The hidden gem of Southwest GA, VEFF is being restored for full-farming
operation. The home of this estate was originally built in 1925. After experiencing a fire in the early 90’s and room additions soon after, the home and its 5.79 acres of property is now owned and operated by Mr. C.A. Vicks. The VEFF has proven to be a respite for learning, laughing, and now lodging! Enjoy a complimentary full southern breakfast each morning with options to add lunch/dinner; all prepared by chef Vicks!

The space
Find yourself immersed in french country decadence at the estate. Original hardwood pine downstairs and brand new hardwood floors upstairs provide a feeling of elegance. The stone, wood, and iron-casted staircase prelude to the deluxe lounging accommodations found on the second floor. Both bedrooms provide comfort and privacy as guests relax and sleep in newly furnished spaces comparable to any five-star hotel. Refresh yourself in either full bathroom; the upstairs option being fully renovated with Spanish and Brazilian tile and a rainfall shower head. If you and your guests wish to lounge, "The Ella" provides you that space in its exquisitely furnished den.

Guest access
Guests have access to two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, the dining room, the great room, and the front and back lawns. Access to "The Arddie Mae" our four seasons room is provided under special requests. This space is often used for guests' lunches and dinners which may be added to any reservation.

During your stay
I will be your onsite concierge and chef. You will have direct access to me as your resource while visiting. As a native of Southwest Georgia, rest assured you will receive an exclusive experience. I will be as involved or invisible as you would like during your stay, as our private sleeping and lounging quarters are on opposite sides of the estate and separated by the foyer; we additionally do not share bathrooms.

Other things to note
Guests have the option to add lunch and/or dinner as well as hosts dinner guests and entertain private soirees at The Vicks Estate. These services are provided directly by the hosts and may be coordinated separately from your reservation for a nominal fee. A deluxe southern breakfast is complimentary for each guests and is served from 9 AM - 11:30 AM daily in the estate's dining room, "The VanEsther".

Located in historic Putney, GA, just north of Radium Springs Gardens, a stone’s throw from where the meeting grounds leading to the “Camilla Massacre” was organized and where W.E.B. DuBois visited as is recorded in his prolific series of essays "The Souls of Black Folk". Enjoy our Putney Park's basketball court, walking track, and fishing pond walking distance from the estate. Just four miles north of the estate is the Radium Springs Garden's river walking trail, isometric exercise pavilion, and natural spring. I’m happy to spend time with my guests or give them space
I am Clinton Vicks, a chef, entertainer, and educator. After 18 years of working as a performer and communications specialist in NYC and DC, I returned to the land where I grew up. I am the 5th generation of my family to farm the land of Southwest Georgia. I believe it is essential for everyone to have the opportunity to experience our land, our culture, and our food. A recent visitor shared, “I came to visit, and I'm leaving feeling better than I came.” I enjoy bringing people together and recognize the catharsis that emerges from the freedom of nature, open spaces, and a warm welcome. Whether hosting a small family cookout or a community Juneteenth celebration, my guests share farm-to-table cuisine, curated music, the occasional live performance, and a spiritual and soul connection with humanity and the earth.
