We honor our American Indian heritage by respectfully requesting that no alcohol be brought into our home.
We stayed at Sherri's for over a month this summer. Since we were five, we found it very difficult to store our belongings due to the fact that most the drawers and wardrobe were already filled with clothes etc. The neighbourhood is really quiet and Peter (next door neighbour) did his best to help us whenever we needed a hand. The bus stop was just a ten minutes walk from the house, which we found very useful.
Unluckily coping with the alarm system wasn't that easy, mostly because of the complex nature of the alarm itself.
The backyard is particularly nice and peaceful, with an useful table you can use to eat outside when it's sunny.
Anyway our trip has been positive. Since we live in a big house, we were not used to such tiny rooms; on the other hand, others may find it more functional.
Luigi and his group of five, and for several days, six, was quite difficult and unpleasant. The "complex" alarm system consisted of holding a fob to the panel, exiting the house and locking the door behind them. They somehow managed to set off the alarm no less than a half-dozen times, including pressing the panic alarm (I have absolutely no idea why anyone would do this) which then had two police officers showing up at our door, the first time this has EVER happened in the 11 years since our home was built. The statement about the wardrobes being full is absolutely untrue, as I completely emptied out the wardrobes in the bedrooms before leaving. Yes, there are clothes in the closet, as this is our home, not a hotel. Also, the "tiny" rooms that he referred to (our house is 1450 sq. ft.) are large enough to comfortably hold a CA King bed plus additional furniture and when they first arrived, they had nothing but praise for the house and how beautiful it was. However, even after all of this, I was absolutely infuriated to see pictures (taken by our cleaner) of how the house was left by them. It was absolutely FILTHY, a complete mess and many personal items had been moved/re-arranged wherever they felt like putting them. Our kitchen had all of the dishes, items from the shelves, etc. completely moved around, bedrooms had rugs moved, items that were on the wall were found in other another room (off the wall)...it was completely unacceptable the way they left our HOME. This is the kind of experience that has almost completely put me off from ever renting out our home ever again.
We stayed at Sherri's house at Girton from Jun 25th till July 2nd 2014. Right from the time of booking, Sherri was very prompt in her communication and hence when we arrived, all arrangements were as we had been told. Peter, her neighbour, is a very open and warm person, not just in handing over the keys when we arrived, but also during our entire stay when we would bump into him while going out or coming back to the house. The house itself is well located from Cambridge.....a short drive of 10 mins takes you to the city centre. The surrounding is clean and quiet.
