English Tudor with a Latin Flair
My home is located in the Concordia Neighborhood right on Ainsworth Street. It is a lovely walking neighborhood filled with older, unique homes, a couple of lovely parks, Concordia University and very friendly people. I am about 15 minutes to the Airport and close to two bus stops that can take you to downtown Portland or the Pearl within the hour.
My home is within walking distance to the Artsy, Fun, Funky, Quirky Alberta Arts District. Which is filled with many restaurants, fun bars, great dress & shoe shops, kids stores, even a pet shop, several art galleries and a few theaters. You could spend an entire day enjoying the area and you have to experience "Last Thursday" which is a combination art gallery, bar & restaurant -hopping and neighborhood street fair all rolled into one. People watching at it's BEST!!!
I'm a ten minute walk to McMenamins Kennendy School where you can have your pizza & beer while you watch a movie sitting on a comfy sofa. Or sit outside and enjoy a lovely meal under the stars. The Kennedy School has several restaurants, bars and even a wading pool.
I have a very private back yard surrounded by lots of hummingbird loving plants, where you can enjoy the lovely evenings in Portland sitting next to my outdoor fireplace and listen to good music or the soothing sound of my water fountain. I love color and lots of it so the back of my home is an extension of my use of color throughout the house. The back is a out-door party room!
Your room, if you choose to stay, is on the 2nd floor with a queen bed. Not large, (8'4" x 16') but comfy and clean and you have your own TV. The room is a lovely relaxing light blue almost turquoise called "Still Waters" and the carpet was replaced this month (6/12). I have wireless internet & cable. I have one bathroom, to be shared by all, but it is very clean & the colors are very bright & cheery. Towels, bed linen, pillows - all new and to be used by guests ONLY.
Note: I do have a noon check out time and a later than 2pm check in - but I am flexible so if you have a special need - PLEASE just let me know. We can discuss it and I'm sure we can come up with a great solution. I am willing to work with you so we can all be happy!!!
I'm sure if you choose my home - you will feel very comfortable with the accomodations and the location. Everyone that sees it - Loves It!!! I know I DO!! Stay happy and maybe we will meet someday. maggie

Maggie is such a wonderful host, as soon as we walked in the door we felt right at home. She was very accommodating to us since we came with two cats and arranged for the stay last minute. The room is lovely--a quiet space with a comfy bed and a tv. She has a great kitchen, and I really enjoyed being able to cook and even do a little baking while there! The outside courtyard is gorgeous, too! We went out every day, even though it was still pretty rainy that time of year.
Her house is on the main street of a quiet neighborhood with lots of delicious restaurants within walking distance, just a few blocks away. There's also a beautiful park close by with a dog playing area and lots of trees! The houses around the neighborhood are fantastic--lots of interesting architecture, beautiful gardening, and we even saw a few impressive tree houses on our walks!
Maggie was the best! She helped us out constantly, whether it was with directions, Portland culture or walking us through the finer details of the city's recycling system ;) She's generous, kind and full of energy, life and laughter. It was a delight to get to know her and spend a little time in her home. This was a wonderful experience, and we highly recommend her. I feel like I might just have made a lifelong friend :)
If you are visiting Portland, stay with Maggie! Her place rocks! It's in a great location, clean, quiet, stylish and super cozy. Her adorable house is a few blocks from some really great shops/restaurants/cafés and easily accommodated myself, my boyfriend and our two large furry children. Maggie is a wonderful warm and friendly host. As a long time resident, she is an invaluable resource-there to guide you through your Portland adventure should you need it. If not, you might not even know she's there!
I have stayed with Maggie several times, and the experience has been nothing short of wonderful. The home is immaculately clean, nicely decorated, quiet and very comfortable. Maggie is always so kind and welcoming. This is as good as it gets in NE Portland!
Maggie is nothing short of AMAZING!
I had an extraordinary stay at her lovely, cozy, welcoming home.
I will continue to stay with Maggie as often as she will have me when I visit Portland.
The location is incredible to the airport and restaurants and some of the best places in the city.
Highly recommended to anybody who wants to engage with a warm and friendly person with a generous spirit!
(And her party patio is the perfect place for hanging out by the fire and singing with a guitar and a friend or two.)
Really beautiful house, in a great location with a WONDERFUL woman. Maggie is fantastic, such a generous host, extremely warm, funny and entertaining. The home has a great yard and it's so easy to feel right at home here. I could go on and on about how lovely the home, neighborhood and host all are, but I think you get the point. Highly recommend.
Maggie was a fabulous host! Welcoming, kind, easy-to-talk-to, and extremely generous. And she makes a delicious smoothie, too. Her house was vibrant with life and color. It was a spectacular home away from home during my trip. More like staying with a close friend, rather than someone I had just met. And the location couldn't be beat, just a quick walk to tons of restaurants, bars, shops, and transit options. A great choice for anyone visiting Portland.
I have nothing but good things to say about my time staying with Maggie. Maggie is kind, energetic, wonderfully warm, hospitable and fun. My friend and I stayed with her for about 4 days on a trip to Portland. Not only was her place clean, cozy and comfortable, but she was a gracious hostess, even taking us out to sight see. It was great staying with Maggie because more than just a place to crash, she really makes you feel at home. I feel like I now have a friend. You won't regret staying with her!
My sweetie and I stayed in Maggie's beautiful house for a lovely weekend in Portland. She was extremely welcoming and generous, sharing her food with us and even making us French toast one morning! It was comfortable and easy to come and go, staying was easy and enjoyable, and we had the full use of her gorgeous house and patio.
Maggie's home is in a leafy suburb, close to funky Alberta and only a short bus ride to downtown. The house itself is very homely, especially the outside area, when relaxing with a book and some wine in the sun. The room and facilities were all spot on.
Maggie is an awesome host and goes above and beyond the call of duty, so get in quick. The only reason I gave this review five stars is because it doesn't yet go to six.
Where to start? I booked to stay with Maggie because of her amazing reviews. She sounded like the kind of person I'd like to be, so I hoped some of her enthusiasm would rub off on me. That said, I had my doubts. Often, when people rave about things, when I experience them for myself, I end up disappointed. I didn't actually really believe that this woman could be as amazing as everyone was saying she was.
So, my friend and I spent almost a month with Maggie, and it turned out that I was completely wrong. Maggie MADE our entire trip. She is the most inspiring and fun person I have ever met, and her family and friends are also lovely. I really hope we'll be friends with all of them for life, and I can't wait to see them again.
Maggie's home is comfy, clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen has everything you could possibly wish to use, and the garden is perfect for relaxing and socialising.
There's no way this review can explain just how wonderful Maggie and her home are. The only way you'll understand is if you go stay with her!
