"Le Campane" is located a few meters from the beautiful Piazza del Campo, famous worldwide for the Palio. It is a great place to visit by walk the whole town and to be a protagonist "in the front row" during the suggestive and famous all over the world "Palio".
The Palio is twice a year: on July 2 and August 16. During the Palio period, we ask a minimum stay of three nights.
In a historic building, the "guest house" apartment is at the first floor, accessible with a small flight of stairs.
IMPORTANT: we just made the renovation of the apartment and in particular of this room and we made a private bathroom inside the room.
The triple room is furnished in Tuscan style, with double glazed window, fan and free internet wi-fi. The bathroom is private, inside the room, with shower.
The environment is quiet and extremely comfortable. In the area there are several restaurants and shops.
We don't serve breakfast.
The price does not include the city tax, payable at check-in, of 2.50 € per person per night (during high season, then it becomes 1,50€).
The house is easily accessible by public transport, and it is well connected to the railway and bus station.
You will stay in the heart of Siena!
This is an affitacamere, not someone's home. When we were there, the rest of the place was empty. The room was a good size and only one floor above street level. The location is good, right near the piazza del campo. The shower needs to be fixed before I would recommend this place.
The room was spacious, impeccably decorated and in a beautiful building in the centre of Siena. A perfect location. The host helpfully booked us a cab as we were stranded and lost at the train station.
Very central, right in the middle of the best part of Siena.
Getting there from the train station can be painful/confusing, but once there the spot was ideal.
The building is quite old, check-in took quite a while. We met someone outside the antique shop near the building, waited 5 min and were escorted there. Once there we had to wait thirty minutes to be given the keys and allowed into our room.
The room is fine, fairly small, and the windows are very old so expect some noise from the street. Bathroom is shared with 4 or 5 other rooms, and was not particularly clean. The bed was seriously uncomfortable, flat and lumpy.
About the check in: I give the possibility to arrive and check in the morning (from ten am), so guests arriving early can leave their luggages in the house and take the key. But of course if the room is occupied the previous night it is very likely that the room is not ready in the morning and then you have to wait a little.
About the shared bathroom: in the apartment there are in total three double rooms and two single rooms and two bathrooms. So when the apartment is full, at maximum one bathroom is shared between two double beds (four persons) and the other is shared between one double and two single (4 persons). The first night Tom was here there was only another guest in the apt (one single) so they had their own bathroom. The second night they shared the bathroom only with another double room. I don't know why he wrote 4 o 5 rooms... it is not possible.
Very nice place, in the center of the town, with high ceilings and a big kitchen where we regularly met the other guests, very nice people.
I highly recommand it.
Laura's place couldn't be better located! Right in the heart of the city, but still quiet' and has everything you need...would stay there again without hesitation.
Laura was a fantastic hostess and the accommodation was very Italian. A genuinely authentic, genuinely enjoyable place. Thanks Laura!
This is a great place to stay in the heart of Siena, very conveniently located for seeing the city and popping back whenever you need to.
You are very much left to your own devices here though Laura is good at replying to text messages if you ever have a question!
As other reviewers have mentioned, we also struggled with the checkin process. To be fair, we were 30 mins later than the estimated arrival time we had told Laura (we got a bit lost on the walk from the bus station down to Siena). So by the time we got there, the person who does checkins had left. To avoid problems, I would suggest arriving in the morning.
The rooms themselves are fine, there are 3-4 separate bedrooms in the apartment complex with a small kitchen and I think 2 shared bathrooms. It's definitely in a great location in town.
The location of the flat is perfect. We parked our car in Strada Massetana (it was for free) and took the bus (number 54) to the center. The flat was clean and tidy. The perfect place to visit Siena.
