Cultural heritage infuses Mid-Wilshire's museums, music venues, and multitudinous communities. Often referred to as Midtown by LA locals, Mid-Wilshire comprises dozens of neighborhood enclaves, including Koreatown, Little Ethiopia, and contemporary American malls. Walk through first-class farmers' markets, contemplate art at the LACMA, and marvel at your central location between the Hollywood stars and Downtown's soaring skyscrapers. Mid-Wilshire's name says it all—it's mostly in the middle of everything.
The neighborhood boasts the highest concentration of nightclubs and 24-hour businesses in Southern California.
The famous Wiltern Theater is in walking distance. The Art Deco palace inherits its name from its intersection at (Wil)shire and Wes(tern) Avenue. Audiences have applauded musical acts at The Wiltern since 1931.
Between Hollywood and Downtown, 1 block walk to the Vermont/Wilshire subway station (Red and Purple Lines). Easy public transport. Express busses, local busses, the subway.... taxi from the place to LA Live is $7 - $8. Other places close by: Braille Institute of America, Downtown, The Grove, Hollywood, Los Angeles City College, Universal Studios, USC. Close hospitals: Children's, Hollywood Presbyterian, Kaiser, Good Samaritan, St. Vincent.
Other Things to Note
We maybe be able to accommodate your pet, it's case by case. Message me about him or her and we'll see what we can do.
Availability changes frequently, so if we are full for your selected dates check back weekly, space may open up. And of course check our other listings, this room may be booked but others available (Airbnb lists by room, not property).
If you have stayed in a hostel before, you probably already know what to expect. You have one of four rooms. We will provide you with clean bedding and toilet paper on the first day, but after that you do your own laundry (washer and dry on site). Your toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc...) are provided by you. Sure, if you need something or lost something, we will help you out, just ask. But in general you bring your own stuff. (There are a number of markets a short walk from the room.)
The common areas (kitchen and bathrooms) are cleaned weekly, but you are expected to clean up after yourself, and to do so immediately after using the area. If any common area is messy, contact me immediately and we will take care of it, no problem. (I live next door.) We do not always check the common areas everyday, so please, if something is not right, let me know. I want to know. I will take care of it :)
You have your own private room; however, the bathrooms and kitchen are shared. There are four private rooms per unit. Thus it is necessary to respect others wishes, which means:
1) No smoking inside. Please smoke outside. There is a back patio and a front porch.
2) No parties.
3) No loud music or such.
If you have a problem with someone leaving the common areas dirty, smoking, loud noise, etc.... let us know immediately, and we will take care of it right away.
We are happy to help and advise, but basically we will leave you alone unless you ask. It is a great room for the price, and you cannot do better for access to public transport.
This place is a dump. That's a polite review. The bottom sheet had hair on it, so I can't even say it was clean. Towels were not provided. It is a good reminder that a hundred bucks will go nowhere in Los Angeles. If it's all you can afford, I'd try a different hostel. Nothing to recommend this place except that I felt safe, if not clean, once in the room. Neighborhood seemed fine too.
This stay was not expensive. I think that's all what was really positive. Maybe the other guests as well. I mean, if you're sitting outside in front of the house and the hostess is coming out with her dog without a simple "Gold morning" and two minutes later she returns without looking in your direction (and she was 2 meters from you), how would you feel?
The bathrooms were not really clean. My wife was cleaning the tube before de could use it.
Sorry, I didn't want to give negative feedback, but was recommended to do honestly.
Appartamento tenuto bene. Stanze ampie. I proprietari rispondono molto velocemente e sono disponibili. La posizione è ottima ed il quartiere è tranquillo. Abbiamo dormito in questa stanza per sei notte e ci siamo trovate molto bene. E' esattamente come si vede dalle foto. Decisamente consigliato.
The host was nice. She met us very quickly when we arrived. She asked us to check in late, at 6:00, which worked with our schedule. The apartment was full of other air bnbers and the room we were given was not the room in the picture but was similar. The air conditioner did not work but there was a fan. The bathroom was clean but there was no floor mat for the shower so the floor got very wet by someone previous.
Kelly was great and the drill was pretty simple: here are the keys, here is your room, and here are the rules; enjoy your stay. She was friendly, but there were ZERO hassles. The neighborhood (Korea Town) is pretty decent: it is near the LA Metro and about a mile from the freeway. Having access to a parking lot is a plus as well.
Nice host, nice place, good pricing! Good for busy days in LA but not to spent a long time at home.
Kelly was there when we checked in. I did have some trouble with which key to use for what door (there were five of them)
Access to the buses and Metro were very convenient.
Room and bath were clean.
