English Tudor with a Latin Flair in a great neighborhood, within walking distance to Alberta Arts District - great restaurants, bars, shops, everything you need or want!!
Lovely private back yard. Close to two bus lines & only 15 mins to airport.
My home is located in the Concordia Neighborhood right on Ainsworth Street. It is a lovely walking neighborhood filled with older, unique homes, a couple of lovely parks, Concordia University and very friendly people. I am about 15 minutes to the Airport and close to two bus stops that can take you to downtown Portland or the Pearl within the hour.
My home is within walking distance to the Artsy, Fun, Funky, Quirky Alberta Arts District. Which is filled with many restaurants, fun bars, great dress & shoe shops, kids stores, even a pet shop, several art galleries and a few theaters. You could spend an entire day enjoying the area and you have to experience "Last Thursday" which is a combination art gallery, bar & restaurant -hopping and neighborhood street fair all rolled into one. People watching at it's BEST!!!
I'm a ten minute walk to McMenamins Kennendy School where you can have your pizza & beer while you watch a movie sitting on a comfy sofa. Or sit outside and enjoy a lovely meal under the stars. The Kennedy School has several restaurants, bars and even a wading pool.
I have a very private back yard surrounded by lots of hummingbird loving plants, where you can enjoy the lovely evenings in Portland sitting next to my outdoor fireplace and listen to good music or the soothing sound of my water fountain. I love color and lots of it so the back of my home is an extension of my use of color throughout the house. The back is a out-door party room!
Your room, if you choose to stay, is on the 2nd floor with a queen bed. Not large, (8'4" x 16') but comfy and clean and you have your own TV. The room is a lovely relaxing light blue almost turquoise called "Still Waters" and the carpet was replaced this month (6/12). I have wireless internet & cable. I have one bathroom, to be shared by all, but it is very clean & the colors are very bright & cheery. Towels, bed linen, pillows - all new and to be used by guests ONLY.
Note: I do have a noon check out time and a later than 2pm check in - but I am flexible so if you have a special need - PLEASE just let me know. We can discuss it and I'm sure we can come up with a great solution. I am willing to work with you so we can all be happy!!! Sometimes I'm even available to pick you up at the airport. So let's talk...
I'm sure if you choose my home - you will feel very comfortable with the acomodations and the location. Everyone that sees it - Loves It!!! I know I DO!! Stay happy and maybe we will meet someday. maggie
No Smoking, inside my home or outside in the party area!!
Maggie made our trip to Portland worth it. She was the best host! We ran into delays at the airport and missed our check in time but Maggie was attentive and ready to help. She picked us up from the airport and even dropped us off at our car rental on our last day, both extra things she didn't have to do. We then came home to homemade cookies and a clean room. The house is beautiful and well maintained. We had the most comfortable bed ever and never wanted to leave! The neighborhood is charming and a short walk to the Alberta Arts District, which quickly became our favorite place. Maggie took time to get to know us and we really feel we made a friend in Maggie. I will stay again in a heartbeat whenever I come through town.
Maggie was incredibly hospitable and welcoming from the start. My dog and I stayed with her for a little over a week, and she made us truly feel at home. The room had plenty of space and an extra comfy bed. The outdoor space is beautifully landscaped, and we got to have a nice fire lit dinner with some of her friends. She went above all expectations as a host, offering up excellent advice and information on numerous aspects of Portland, and even caring for my dog while I was at work. I'm so happy to have met her and feel she will remain a great friend!
Maggie makes you feel super welcome and she's always excited and has so much energy whether she's telling you about the cool things to see and do or you're just having a chat. She always does what she can to go the extra mile, too. She made a wonderful breakfast for us on Sunday. Her house is wonderful and has so much charm; you can tell she puts a lot of herself into it. It's truly a "home". The guest room is cute and cozy and the bed is soooo comfortable.
Alberta Street is just a couple minutes away on foot and ended up being my favorite place in Portland, even more so than the Pearl, downtown, and Mississippi (or whatever). There's so much cool stuff and Portland-y people to watch there.
There are nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about staying with Maggie in Portland. Great location, a warm, inviting and delightfully
decorated home, a super comfy bed and a host that is so caring and
thoughtful I felt like family from the moment I walked in. It was hard
to leave, but I'll definitely be going back!
Cheryl, I really do hope you will be back and soon and have Kate call me anytime - so she can study in a quiet place!! I truly felt like we must have known each other in another life cuz we just clicked - You are a wonderful person & I wish the world was filled with more people like you!! So glad you found my little home.
My girlfriend and I could not be more happy with our stay with Maggie. She was an amazing host! From the moment we arrived in Portland, she made us feel right at home. She went well out of her way to accommodate us in every way possible. Whether it was making us coffee and breakfast in the mornings, giving us directions or recommendations on places to go, or letting us use all the amenities her house had to offer, she did it all. When we weren't out exploring the city, we could relax at her home and enjoy every moment. Maggie's home is warm, welcoming, and clean; our room was spacious enough to fit all of our luggage and other items we picked up during our stay, and the bed and linens were super comfortable. The location of her home is also a huge plus. We were never far from all of the many attractions Portland had to offer. My girlfriend and I were more than pleased with our stay with Maggie and we plan to stay with her again in the future! We highly recommend her!
Maggie is the most amazing host you could ever ask for! The whole time during my stay I felt like I was at home, she is so caring and sweet, she even made dinner several times. I feel like I have a new family member in Portland who truly cares.
- I miss you Maggie! :)
I am a very happy, healthy, positive and retired woman. I also an extremely happy Nana and I have three wonderful grand children - so YES I am in heaven!!!! I love to cook and share it with my family and friends so my "Outdoor Party Room" is used often and always a great time to be had by all!!! I love all kinds of music and play it loud and often - of course will always respect my guests and their space!! Always loved dancing but now I mostly do it in the privacy of my own home, which is just fine - it's good exercise.
I live five short blocks to the fun & funky Alberta Arts District. There are many fun places to visit in Portland & this area is one of them - for sure - anything you may want for your child, your pet(s) or YOU!! Lots of great restaurants, bars, shops, the best Ice Cream shop ever (Salt & Straw), galleries - you will love walking up & down this street & I'm sure make many stops along the way.
I absolutely love living in the Northwest but love to travel to the Southwest and do it as often as I can, at least once or twice a year. Now that I am retired one of my desires is to see more of what this beautiful country has to offer and hopefully I have many years to fulfill that dream and will definitely be using Airbnb to make my travels that much sweeter. I'm a really friendly person and just like my father & most of my family - we love to chat and smile and live life to the fullest as life is way too short to be grouchy for too long. ENJOY Today as it is a present and there isn't any guarantee we have tomorrow. So I choose to be Happy!!!
Hope you choose to share my space, have a chat, share a healthy smoothie & or coffee in the morning, share a glass of wine (or juice) and chat about beautiful Portland Oregon.
