In a secluded, hand-crafted off the grid cabin, come and enjoy the elements with us at Drift Farmstead. A 3-minute walk leads you through gardens and pasture, to Ravenwood, a small, intimate cabin with everything you need. Be it an extended weekend tucked in seclusion, amongst the birds, river and trees, or find the comforts of a 37 acre small farm nestled in the mountains and settle in, working from afar. Top shelf skiing at Sugarbush is near, along with Vermont's finest grub and beer.
The space
Welcome to Ravenwood!
This cabin steps one away from the busy life, and into the fern-laden forest. Allow the trees, birds, whispering wind, and rain song to drift you into a quiet and calm space.
We also have a second Farm Stay rental on the farm. Book with a friend! Check out, "Peaceful Secluded Spacious Escape (With Sauna!)" on airbnb.
In October 2011, Josh and Misse stepped onto this land, where the origin of the Dog River watershed, meets the Eastern slope of the Northfield Mountain Range. Josh converted the barn into his Shop/Studio and Showroom, where he builds frames from re-claimed wood for his film, Fine Art Photography and other artists across the country. See Josh Axelrod's website. He sells his work throughout the nation at Fine Art Festivals and Galleries. Josh grew up on a dairy farm in PA, where his grandmother hosted many people from around the world, on her farm Bed & Breakfast. Misse has a long history of hospitality, a love affair with growing and cooking food, and for educating all ages. To learn more about the farm, visit the Drift Farmstead VT website. Our combined passions for travel to off the beaten path lands, inspired us to share our day-to-day adventure here at Drift Farmstead, with guests from all around.
In 2015 Josh harvested trees from the land and milled piles and piles of lumber for this cabin (as well as many other projects around the farm). In 2020 Josh first broke ground for Ravenwood. He utilized a water source from a near-by spring and began to build the cabin. Every piece of wood, every nail, was carefully planned and created with intention. As the cabin slowly was built, the spirits of the forest entered the space.
We are psyched to have you join us at Drift Farmstead!
Safe travels,
Josh, Misse, Haven, Rowan Axelrod
Guest access
What do I need to know before arriving?
The cabin is .15 of a mile/2.5-minute walk from the farm parking lot, through gardens, pasture, and woods. A garden cart or sled (in winter) is available for moving luggage in and out. Cabin signs and solar lights mark your way.
Vermont weather changes by the minute, prepare for all weather and pack layers. Bring shoes that can get muddy and have good traction. You will want rain/snow gear and/or an umbrella for getting to the cabin. A headlamp is helpful for the evening return.
Winter travel in Vermont often includes ice, snow, and mud…. All-wheel drive vehicles are recommended in winter and early spring (mud season).
Check-in is 3pm
Check out is 11am
