Welcome to our Winnipeg Treehouse Bed & Bath By The Beach listing! We are delighted to host visitors from around the world by offering our large MASTER BEDROOM as a houseshare, and when you glimpse some of our photos, you'll know why we call our place a Treehouse!

The room we have available is a PRIVATE room in a two-bed, two-bath custom home located on a very quiet little tree-lined street in the Bluff Heights Historic District of Long Beach, just a few blocks from the beach.

This master bedroom also has its own PRIVATE MASTER BATHROOM (with oversized tub), and the room can easily accommodate TWO people in the queen sized bed (the mattress is a firm one). Also included are a very large closet space with mirror doors, a large desk (not pictured), a chest of drawers, and two night stands.

Rates are SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME based on SEASON and DEMAND, so if you see a rate you like, our recommendation is to BOOK IT before it changes! Rates include ALL utilities, parking (which is hard to come by in beach cities!), laundry room access (washer, dryer, drip dry racks, and large folding area), linens and towels, WiFi, furnishings, and whatever else is noted in the "Amenities” tab. So if the current rate does not work for you, please DO NOT ask for a discount…instead, please check the listing regularly for any rate reductions.

We have a MODERATE CANCELLATION POLICY, however, this CHANGES to a LONG TERM CANCELLATION POLICY for stays of 28 or more days (whether you INITIALLY booked 28 or more days, or you ALTER your reservation to add more days that equals 28+ during your stay)...for information about how the Cancellation Policy differs for short versus long term stays, click on the "Cancellation" tab to the right.

If you are interested in an extended stay of 28+ days, please be sure to read the FAQ section of the airbnb website for more info on how longer-term bookings are handled.

For our international visitors from SLOVENIA and any German-speaking countries, we speak fluent Slovene (grew up in Slovenia), as well as a little German, and our next door neighbors are from Holland, so our Dutch visitors also have someone from their homeland to chat with (they also speak German)!

If your budget is too tight for this room, or if you have ADDITIONAL PEOPLE in your group, be sure to also check out our affordable Treehouse Couch By the Beach listing (under "My Other Listings" to the right or in my Profile). Also be advised that sometimes the Couch IS booked, so the living room may not be fully accessible during these times.

The Bluff Heights Historic District (part of the Belmont Heights area of Long Beach) is very eclectic and charming, characterized by historic Craftsman bungalows, an artsy crowd, and a very friendly neighborhood. Our home is a BACK HOUSE on the second floor over garage space, with a deck overlooking a charming garden and surrounded by lots of beautiful trees, where guests can enjoy some rest and relaxation. Living room and kitchen are also available, and grocery stores are within walking distance. We have TWO CATS and ONE DOG, so pet-friendly visitors ONLY please!

Within close proximity are the beach (Long Beach within walking distance, Seal Beach within biking/Passport shuttle distance); 2nd Street shops and restaurants in Belmont Shores; unique boutiques, museums, and coffeehouses on Broadway Ave.; the Long Beach Marinas for sailing, boating, and other water sports; and all the nightlife, arts, and culture of downtown Long Beach, all within walking or biking distance. Attractions in downtown Long Beach include the Queen Mary, Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach Aquarium, and activities at the Pike. There are also departure points for Carnival Cruises to Ensenada and Catalina Cruises to the nearby island of Catalina, perfect for a day-trip!

Long Beach Transit stops are within a few blocks walking distance, which can take you to all the sights and activities around town, so no need to even have a car (daily, weekly & monthly transit passes are available)! The Long Beach Transit Station in downtown Long Beach is a few miles away with additional public transportation connections to downtown Los Angeles and Los Angeles International Airport.

  • Great location. Safe neighborhood. Lara is friendly and helpful. Thank you for opening your home to us, Lara.

  • Had a great stay with Lara and her puppy/cat. Very nice host!

  • Last minute change of plans, but Lara was very helpful and friendly!

  • The Tree House is the ideal location in Long beach, you are close to everything, the metro transport system is excellent, I stayed for 5 weeks while doing flight training at Long Beach airport, the neighborhood is peaceful, and the tree house is very close to supermarket, cafe, restaurant. Lara the host is a very friendly relaxed Californian girl, I highly recommend Lara's tree house.

  • Lara was a great host! Her place was bright and clean and spacious! The backyard and neighborhood were both filled with beautiful plants and flowers. We couldn't have enjoyed it more.

    April 2012
  • Lara was a good host. She was welcoming and accommodating. She even brought us a bar of soap when we didn't have one. I would say, however, that we arrived and the house was not very clean nor was the room (esp. bathroom) as clean as it could be. Small details could be added like tissue and a glass or cup in the bathroom, soap in the shower and by maybe purchasing new bathroom towels. The bath towels were literally threadbare. The location was perfect for what we needed. Overall the experience was good, but could be great if a little attention to detail was paid.

  • My second stay with Lara and it was a pleasure as expected. Lara is very helpful. Hope you bounded with your new dog Lara.

    November 2011
  • Lara was great, very friendly and helpful. The room is nice and big and has it's own bathroom which is great. We would happily stay there again!

  • Great host, great location.

    October 2011
  • WOW! I cannot say enough good things about Lara and her space! Let me start by saying that I really really dislike traveling to LA. I have had some reasonable stays there (nothing terrible happened), but have NEVER gotten what people like about CA, other than the weather.

Lara is a super lady and awesome host! She has a wonderful space, that is homey and comfortable! I loved her animals; I am an animal person, and miss my furry family TERRIBLY when I travel! So, it is very nice to have familial critters with personalities around!

Additionally, the location is fantastic! It is a lovely little eclectic neighborhood, and you are three blocks from Long Beach. Nice distance from downtown Long Beach; great public transportation. There is a beautiful courtyard - the list goes on and on.

But all that pales in comparison to the company and the energy. There were two other gals who came in while I was there - Jennifer and Erika (who is from Japan). So, while only Erika and Lara previously new each other, we all became gal pals! It was a Wonder Woman weekend! Everyone in the group is "up to something" in their lives, and it was so wonderful to share our perspectives and learn from one another!

I didn't just have a great stay - I made new friends! I truly hope they decide to come visit me here in TX!

About
Welcome to my "By The Beach" airbnb listings...the TREEHOUSE BED & BATH, TREEHOUSE FUTON/LOFT, TREEHOUSE COMFY COUCH, CRAFTSMAN BUNGALOW, BUNGALOW AIRBEDROOM, BUNGALOW AIRGUESTBED, and BUNGALOW COMFY COUCH! These are SEVEN SEPARATE listings, and oftentimes I have more than one booked at the same time, so you MAY meet other airbnb travelers while staying here. The TREEHOUSE BED & BATH is actually my bedroom...it was my first airbnb listing and was quite popular as it is very spacious and has an adjoining private master bathroom. I migrated to my guestroom whenever it was booked. However, since converting my guestroom into a listing, it is not typically available anymore unless I am out of town, in which case I sometimes sublet it thru airbnb...but be sure to check the calendar in this listing for availability, as I sometimes do still open it up and migrate to another room on the grounds if the demand is high for a private room with a private bathroom. The TREEHOUSE FUTON/LOFT is my guestroom, and is now my preferred room to host those who want to book a private room. It shares a bathroom with one other person who may book the TREEHOUSE COMFY COUCH, which is my living room couch, altho a guest in the Futon/Loft will have the bathroom to themselves if the Couch is not booked. The Comfy Couch is a "shared room" during the day as it is a common living room area, but I have room divider partitions to block it off to be quite private at night, so it is very popular for travelers on a budget! The CRAFTSMAN BUNGALOW is a SEPARATE 2-bedroom, 1-bath house available on the same grounds (across my courtyard) for those seeking the privacy of booking an ENTIRE HOUSE. When the ENTIRE HOUSE is NOT booked, the PRIVATE BEDROOMS (each bedroom door has a lock for added privacy/security) are also available for booking separately as a HOUSESHARE of common bathroom, kitchen, and living room areas...check out the details in the BUNGALOW AIRBEDROOM and BUNGALOW AIRGUESTBED listings. There is also a BUNGALOW COMFY COUCH listing, which is located in the living room of the Beach Bungalow...however, the Couch will NEVER be booked when there are guests booked in either of the bedrooms, as it is only available for short-term stays of one night and only when the bedrooms are not booked. When the entire Craftsman Bungalow is NOT booked, I may also come and go through this house, as I sometimes use the Bungalow as an extended workspace during the day or evening. So anyone booking one of the private Bungalow rooms may POTENTIALLY be sharing the house with me as well as one or two other guests. You can find some of my listings by scrolling down to the BOTTOM LEFT of this profile...to see them all, click on "View All Listings" found at the bottom of the three that are shown. I have a pup named SPOTI (a Pointer Mix) and two kitties named OREO and FELIX, who will also welcome you warmly to our TREEHOUSE LISTINGS provided you are a "dog and/or cat" person...although it may take Spoti a while, as she is very much a "one-person dog" and she is initially very wary of newcomers. So she may keep her distance at first and though she is normally quiet while you are at home, she MAY BARK when you arrive through the door until she "gets used to you." This is especially the case if you have "new" guests visit you during your stay that she hasn't had a chance to get to know, as she is barking as a "warning" bark to alert me that someone she doesn't know is in the house (alas, if you're not a dog/cat person, our Treehouse may not be the best choice for you)! My motto? I do what I love and love what I do. I'm an eclectic Entrepreneur and a bit of a Renaissance Woman, as I'm passionate about and into so many different things that there isn't enough space here to list them all! But here's a small sampling... Sailing, Horseback Riding, Scuba Diving, Yoga, Surfing, Sailboat Racing, Snorkeling, Ballroom Dance, Tap Dance, Running, Rollerblading, Windsurfing, Biking, Gardening, Tennis, Hiking, Kayaking, Skiing, Live Music, Comedy Clubs, Travel, Investing, Blogging, Museums, and of course Movies! I've travelled extensively through Europe, as I partly grew up in Slovenia (I speak fluent Slovenian and a bit of German), and have family in Slovenia, Switzerland, and Italy, so I truly love having guests from my European "homeland" in addition to guests from other parts of the world as well! My favorite travel style is to check out indie spots that are off-the-beaten path rather than stay at resorts (although an all-inclusive resort visit from time to time also has its appeal!), and my favorite travel destinations so far are the Caribbean and Europe...although I have a growing desire to check out Africa and Australia in future travels, especially after I've hosted guests from these far-away spots who have described how cool these travel destinations are! I'm self-employed...I have a Dog Obedience business that takes me into the field often, as well as an internet-based business which often finds me working at home in my home office. I've also worked as a Sailing Instructor in the past, and am looking to pick it up again sometime soon! My style of hosting is that I'll help you with finding cool spots to check out in Long Beach/Los Angeles, and will even join you at times if you'd like and my schedule permits. And I've been known to invite guests to cool local activities as well! I also enjoy just hanging out at home to chat... ...but I also do work quite a bit at home (self-employment is kind of a 24/7 gig!), therefore I prefer guests who are relatively SELF-SUFFICIENT, and are cognizant and respectful that even though I may be at home, I may NOT always be immediately "available" as my home is also my "workplace" and sometimes I need to shut my "work door" to complete deadline-driven projects. I'm also a bit introverted and enjoy my "space" and solitude, so please don't take it personally if I shut my door for some privacy and "down time" periodically. Because of these odd work hours/locations, I need my guests to provide a 2-HOUR TIMEFRAME of their arrival time for CHECK-IN and to do their best to keep it, since my work schedule has me all over the map (click on the "HOUSE RULES" tab in my listings for more info on what to expect as a guest at the Treehouse or Bungalow!). So, that's a bit about me...looking forward to checking out your profile to learn about you (remember, the more "complete" your profile is, the higher the chance your reservation request will be accepted), and to possibly host your stay at one of our listings sometime soon! Cheers, and see you at the Treehouse or Bungalow!
