My husband and I just returned from four nights at Suzanne's teak cottage and we enjoyed the experience thoroughly. The cottage is beautifully furnished and Is surrounded by dozens of fruit and flowering trees. It's off the grid with no phone service but has wi-fi. You cook and bathe in rain water collected in a cistern; so great for your hair and skin. The cottage is run by solar energy. The evenings are the utmost in relaxation listening to the frogs and crickets outdoors and the bright evening stars. Do not miss Alahanui Park Hot Springs just 15 minutes on Route 137. Suzanne is a sweet person who wants to ensure that you enjoy your stay. You have complete privacy with the exception of island geckos which are harmless and added to the charm of this island adventure. This place holds some of our favorite memories of the big island. Don't miss the experience!!
The Balinese Teak Cottage was a beautiful place to stay--the setting is gorgeous, green and opulent. The house was equipped with all one needs to vacation. Suzanne was a gracious host--even caring for the laptop we inadvertently left behind until the following day when we retrieved it! We would happily return. Thanks, Suzanne
We had a fantastic stay at Suzanne's cottage! The cottage and surrounding gardens are beautiful and secluded, while still being very close to surrounding beaches another points of interest. Suzanne was a great host! She was lovely to deal with and very flexible with our arrival/departure times. Suzanne also provided some toiletries and snorkel gear at the cottage, which we greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Suzanne's lovely cottage and hope to come back again some day!
Suzanne was very accessible and accommodating. She met us on our arrival and gave us information about the surrounding area with great local tips for activities and attractions nearby. The place was adorable! So unique and tranquil as well as very clean. The outdoor shower was truly a treat and we enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the surrounding forest and rainfall each night. Highly recommend!
Suzanne's cottage was amazing! Everything we needed was supplied, including snorkel gear and boogie boards. If off the grid is what you're after, this is the place to be! The closest shops for groceries were about a 15-20 minute drive away. The cottage is surrounded by fruit trees and jungle. Suzanne was very approachable and pointed out some awesome sites to see in the area. This was the perfect place for some R&R! I highly recommend staying here!
We had an amazing long weekend at Suzanne's teak bungalow! It was great to unwind and check out the market with the locals. We had great food from Uncle Roberts Saturday morning farmers market.
It was also great that when we had our fill of reading, playing cards, hiking around and general relaxing we were able to turn on her fast internet and watch netflix and listen to music.
The charming house geckos were fun to watch and kept the bugs away. The kitchen is stocked with utensils and cooking supplies, so this place has everything you need for a weekend away! Just bring something fun to cook and have a great time!
The outdoor shower is simple and hot. TONS of fun snorkeling and sight seeing close by. Get away from Kona and come out to this spot on the east side!
Awesome house, cabin, location!!! Everything was so right on,beautiful job Suzanne!
About the Host, Suzanne
I've worked in the hospitality industry serving guests with aloha for the last 25 years. I also enjoy gardening and creating beautiful outdoor spaces. Some guests tell me the grounds look like a tropical botanical park. Hosting a vacation rental gives me the opportunity to combine my talents in creating rewarding and rich experiences for my guests and myself.
My objective in building the cottage was to create an ambience of old Hawaii, with a sense of timelessness for ultimate relaxation and peace.
