Be in the thick of San Francisco’s uber-lively downtown hub for shopping, dining and nightlife - HAYES VALLEY. This private studio with full eat-in kitchen and full bath has all the comforts of home in an idyllic location literally steps from the heart of Hayes Street and Patricia’s Green.
ABOUT THE APARTMENT
The kitchen is older and is filled with great Sunlight all day. It has a gas range stove top, toaster oven, and all the cooking supplies one would need. It is complimented with a 50’s kitchen set that keeps the mid-century retro vibe.
The bathroom is a small but sufficient size loo with plenty of fresh towels and great water pressure..
The bedroom has a comfortable full size bed (with a thick tempurpedic top) and plentry of pillows. A fun beach/Miami style couch that I absolutely love really makes the whole apartment feel homey and comfortable. It is equipped with an newer TV and Roku - Roku instantly delivers over 150,000 movies and shows from Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, HBO GO etc.
ABOUT HAYES VALLEY NEIGHBORHOOD
My apartment is located one blocks from the best restaurants;
Absinthe, Jardiniere, Zuni, Bar Jules, The Grove Cafe, Suppenkuche, Blue Bottle Coffee, Ritual Coffee, The Boxing Room, Patxis, La Boulange, etc.
Hayes Valley is the center for a new phenomenon known as "food cart". Read more here (website hidden)
Some of the best drinking places are a minutes walk from my apartment;
Suppenkuche Biergarten, The Smugglers Cove, Place Pigalle, Hotel Biron, Sugar Lounge and my personal favorite Marlena's.
The San Francisco Opera House, City Hall and Asian Art Museum are also two blocks from my front door and give you a great feeling of The City.
Public transportation to downtown tourist and business center is easy and takes about 10 minutes total. It starts with a 5 minute walk to either the Van Ness stop or the Civic Center stop and then a minutes Inbound ride to the next stop - Powell St.
Or, the Outbound direction at either stop will take you to The Castro area or take it further to head to West Portal or even Ocean Beach.
Free street parking is pretty easy to find on my street. The is standard SF parking regulations apply - 2 hour parking, Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm. This means that you can park for free, all the time, as long as you move your vehicle every two hours between the hours of 8am-6pm to a new parking spot. There are also three parking lots around the corner from my apartment that offer a daily rate of $10, no in's-and-out's.
I hope that you enjoy my apartment!
I give strong preference to requests from people who have information in their profiles. While I'm open to all different kinds of people, I'd prefer not to invite you into my home without knowing something about you. Thank you for your consideration.
Please no smoking in the building/unit and please Leave the apartment the way you found it. Please clean up after yourself. No need to wash sheets, towels and/or kitchen linens - I will do it all when I come back. Our landlord states "No Roof Access". Other than that, please enjoy.
As is the case when I stay at most AirBnB's, the experience is so flawless that I end up wanting to move to the city I am visiting. Ben's place was perfect for what I needed -- I spent very little time there, but it was in a great area and served me well for my walk to work. Hope to be back someday (unless, of course, I move to the city and find my own place).
I have thought a lot about how I would review this listing, not because I didn't enjoy my time here... but I feel like the previous reviews weren't as clear as they needed to be... so here is my little run down:
check in: was fast and awesome! Though I never met Ben, he was clear and getting into the space was a breeze. Though walking down the long hallway and opening up the door at the end of it to get the keys was a little creepy.
check out: equally easy! actually... even easier! I just tidied up, left the keys, and hit the road!
my stay: my first night was rough. This apartment smells very musty and needs a little bit of an update, and I wasn't expecting it to be like that. There were some simple things that had me a bit bugged out, particularly stains on the table cloth and couch. However, as I stayed throughout the week, the space definitely grew on me and I found myself feeling super comfortable and right at home... even getting over the smell and worn furniture.
things to know:
-there is construction happening right behind this unit, so bring ear plugs
-there is not much space for storage, so if you are needing to unload a truckload of luggage it will be tight
-if you are particular with the type of pillow you sleep with, bring your own
-the area of this apartment is incredible! seriously... INCREDIBLE!
I recommend this apartment to those that are staying from 3-7 days, traveling on a budget, are looking for a fun/walkable neighborhood, and a 'local' experience, and aren't afraid of the 'lived in' Airbnb vibe.
Great studio. Perfect location and very easy parking nearby. I used the garage and it was only $10. Totally worth it. It was a little loud in the morning due to construction nearby, but I was there for work so the morning noise wasn't too much of an issue. Overall it was great!
Ben is great! This was my first experience with Airbnb and he made it super easy. The location is fun but you need to be aware of the parking signs. Highly recommended!
