About this listing
Close to "Downtown Evergreen" and Evergreen Lake. Far enough from the town center to be private and quiet. The culture of Denver is a short commute and the Rocky Mountains, ski areas and beautiful landscapes are also nice day trips. Wildlife!
Charming log house in the "Downtown" Evergreen area. Although there is a minimum 30 day stay required check the calendar and contact the owner for other options.
This one bedroom log house is recently remodeled on the inside. Since it has two sleeping lofts as well as a bedroom on the main floor, I am counting it as a 2 bedroom. There is a queen sized bed in the main bedroom with a comfy new memory foam mattress and a queen sized mattress in the larger loft and a single mattress in the smaller loft great for people nimble enough to climb the unique Anasazi ladder or closet ladder and crawl into a cozy bed with great views out the windows.
The open great room with lots of windows is open to the lofts and has a breakfast bar separating the kitchen from the living room. There is a TV and DVD player, hi speed WiFi and phone for local calls included.
This is my residence and I am staying in the basement of the same house while renting the upstairs. I am quiet and respectful of my guests privacy and have left plenty of room in the closets and dressers for your clothes. There is a shared parking area and stairway but separate entrances to the house and basement.
French doors open to the large porch with views of the mountains, forest and wildlife. The porch has large windows for lots of sunshine for warmth in the colder seasons and ventilation for the warmer months and is supplied with chairs and table for relaxing and a telescope for viewing Mt Evans and other areas of Evergreen.
The well stocked kitchen is separated from the living room by a breakfast bar. Pots and pans, dishes and linens are all included but there is no dishwasher or laundry facilities. For extended visits clean linens will be supplied but no room service is included.
The slightly undersized bathroom has a full sized bathtub with a massage shower head.
Enjoy the outdoor sitting area with a unique fire pit (when there is not a fire ban), a BBQ, a view of Mount Evans or just relaxing in the mountain sun.
Pets must be pre approved. Only pets that do not bark, chew, scratch doors or mess in the house will be considered.
It is a 1/2 mile walk to the center of the action in Downtown Evergreen! Check out the Little Bear Saloon where many local and well known bands play. There are many shops, restaurants, galleries, a winery and outdoor activities year round.
Also walk to beautiful Evergreen Lake where they host weddings and events at the Evergreen Lake House. Bus to downtown Denver in 1 hour or drive yourself in 40 minutes. Bring your bike or borrow one of the house mountain bikes to explore downtown, the lake and the surrounding mountain parks. There are some great hiking or mountain bike trails right out the door. Rent a boat at the lake in summer or ice skates in the winter.
Red Rocks Amphitheater is a short 12 mile drive down a beautiful canyon along Bear Creek. Echo Mountain, our local ski area is small but a great place to introduce yourself to Colorado skiing. An easy day drive to other ski areas -- Loveland, A-Basin, Keystone, Winter Park, Copper Mtn, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, Ski Cooper.
Idaho Hot Springs is only 20 minutes away if you enjoy soaking or swimming in wonderful warm water. Evergreen has two recreation centers that are wonderful. One is quite new, the other was recently remodeled.
Guests have access to the small kitchen with a 4 burner cooktop, toaster oven, microwave oven and NuWave oven and all the utensils needed. The large porch with huge windows allows great relaxing and enjoying the wildlife and woods outside.
Interaction with Guests
Linda is not home much but accessible for questions and problems. She is quiet and loves having people around.
The close proximity to "Downtown Evergreen" and Evergreen Lake. Far enough from the town center to be private and quiet yet close enough to walk to our charming little town, restaurants and some fun bars. Try the Little Bear or Cactus Jack's for some music and bar food. It's a real kick!
We have a Call N Ride shuttle that can get you around Evergreen and an Express Bus that will get you to Downtown Denver in about 45 minutes. Or you can drive downtown in around 37 minutes.
Other Things to Note
I do not charge extra for kids. They love the lofts. It is best if kids are 5 or over to sleep or play in the lofts.
No Smoking or illegal drugs! There is a queen bed in the larger loft and two twin beds in the smaller loft that can sleep extra people. Two or three kids old enough to safely climb the ladders are okay. Small children must not be allowed in the lofts without parental assistance because of the danger of falling. Pillows, cases, towels and linens provided. Compost and recycle containers provided, please use them so the bears won't get into the trash. Please be conservative with water and heat.
Lin has been very welcoming and generous. She is helpful and willingly shares information about the area upon request. The cabin is bright and fun with all amenities provided.
Great cabin- clean and close to town and the lake. Linda was friendly and everything she has posted on this site is true. We walked to town and the lake almost every day. Evergreen is beautiful. The fox came to visit us a couple of times along with the deer. The glassed in back porch was wonderful in the early mornings but warm in the afternoon - but we went in August- I am sure the other months it will be fine. Very quiet and street noise is minimal. Steep stairs leading to the cabin- but we got used to them. Looking forward to returning to Evergreen.
This place is wonderful! I would highly recommend anyone traveling to the Denver area to stay here. Evergreen is such an amazing little mountain town and Linda's log house is the perfect place to get away from the city lights at the end of the night. The house is very clean, spacious, has an extremely comfortable bed with a memory foam mattress, basic toiletries were provided in the bathroom, fridge had a variety of beverages, front porch has an amazing view, wildlife is abundant (saw deer & foxes pretty much everyday), great little restaurants & coffeehouse only 5 minutes away. Evergreen Lake which is also only 5 minutes away is a beautiful spot to watch the sunrise. We had a wonderful time - it was an amazing experience. We really did not want to leave!! Again, HIGHLY recommended!
We loved the little cabin and came back a month later to stay in the larger one for a longer period of time....Wonderful "cute lil' Log House in Evergreen" This place is so comfortable and peaceful. Surrounded by beauty and wild life visits. Close enough to walk to town yet out of the main stream, so one can relax. Linda is the perfect host. She provides a fantastic place to stay with all amenities and great detailed information. She has a warm personality and very pleasant to chat with.
We had a great stay in Evergreen and found it to be in a convenient location for all sorts of excursions in central Colorado. The cabin was very clean and close to the town as well as hiking trails. We slept upstairs in the loft and were treated to sunrise wake-ups-better than alarm clocks! The host had many maps and guides to Colorado left in the cabin for us. There was also basic 'just in case' toiletries and cooking supplies, which I thought was a very nice touch.
Linda's Cabin had everything for our stay the fox was even there the first night as we arrived at dusk it was quiet and a delightful place to stay with lots of maps to help with local and even denver explorations .
Cozy space, comfortable bed (the one downstairs -- didn't sleep in the loft), very clean. One suggestion: bring a flashlight for negotiating the stairs at night. There is a motion triggered light that comes on, but only after you're already down the stairs.
Look for the fox that comes by every morning. Lots of deer too.

About the Host, Linda
I am an active, happy and healthy senior who loves the outdoors. I stayed in an Airbnb condo in Tucson a few winters ago and loved how this works. Decided to try to do temporary rentals with my guest cabin through Airbnb. I wish I had known about this when I traveled to Amsterdam and London. My favorite travel vacations include biking, hiking and/or kayaking. I have kayaked the Green River in Utah which was a favorite trip but my absolute favorite was rafting the Grand Canyon -- no Airbnb there! I am looking forward to more traveling and using Airbnb rentals in the future.
