The house is absolutely gorgeous and it felt like an oasis! She was great at helping me get acquainted with San Miguel, and her dogs were absolutely adorable. The energy of the place is magical, the bed is comfortable, and it's in a great location. I highly recommend staying here!
Heather's lovely apartment is exactly as pictured. Light, open, comfortable... and what an amazing yard. Filtered water throughout the apartment was a big plus for us gringos as well. Having Heather onsite to answer questions about the apartment and about San Miguel de Allende was extremely helpful. And her pets are adorable!
The neighborhood is quiet, with minimal traffic and friendly neighbors, but the apartment is a short walk to restaurants, stores, and everyone's favorite destination, El Jardin. My husband and I enjoyed a marvelous six weeks at Heather's apartment and would happily do so again.
