Laugardalur (10 min walk) (Hot Spring Valley) is a major centre for sports and recreation in the capital. In Laugardalur you will find the largest outdoor thermal pool in Reykjavik, Laugardalslaug, in which you can swim all year round. It is very hard to describe the experience of tip-toeing over frozen ground in your swimsuit and immersing yourself in gorgeous water that nature (and some ingenious Icelandic geothermal engineering) has thoughtfully heated to just the right temperature, but the number of returning visitors definitely suggests it’s worth trying.
Laugardalur also has free entry to our beautiful Botanical Garden, with woods, ponds and birdlife. Beneath the branches the lovely Café Flora is a hidden gem.
The Family Park and Zoo in Laugardalur is open all year. The Zoo includes most Icelandic animals, both wild and domesticated, from foxes, reindeer and seals to cattle, horses and sheep. In summer the Family Park offers many rides and play equipment for children of all ages. Outside the summer season the Family Park remains open as a play area.
At the edge of the Laugardalur valley, not far from Laugardalur Arena, is a strangely shaped, domed white building. It is known as the Reykjavik Art Museum’s Ásmundarsafn sculpture collection. This used to be the studio of Asmundur Sveinsson (phone number hidden)), a pioneer of Icelandic sculpture. In addition to his works exhibited inside the museum, a sculpture garden outside contains many of his monumental works.
Reebok Fitness & Supermarket is 5 minute walk away from the apartment.
Cleaning service only $50.

I stayed with Rosa for one month, and couldn't have asked for a better first airbnb experience. The place was cozy, equipped with everything I needed (even a french press for morning coffee!), and the bed was very comfortable. Situated between two bus stops, it was very easy to get to the city center each day by bus in 10-15 minutes. Rosa and her husband Pétur were both very, very kind in conversation and in making sure I had everything I needed for my stay. Communication was always very fast. I would definitely recommend staying at one of their properties and actually just booked another stay for a few weeks from now :) Takk fyrir!
Wonderful hosts! The place was just what we needed. Thanks for the great experience with our first Airbnb rental. :)
It was the perfect place for us! The apartment is cozy, confortable and very functionable. Rosa and her family were very nice with us. Good stay! It was a pleasent stay.
Provided an ideal base from which to explore Reykjavik.
Wonderful apartment, quiet, clean and cozy! I recommend it!
The apartment was awesome and very clean. Rosa is very nice, we had some good conversation.
Rosa and her entire family were incredibly sweet and responsive. This is a great apartment to stay in, close to the pool and city stadium.
Rosa was a wonderful host she had everything prepared for us with the minutest details. We were given the apartment at a very competitive price. She even arranged to pick us up from nearby bus stop when the bus driver abandoned us in the middle of no where.
The only negative side that we felt was that we should have given the location of the apartment on a map. (website hidden) maps do not mark the exact place given the address. we were not told the exact bus stop where we can reach the apartment, that added to the confusion when we tried to reach the place with our luggage. So bus route 14 from BSI terminal in fact does not come near the apartment as Rosa says but the closest stop is Dravegur which is 400m away.
We could not figure out Icelandic heating system, it becomes hellish hot even if we turn it on slightly. Interestingly one night we were greeted by a friendly persian cat in our bed room, we don't mind it cause I love cats, but it was our fault to leave the window open. The overall stay was very comfortable and pleasant
