Our cozy cottage (The Hermitage) overlooks a spectacular one-hundred-eighty degree view. Luxury linens, a delicious queen bed, and a unique eco-centric detached bathhouse enhance this rustic setting in the Applegate Valley. Relax, bird-watch, or wander our private trails. Enjoy first-class wineries, lavender farms, the river, or abundant trails minutes away. We invite you to renew your spirit under the stars or nestled in comfy chairs under the Oaks and along the trails on our twenty acres.

The space
The Hermitage is an adults only environment (so you can leave the kiddos at home, really let go, and completely relax!!).

You’ll love our quirky and cute detached bathhouse—a loo with a view! Our water-less composting toilet is eco-centric, odor-free, and easy to use. You'll enjoy a hot shower while gazing over the fields and into the mountains. While the only eyes to see you are those of the meandering wildlife, the choice to close the curtain for comfortable privacy or celebrate the full-monty, is yours. (See comments about winter in “Other Things to Note” below.)

While we love pets, some guests are allergic to fur so we ask you to keep them home. We ask you to remain fragrance-free during your stay to respect our guests with sensitivities; please leave fragrance-laden or perfumed products at home. We’ll provide organic, fragrance-free options.

The kitchen area is stocked with stainless cookware and a two burner stove-top along with Fiestaware dishes, stainless steel eating utensils, mugs, water or wine glasses, chopping knives, olive oil and spices. Locally-made breakfast goodies or pastries await you.

You'll also find two comfortable chairs and a writing/creating desk with ample supplies for coloring or collage-making. Tucked away are two folding tables to use as desired.

Outdoors you’ll find large wicker chairs, a table, and brass fire pit.

Our antique claw-foot bathtub is tucked into the great outdoors behind the bathhouse. With personal privacy handled, take a hot soak under the stars, while watching the sun set over the mountains, or with a cuppa tea or a full bodied red wine at your side.

There are a plethora of fantastic local wines to choose from! In summer fill the tub with cold water for a refreshing dip with a glass of chilled Chardonnay or Viognier at your fingertips. Ahhhhh....

We love our neighbors, and they love to support our guests. Since everyone surrounding us treasures the peace and beauty of our hillside views, you will be well supported on your sojourn with us.

Just up the hill our friendly neighbors, at 'The Hacienda' tend to eight goats and fifteen chickens. If you want to visit the chickens, purchase fresh eggs, or join a daily goat-hike (for a small fee) just let us know. We'll be happy to make arrangements for you!

During your stay

We'll greet you upon arrival and guide you to tuck your car in the parking area, then help transport your luggage to The Hermitage. We prefer to offer a brief orientation, then leave you to your privacy. We keep it simple so you can get on with settling in! Since we live in the big house up the hill, we're here to support you as needed.

If you'd like us to prepare a welcome basket of locally sourced wine, cheese and bread, just let us know; we are happy to provide this for you. Also, if you would like to schedule a locally catered dinner (farm to table during the growing season) let us know. We're happy to arrange this as well.

We are also available to offer guidance on Applegate Valley activities if you like.
