Our neighborhood is close to downtown Victoria bur far enough away to be peaceful and quiet. We love the convenience of all the stores on Quadra St, a 10 minute walk from our house. The neighborhood is full of vintage houses and beautiful gardens plus there is a wild flower and oak meadow at the top of our road with a view over Victoria.
By car, public transport or on foot our neighborhood is a delight to stay in.
Victoria is a city to visit at any time of the year. We have a mild winter climate, early spring and late fall season. The summer season varies from comfortably warm and dry to downright hot at times. Victoria has much less rain fall than the mainland.
The buses run frequently within blocks of our house to downtown, UVIC and Camosen College. The airporter is easy to catch from Quadra Village a few blocks from our house .
We have safe street parking outside our house.
Other Things to Note
Our neighborhood has restaurants and cafes and a theater that performs live theater and/or movies at different times of the year. See guidebook.
No smoking in house or on deck.
Use of shared bath or shower, please bring the bath mat provided in your room to use in main bathroom for your bath or shower.
Soft shoes to be worn on main floor of the house, we have a tenant in our ground floor flat.
We were so happy to meet Catherine and Gerard. First we were contacted by email and when we arrived welcomed into their home. It is very lovely and comfortable with lots of room and a view. We enjoyed friendly conversations, info about the neighbourhood, delicious homemade granola, toast and preserves and a stroll in their splendid garden. We look forward to our next visit! Thank you.
This was my second time staying with Catherine and Gerard. The private space upstairs is very comfortable. They make wonderful bread and homemade jam and fresh orange juice for breakfast - plus good coffee! I enjoyed my conversations with them in the mornings. I would definitely stay here again!
I had a lovely stay with lovely hosts. Hopefully there will be another opportunity on my end to visit again.
The house and the room was definitely a work of art, enjoyed every details of the house, very cozy, warming, totally recommend it!!
Catherine is a great host. Her place is very nice and convenient located. Her partner and her are very friendly and nice to talk to. They provided a beautiful breakfast. The stay was great.
I really enjoyed staying with Catherine and Gerard. They are great hosts. I had a nice space to myself, but plenty of conversation in the morning at breakfast - and the breakfast was wonderful! Information about Victoria is available in the room and there are two very comfortable chairs to sit in and read. The neighbourhood is quiet and I found it convenient to get downtown and to UVic by car, and I parked right outside their house. I was concerned about sharing the shower, but it was conveniently located so I didn't have to go through the house to get to it. I hope to stay with them again when I am back in Victoria.
Gerard and I are a very energetic retired couple who are enjoying having more time to spend in and around our house, built around 1900, in its ever developing garden and sharing it with our many wonderful airbnb guests. I am originally from England and Gerard from Quebec. I am a retired Pediatric RN and Gerard is a semi-retired house painter and designer/renovator with an interest in Art History and English Literature. We have lived in Victoria for over 30 years and are always finding new places to explore and enjoy here.
We love to travel and explore new places with interesting architecture, different cuisines and cultures.
We used Airbnb this year to find our accommodations for a winter trip to the Yucatan, with great success and a fall trip to New York 2 years ago. Our favorite destination is Europe, especially Venice, London and the South of France.
We are keen gardeners, readers, theater goers, music lovers and enjoy great food. We have a beautiful and affectionate 20 yr old cat called Gomez.
We look forward to meeting you and hosting for you soon.
