Me and my girlfriend Lisa had a lovely lovely time at Amie's staying for the Fringe Festival. Her flat is only minutes away from Princes St, in the heart of Edinburgh. All the facilities in the flat worked charmingly well, hot water, heating, kitchen apparel, washing machine. Right outside our door we had a Co-operative market and a Tesco Express, making our lives very easy on the food matter. The street is very quiet and peaceful, only a block away from a bunch of nice restaurants and cafes. Amie was very caring and attentive, always ready to help, as did the neighbors in the building. The scots are a handful of nice people, we hope to come back soon!
Well, the apartment is really very well situated - quite close to central railway station, old and new city center, shops, main points of attraction etc. And Amie was really helpful and welcoming with a set of musli, milk, bread and jam for breakfast awaiting in the flat.
However the flat is very basic and needs renovation badly. It actually looks a little bit worse than at photos. And it lacks some essential things like TV, Wi-Fi and hair-dryer. Though equipped kitchen allowed us to save at food costs.
I think it was too pricy for what we got. Though I think this is Edinburgh Festival who we should blame for this.
Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry that you found our home in need of renovation, and to be honest, your review is this first one of this nature. Our apartment is an old building like many of the shared apartments in and around Edinburgh, and has original flooring, fireplace and other period features, with up-to-date facilities in the shower room and kitchen (new fridge and washer). As detailed on the listing, a TV, Wi-Fi and hair dryer were not promised (although I think a hairdryer would be a useful addition). Both the daily rate and monthly rate are less then recommended prices for during the festival and outside of these times, so I'm afraid, it's probably just Edinburgh in general that you found expensive!
All the best
Amie is a great host! Although we didn't meet Amie during our stay, she made sure that we felt welcome and at home at her beautiful apartment. She made it very clear that we could always contact her if we needed something, which we did a few times and she was always able to help us out.
There was a small breakfast waiting for us when we arrived, as well as some other groceries, a nice touch. (It also came in handy, seeing as we arrived in the evening).
Amie also e-mailed us a document with information about the apartment and the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood itself was lovely. It was reasonably quiet and it was only a twenty minute walk from the Old Town and ten minutes to Calton Hill. McDonald Road is just off Leith Walk, a street with a lot of interesting shops, bars, restaurants and hairdressers! (For the guys: I can recommend a hot towel shave at Victoria Barbers!)
The building in which we stayed was next to a road, but we couldn't really hear the traffic from the apartment.
Amie's apartment is a great place to stay if you want to visit Edinburgh. We would recommend it to anyone.
We had a brilliant time in Amie's apartment. It's the perfect size for two and the location is ideally situated. Shops very close for home cooking (if desired) and only 15 mins walk into town. The building is delightful. Apartment was clean when arrived. Shower lovely. Would definitely recommend.
Great apartment in a great location for a very reasonable price. There's everything you'd need and it's really comfortable and warm. Quick walk to the train station and into town so very convenient. It's even better than the pictures let on, would highly recommend it!
Fabulous apartment in a great location! We arrived quite late to check in & Amie could not meet us, but she kindly organised her lovely friend to show us around the apartment. We really appreciated her hospitality & she was a very accommodating host. The apartment is just down the road from the major tourist hot spots in Edinburgh & there is a super market across the road which is very convenient. Amie's Apartment is defiantly a must stay if you are heading to Edinburgh, highly recommended!!
