We have a very large house in the close-in Southeast area of Westmoreland/Sellwood. We originally created the separate"studio" unit eight years ago on our second floor in case either of our two sons wanted to live here while they went to college locally. Well, our oldest decided to go out of state, so we have now opted to share this space with visitors. Only one door connects the studio with the rest of the house and we lock it and block it off with two feet of insulation to give visitors privacy.
Second floor one bedroom with separate entrance, its own new full kitchen and bathroom, lots of windows, skylights, laundry, balcony, and sun room. Popular Westmoreland/Sellwood area. Lots of stores, parks, restaurants, coffee shops, a 1-screen movie theater, grocery store and a 1910 amusement park within walking distance. Reed College a short walk. County golf course four blocks away (although we do not have clubs). Relax in the sun room and look at the tree tops or walkers/runners as they go by. LED TV, blu-ray player and wireless internet.
19 Bus stops right across the street for a 20-minute ride downtown.
There is traffic on our street, but it dies down in the evening and there's very little at night.
There is at least one parking spot right in front of our house that is almost always open, so parking is not a problem. Also, access to the Springwater corridor, which is a great paved bike path is less than 1 mile from our house. You can take it downtown along the river (northwest) or out to Gresham (East). Look it up on the internet and you can find out more about it. We have a walkability score of 88 and a Street Smart Walk Score of 97!
In a pinch, we could accommodate a third person. Send us a note.
NEW - we now have bicycles available. They are not high-end bikes, but they'll get you around. If you want better ones, there is a bike store nearby that rents bikes.
We have cats but we've kept them out of the studio.

Scott's place was so nice! Clean, sunny, convenient location on a quiet street. I would stay there again next time I'm in town.
Terrific apartment! I will definitely stay here the next time I'm in Portland!
We greatly enjoyed our stay in Scott's studio apartment. It is large, sunny, up to date, and fully equipped. The neighborhood is near Reed College, which is surrounded by large, beautifully maintained houses with lovely gardens and mature trees. Shops, restaurants, and coffee houses are within walking distance, and downtown Portland is easily accessible by car or bus. I would definitely stay in this studio again and would recommend it to friends and family traveling to Portland.
My wife and I enjoyed Scott's place very much. We were there for 11 nights. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom was bathed in light from the ski lights. The kitchen was well equipped and offered coffee and wine gratis. We liked the closed-in porch surrounded by windows where one of us could withdraw while the other rested.
A bike was available for my use. I rode on five different days on nearby trails. The place was clean and loaded with maps and brochures to aid one's access to Portland's assets. We hope to stay there again! John and Virginia
Such a great stay in Scott's beautiful studio. The place is very roomy, and the setup is great for two people. I tend to get up early, and the sunroom was a great place to read while my girlfriend slept.
The kitchen was stocked beyond any expectation we could have had. I would highly suggest stopping by before going to the grocery store.
The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in away from home.
The place was beautifully decorated, and we loved that almost every light had a dimmer!
My last comment is in regard to the neighborhood, if you are new to the area I would highly suggest it. There are great shops, parks, and cafes everywhere. It is well situated for your daily trips around the city, and Scott has a great number of books to help you plan your adventures.
I would easily book this place for my next stay in Portland.
We very much enjoyed our stay: the studio was spacious, bright and well-stocked with everything one might need for a short stay. We felt mixed about the location, however: on one hand, we love the Sellwood area, which is known for it's antique shops; on the other hand, the studio is situated on a traffic-heavy street that was quite noisy during the day and busy off and on at night. Overall, we would choose to stay here again over staying in a hotel, as it was a lovely space.
The only bad thing I have to say is that we had to leave! Scott was great, the apartment was fabulous. It was all that the pictures show and more. Scott gave us a great run-down of the area and lots of great suggestions. Easy access to anywhere in Portland - not to mention Scott let us have use of the bikes.
Scott's sunny studio was a perfect place for us while in Portland exploring the possibility of moving from our home in Vermont. It's a generously stocked, clean and comfortable space which feels like home away from home. We may be back.
My father stayed here for a month to visit with his adult children and his grandchildren. He loved the place. It is impeccably clean, tastefully decorated with high end items, and generously and thoughtfully stocked. He has already asked Scott about wanting to stay there next February. I will definitely recommend this place to others visiting us from out of town.
The apartment was flawless, as was the customer service. I will be back, hopefully with spouse in tow for more time here.
Clean, bright apartment with a kitchen nearly as well stocked as my home. Sun room is a sweet retreat. This is more than a studio apartment.
Prospective guests should be aware that there is a flight of stairs that must be climbed to reach the accommodations. Probably mentioned in the listing somewhere.
