The neighborhood is considered one of the hot neighborhoods in NYC right now. Galleries and cafes, gorgeous parks, unbeatable views, outdoor movies, excellent restaurants such as Vinegar Hill House, River Cafe, Gran Electrica and famous Grimaldi's Pizza...not to mention Jacques Torres Chocolatier and Almondine (with the best almond croissants this side of Paris)-- all within one stop of the island of Manhattan. A true respite from the busy city, but with a cool, historic cobble-stoned street vibe itself.
Local theater and music include St. Anne's Warehouse, BAM, River Barge Chamber Music, Galapagos Art Space, PowerHouse Books and ReBar. DUMBO is also home to many startups and design firms, including ETSY. There seems to always be something to stop in and check out.

The most gorgeous views in New York City. And a true NY neighborhood: one with depth and history as well as innovation and charm. NOT full of chain stores!!
Interaction with Guests
We are happy to answer all of your questions and provide you with plenty of information regarding the neighborhood and our home.
Please note that dogs are considered, but no cats due to family allergies.
We are in the middle of one of NY's hottest neighborhoods. World class architecture, food, art meets cobble stone streets, tree-lined parks and stunning views of the bridges and lower Manhattan. DUMBO is one of the reasons why Brooklyn is so chin right now.
One of the most charming things about this visually stunning corner in the city is that we are not filled with chain stores. No Victoria's Secret or Barnes+Noble. Like NY neighborhoods used to be -- we have our own bookstores, toy stores, high end fashion, vintage fashion…our own galleries, cafes, chocolatier, coffee-roaster, french bakery and restaurants. The restaurants are very highly rated. Its still a true NY neighborhood compared to Manhattan -- which has unfortunately been taken over by large chains and department stores. The only chain we have is a Starbucks.
We are five minutes from 2 major subway lines, the A/C train and then the F train. We are one stop from Manhattan. We are also a very short stroll from the river taxis and river ferries that run along the East River. And of course there are plenty of cabs available through the day and evening in DUMBO.

Karen was so accommodating and helpful! She went our her way to make sure we had keys before arrival by stopping by my office to deliver them. She left detailed instructions about her home and its accommodations, which was perfect for 2 new employees who were visiting for orientation. She also checked in twice to make sure our stay was going well.
My friends and I had a wonderful time staying in Karen's apartment. The location was perfect for us. Short walk to the subway which made getting into Manhattan super easy. DUMBO is a great neighborhood with a really nice vibe and excellent views of the city, It had everything we needed within walking distance.
The apartment was everything that we needed. The 4 of us felt quite at home and had plenty of space.
Karen was so easy to communicate with, both in the lead up to our stay and also during our stay. She was very helpful and her recommendations were great.
We hope to come back one day!
Location was great, right under the Brooklyn bridge. Apartment was exactly as described and very comfortable. Karen was a great host and extremely helpful with arranging for key pick-up and responding to our queries! Would strongly recommend this listing.
We loved our stay. The apartment was charming and provided ample room for two couples and a toddler. And you cannot pick a better spot in Dumbo.
Karen was a responsive and accommodating host.
Thanks again, Nate
Everything in Karen's place is just so wonderful. The location is unbeatable - so close to the park (with beautiful view of Manhattan and the two bridges). We enjoyed our stay for two nights. We parked our car in the garage (directly across the apartment) only once. On Sunday night, we were lucky to find street parking space (free until 9 am next morning). Beware that there are many stairs to the third floor. My elderly siblings came from overseas with heavy luggage, so they managed to bring just the needed items into the apartment (keeping the main luggage in the car). Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you, Karen!
Fantastic location close to three subway lines, one of which goes direct to JFK. Brilliant being able to walk to Manhattan over the Brooklyn Bridge....what a great way to approach the city! And one of our best experiences was walking through Brooklyn Heights above the Expressway and back along the Brooklyn Bridge Park Greenway after Smorgasbord on the Sunday. Good choice of cafes and restaurants on the doorstep of the apptmnt, and Karen was very helpful in leaving advice re her favourite ones. Right opposite superb bookshop called Powerhouse Arena. Wish we could have stayed longer. One week didn't scratch the surface!
Work in film and for a start-up. Love to cook, love to travel and spend time seeing art and discovering new neighborhoods. Our family also loves to hike and spend time on the water.
