Welcome to Victoria
VICTORIA IS HAVING A HEAT WAVE AND OUR HOUSE, LIKE MOST IN VICTORIA IS NOT AIR CONDITIONED. WE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO KEEP THE GUEST ROOM AS COOL AS POSSIBLE.
Guests have access to our back deck and garden. There is a Pergola at the end of the garden that guests can sit in at any time.
Guests will be sharing the main bathroom with us, which is discretely located at the bottom of the stairs to the guest room, for a bath or shower but have their own 2 piece bathroom off their room.
Interaction with Guests
We are always present at our house when guests are staying with us. We try not to intrude on our guests if they seem to prefer to have time on their own but are there if they feel like chatting. Breakfast served between 8 and 9.30.
We like to think of ourselves as concierges when and if the guest requires extra information on the area.
Our neighborhood is close to downtown Victoria bur far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. We love the convenience of all the stores on Quadra St, a 10 minute walk from our house. The neighborhood is full of vintage houses and beautiful gardens plus there is a wild flower and oak meadow at the top of our road with a view over Victoria.
By car, public transport or on foot our neighborhood is a delight to stay in.
Victoria is a city to visit at any time of the year. We have a mild winter climate, early spring and late fall season. The summer season varies from comfortably warm and dry to downright hot at times. Victoria has much less rain fall than the mainland.
The buses run frequently within blocks of our house to downtown, UVIC and Camosen College. The airporter is easy to catch from Quadra Village a few blocks from our house .
We have safe street parking outside our house.
Other Things to Note
Our neighborhood has restaurants and cafes and a theater that performs live theater and/or movies at different times of the year. See guidebook.

We had a great stay at Catherine's. The town centre is a nice walk away. It was nice chatting to Catherine. We would definitely stay here again.
Catherine and Gerard were very kind and welcoming. They made my boyfriend and I feel comfortable immediately. We were more than pleased by the room and amenities they offered us. Their home is well decorated and Victorian style. It is quaint and beautiful and they have a gorgeous garden in the backyard. The breakfast was wonderful and Catherine and Gerard were very pleasant and engaging. We had great conversations. We could not have asked for a better experience.
Catherine and Gerard were great hosts! They made us feel very welcome and have such a lovely home. I highly recommend staying here. The breakfast was always amazing, and conversation, even greater! Thanks!
Catherine and Gerard have a beautiful home and are so helpful with directions and recommendations. The breakfast was delicious and the conversations even better. I would totally recommend staying with Catherine and Gerard when visiting Victoria.
We stayed in a beautiful home with a nice garden that makes your breakfast a pleasant experience. Thanks Gomez to let us share time with you.
Un excellent séjour à Victiria dans une maison chaleureuse chez des hôtes très accueillants que nous recommandons
LA halte à Victoria!
Catherine and Gerard were one of the most welcoming hosts I've ever met. Their unique house is comfortable, clean and located in a quiet neighbourhood close to a bus stop. We really enjoyed all home-made breakfast that was served by Gerard and followed by interesting conversation. Our room was spacious and with a lot of interesting details. If you stayed at this house you experienced Victorian style living.
About the Host, Catherine
Gerard and I are a very energetic retired couple who are enjoying having more time to spend in and around our house, built around 1900, in its ever developing garden and sharing it with our many wonderful airbnb guests. I am originally from England and Gerard from Quebec. I am a retired Pediatric RN and Gerard is a semi-retired house painter and designer/renovator with an interest in Art History and English Literature. We have lived in Victoria for over 30 years and are always finding new places to explore and enjoy here.
We love to travel and explore new places with interesting architecture, different cuisines and cultures.
We used Airbnb this year to find our accommodations for a winter trip to the Yucatan, with great success and a fall trip to New York 2 years ago. Our favorite destination is Europe, especially Venice, London and the South of France.
We are keen gardeners, readers, theater goers, music lovers and enjoy great food. We have a beautiful and affectionate 20 yr old cat called Gomez.
We look forward to meeting you and hosting for you soon.
