About this listing
English Tudor with a Latin Flair in a great neighborhood, within walking distance to Alberta Arts District - great restaurants, bars, shops, everything you need or want!!
Lovely private back yard. Close to two bus lines & only 15 mins to airport.
My home is located in the Concordia Neighborhood right on Ainsworth Street. It is a lovely walking neighborhood filled with older, unique homes, a couple of lovely parks, Concordia University and very friendly people. I am about 15 minutes to the Airport and close to two bus stops that can take you to downtown Portland or the Pearl within the hour.
My home is within walking distance to the Artsy, Fun, Funky, Quirky Alberta Arts District. Which is filled with many restaurants, fun bars, great dress & shoe shops, kids stores, even a pet shop, several art galleries and a few theaters. You could spend an entire day enjoying the area and you have to experience "Last Thursday" which is a combination art gallery, bar & restaurant -hopping and neighborhood street fair all rolled into one. People watching at it's BEST!!!
I'm a ten minute walk to McMenamins Kennendy School where you can have your pizza & beer while you watch a movie sitting on a comfy sofa. Or sit outside and enjoy a lovely meal under the stars. The Kennedy School has several restaurants, bars and even a wading pool.
I have a very private back yard surrounded by lots of hummingbird loving plants, where you can enjoy the lovely evenings in Portland sitting next to my outdoor fireplace and listen to good music or the soothing sound of my water fountain. I love color and lots of it so the back of my home is an extension of my use of color throughout the house. The back is a out-door party room!
Your room, if you choose to stay, is on the 2nd floor with a queen bed. Not large, (8'4" x 16') but comfy and clean and you have your own TV. The room is a lovely relaxing light blue almost turquoise called "Still Waters" and the carpet was replaced this month (6/12). I have wireless internet & cable. I have one bathroom, to be shared by all, but it is very clean & the colors are very bright & cheery. Towels, bed linen, pillows - all new and to be used by guests ONLY.
Note: I do have a noon check out time and a later than 2pm check in - but I am flexible so if you have a special need - PLEASE just let me know. We can discuss it and I'm sure we can come up with a great solution. I am willing to work with you so we can all be happy!!! Sometimes I'm even available to pick you up at the airport. So let's talk...
I'm sure if you choose my home - you will feel very comfortable with the acomodations and the location. Everyone that sees it - Loves It!!! I know I DO!! Stay happy and maybe we will meet someday. maggie
Interaction with Guests
I'm sure from my reviews you know I am a very friendly person & one of the things I enjoy most about airbnb is getting to know my guests. So yes, I do love visiting, sharing meals, sharing wine on the deck etc.... my home is small so we almost always get to be like family.
I live in the lovely Concordia neighborhood & the homes are quite lovely. It is a great place to go for nice walks. I'm close to three parks. The closet one even has a tennis court. The prettiest one is a 3 mile round trip, which is great for exercise & it has a gorgeous fountain & beautiful roses that are in bloom June - August (most of the time).
I'm only five blocks to the Alberta Arts District - everyone that has stayed with me LOVES this fun, funky street that's filled with great restaurants, bars, shops, galleries etc. I'm also walking distance to the McMenamins Kennendy School, which is a great place to eat, drink & even see a movie..
I am only 3 blocks to the #17 bus line, which takes you downtown very quickly. There is a trip planner that you can download thru (website hidden) You can purchase a day pass for only $5 & that's the way to go. Of course we now have Uber & many of my guests have used Car2go.
No Smoking, inside my home or outside in the party area!!
The place is just as good as described and maybe better. Perfectly located within walking distance of Kennedy School and the Alberta arts district. We actually spent the most time on Alberta so being so close by was perfect. If you were worried that getting to downtown might be difficult you shouldn't be, it is just one bus ride away and the public transit system in Portland is great. Maggie was a great host who made the experience even better with great tips. I plan on visitin Portland again in the future and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
Maggie made my daughter and I feel very welcome. The house was exactly as was described, as was the neighborhood.
Maggie gave us a couple of rides to locations close by that really helped us out, and she made us a dinner our last night that was supposed to be a shared experience - but my housing search brought us in late - so we supplied dessert! It was nice to be able to get to know her better - as I hope we will be city-mates in the not-too-distant future!
Maggie was an amazing host! She welcomed me with wine and cheese, but sadly I was in a hurry and had to take a rain check on it. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the place truly is amazing. Maggie is an incredibly lively person. I would definitely stay there again.
Maggie is the best. I have stayed in many airbnb places and she was the best host yet. Her rides where very appreciated, her smoothies were filling and delicious, and her excitement was infectious. If you can, book with Maggie.
Maggie made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and made us feel super comfortable in her home. It was really nice having a place that we knew we could chill and be comfortable and that we were invited to use the space for our downtime. Her posting and description was very accurate so there were no surprises and it was walking distance to Alberta street which was so amazing and convenient! It was also very easy to take transit to downtown and there were many car2gos in the neighbourhood. Staying with Maggie was everything we were hoping for and I would definitely come back =)
my friend and I had a great stay at Maggie's place. she and her brother were the most welcoming, sweet people we met during our trip around the U.S. her place is awesome: clean, cozy and within a few minutes from Portland main landmarks, by bus. if anyone is considering a visit to Portland, there's no better place than Maggie's!
Maggie was the best host ever! She welcomed us to her lovely home; beautifully decorated and perfectly located. Maggie is warm, sincere, and free-spirited. She made us feel at ease immediately. The room was very cozy and the sheets so soft. Loved her outdoor fireplace, especially in the evenings. We enjoyed meals together and great conversation. She was also helpful with suggestions on hikes, restaurants, and facts about the state of Oregon. We would love to stay again; would recommend to anyone traveling, and hope to keep in contact with her upon our return! We truly enjoyed our stay and feel very rested from our vacation!
About the Host, Maggie
I am a very happy, healthy, positive and retired woman. I also an extremely happy Nana and I have three wonderful grand children - so YES I am in heaven!!!! I love to cook and share it with my family and friends so my "Outdoor Party Room" is used often and always a great time to be had by all!!! I love all kinds of music and play it loud and often - of course will always respect my guests and their space!! Always loved dancing but now I mostly do it in the privacy of my own home, which is just fine - it's good exercise.
I live five short blocks to the fun & funky Alberta Arts District. There are many fun places to visit in Portland & this area is one of them - for sure - anything you may want for your child, your pet(s) or YOU!! Lots of great restaurants, bars, shops, the best Ice Cream shop ever (Salt & Straw), galleries - you will love walking up & down this street & I'm sure make many stops along the way.
I absolutely love living in the Northwest but love to travel to the Southwest and do it as often as I can, at least once or twice a year. Now that I am retired one of my desires is to see more of what this beautiful country has to offer and hopefully I have many years to fulfill that dream and will definitely be using Airbnb to make my travels that much sweeter. I'm a really friendly person and just like my father & most of my family - we love to chat and smile and live life to the fullest as life is way too short to be grouchy for too long. ENJOY Today as it is a present and there isn't any guarantee we have tomorrow. So I choose to be Happy!!!
Hope you choose to share my space, have a chat, share a healthy smoothie & or coffee in the morning, share a glass of wine (or juice) and chat about beautiful Portland Oregon.
