The area is relatively quiet, the check-in process was very smooth, parking with a lockable gate at the back of the house was provided. A fan was also nice to have in the room in the warm days. We got all the keys that were needed (including one from our room and the back gate).
I was personally slightly surprised about the blanket without any covering (though we got clean bed linens for both pillow and the mattress). I've been told that it's been freshly washed and it can be replaced though.
The bathroom area was relatively clean, but it may need a bit more care in terms of repairs (the shower doors can not be closed entirely + the bathroom cabinet varnish is peeling off and the metallic rack behind the toilet is rusty).
The back road to the parking was a bit messy (we've seen an old mattress and some other rubbish including some sharp things), but I guess that's not entirely their fault, just make sure you won't need to replace your tires after driving through.
We stayed there for two nights in the single person room. Had 2 people so Kelly (Ryan's sister) put an air mattress with extra linen in there for us. The room was a little tight for two people but would be perfect for one person. Full kitchen and 2 bathrooms for guests to share. The location is convenient and basically in Koreatown. I suggest going to the Boba Time bubble tea/dessert place, we had some good milk tea from there and saw people ordered huge desserts.
Ryan's places was as described, clean and a great place to stay close to the metro line for easy access to downtown LA and Hollywood. Would recommend to anyone.
The hosts were always available via phone and easy to connect with. The house looks like a beautiful villa in the photograph, however the neighbourhood feels very neglected and I wouldn't stay in such a neighbourhood again. For the price you pay, this is a good deal however and parking is included. I personally didn't like the fact that another airbnb guest had a dog and this left a bad smell in the kitchen. However, for those used to pets there is free coffee & tea, use for iron, and two bathrooms to choose from.
I had a major problem with the blanket given to us. It had fluff coming out of everywhere and ruined our clothes. I was told it was brand new, which just could not have been possible. The blanket was immediately replaced when we flagged this up.
I would recommend this if you're on a tight budget.
The blanket was brand new and from Target. We bought them for summer, and specifically because they said on the label "No Pill", meaning they wouldn't do what it did. Once you showed us we immediately replaced it, and we rounded up the other ones we bought and returned them all to Target with a complaint. It didn't ruin your clothes either, it just got fuzz on them, which is annoying and a pain to brush off…. but it didn't ruin anything.
The neighborhood is not "neglected" and is 1 block from Wilshire Blvd, one of Los Angeles' main roads and 2 blocks from the main subway line.
The room was exactly as the pictures shown on the website. The host, Kelly, is great and helpful. Very close to public transportation, good area, good neighborhood. The room is clean, bed sheet and blanket provided, big closet to keep stuff. This place is totally great.
Ryan's sister Kelly was the host & she was very helpful. I arrived late but she patiently waited for me. She also allowed a late checkout & secured my luggage for a few hours.
The room was as advertised, comfortable & good value. The kitchen, bathrooms & clothes washing machines were clean & functional. Public transport (Metro & buses) are 5-10 mins walk away, & you can travel to Downtown or Hollywood in 15-20 mins. The Taco Bell (1 min away) is very handy for snacks or meals, & there are many supermarkets & "$1 shops" nearby.
Very clean secure friendly place. It was delightful.
The only reservation I have about the place is its name: it is not Hollywood by any means and it is even not a Downtown - at least, according to Metro definition of downtown. Both places are easily accessible though. Moreover, this place was better for me than both of them together.
Safe area. A lot of food places - it is warranted to come there just to eat. Mexican, Korean, Japanese, Greek, Thai, Salvadorean, Chinese; "Denny's", "McDonalds" 24 hours, another "McDonalds", "Starbucks", other cafes - I walked there. "Carl's Jr." Bars and night clubs. Convenience stores at every corner. Pizzas with funny prices. Gorgeous weather. A slew of local universities. Attractive young Asians throughout. Totally perfect infrastructure: subway, buses, taxis, parks, great Californian architecture, churches out of movies, tons of banks you will not find in other places. Ponds. Spas. Abundance of nail and barber shops. Pharmacies where you can buy even handcuffs! Movies ads on bus stops. The ambiance of a movie.
And the cream of the crop, the pinnacle of the pyramid - this place. The room has a bed on wheels, table, chair, bed table, mirror, closet with hangers, fan. Many, many power outlets. Linen, blanket, pillow, towels. A window you can open. They have 2 lavatories that are fully equipped!! There is one right against the room - almost private. There is a bath tub with a plug!!! Shower with hot water - no problem! A lot of toilet paper. Tampons! There are tooth paste and tooth brushes. There are shaving razors and shaving foam. Shampoos, body washes, conditioners. And everything is clean. Even Japanese shampoo they have. A lot of gated parking. Garden. Place to make BBQ. The kitchen is fully equipped too: refrigerator, microwave, oven, tableware, toaster, blender, rice cooker, dishwasher, iron, books, sofa to socialize - even binocle along with flashlight. Washer and dryer - not free.
Ryan and Kelly are so not greedy. Wi-Fi - perfect. There is absolutely nothing negative about the place. I loved there everything. I would move there and call it a home if I could.
When God thought about locals - he established Los Angeles. When God thought about tourists - he put there Ryan.
It was so so considering the price.
Had a great stay here. Even though we did have some adjustments to our initial plan she worked with us. Definately would recommend! Great location as well.
