Casa De Amistad-Lovely house share with amazing terrace and views in beautiful San Lazaro, the historic center of Arequipa. Spacious, filled with lots of air and sunlight, expansive roof-top garden terrace with amazing views, large fully furnished bedrooms with balcony.

Large bedroom with one double bed and one single with mattresses and bedding, TV, Cable, desk, nightstand and shelf unit. The house has 24-hour hot water, wireless high speed internet, and a clothes washing machine. The bright clean kitchen has a stainless steel stove, microwave, water filter, oven, and full utensils for a cook’s delight. The spacious roof-top terrace offers panoramic mountain views and is perfect for taking sun, or reading, or enjoying a meal under the shade canopy. The abundant plants and off-street location provide a beautiful, quiet, and convenient living style.

I'm originally from California, USA and my wife is from Moquegua, Peru. We're looking for nice person or couple who want a quiet and friendly place to call home. This would be a perfect opportunity for a traveler(s) or volunteer(s) looking for a comfortable, clean and historic place where you can easily walk to the Plaza de Armas and the city center.

Note: We are within 6 blocks of the Plaza de Armas and the Mercado San Camilo, the famous food market which occupies an entire block, and within 3 blocks of El Super, a large, modern grocery store. You have everything you need right here so you won't need a taxi or bus to get around.

  • This house is probably your best option in Arequipa.
Neat, well furnished, with a full access to the kitchen!!
Though we have not met Gawain who went travelling but we have been perfectly welcomed by her brother Robert!

  • If you're looking for a place with a comfortable and homey feel, this is it! We loved every minute of our stay, whether it was relaxing on the beautiful terrace and enjoying the view of Misti Volcano, or cooking lunch in the cute and perfectly equipped kitchen, this Arequipa home is as dreamy as it gets. Also, the location is great; with just a quick walk away from all of the city center, you'll be feeling like a local in no time. The bedroom was spacious, clean and has all the touches to make your experience cozy.
Also Robert, our host, was super fun and friendly and made our experience as smooth as possible. We look forward to meeting up with him in San Francisco! Muchísimo gracias por todo!

  • Very friendly reception, nice entrance, a bit hidden. Clean room, bathroom clean as well, shower a bit difficult to manage.
Terrace is a treasure, we had breakfast there, brought everything from the kitchen to the roof. Washing machine extremely helpful. Caution to everyone: the door to the kitchen is dangerous!

  • We did not meet Gawain, as he was in USA during our stay, but Robert (his brother in law) was waiting for us in the apartment, even though we arrived very early. The room was nice and clean. The mattrasses very soft for our taste, but not too soft not to sleep on it.
We had access to the roof terrace with some chairs and a "couch", and two birds for company, beautiful views to the vulcanos (Misty and a more complicated name), and a place to dry your laundry. The picture in the profile you see Misty and the furniture.

Also we could use the kitchen, which we did not that much, only to boil water in the kettle for coca tea. The kitchen was to share with the other people in the house and had equipment to cook yourself a meal etc. Also a dining room with television (we did not use) and a shared bathroom, where we had a bit trouble with the shower (or are too much used to powerfull hot water; with curly hair like mine this shower was a bit difficult to wash it).
The contact with Gawain before arrival was very good and personal. The house is in a nice and quiet alley, (email hidden)ly neighbourhood with restaurants and bars all nearby. Very central, most attractions are walking distance, as well as market, bakery and a wonderfull chocolate bar (Belgian owner, with lot of knowledge about chocolate).

  • We had an really good experience staying at Gawains place. Perfectly located a couples of block from the main plaza in the historic center, the apartment was close to everything in central Arequipa.

The apartment itself is awesome. The room we stayed in is large and comfortable with a desk and TV. The shared bathroom is huge and spotless at all times. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook and prepare meals. There is also an amazing terrace where you can relax and enjoy the sun while seeing some nice views of the city and surrounding volcanoes.

Other things included were access to the washing machine, solid wi-fi in all areas of the apartment and even storage of our bags when we went away to do a 2 day trip to the Colca Canyon. The host Robert was so friendly and helpful with any requests that we had. He went above and beyond to make sure our every need was met.

Overall a great place to stay. Really feels like a home and I would recommend this accommodation when visiting Arequipa.

  • This place is perfectly located in a total safe area, you can walk from there everywhere. Our room was big with enough space for everything, only the mattresses were a little bit old. The shared bathroom is huge and just a few steps from the room. The rooftop terrace is great and you can do your laundry for free. Robert got up early the last day to check, that we get safe in our airport-taxi.

  • Our stay in Arequipa at Gawain's home was fantastic. Although he was not in Peru at the time, we felt like we were able to communicate quickly if we needed him. His wife's brother was taking care of the home and was very friendly and helpful when we had questions. Such a beautiful home, the room was clean and it was so nice to have a kitchen to use. The location couldn't have been better, only about 5-10 minutes walk to the square, grocery store, pedestrian street with cafes, restaurants, etc. We would definitely stay here again!
