Great location, clean, quiet, walking distance to UT and downtown.
This completely renovated condo is in the heart of downtown Austin. Walking distance to Campus, the AT&T Conference Center, the Erwin Center, the Capitol, and even 6th street. Granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom, bamboo floors, and beautiful new fixtures. Snacks and beverages await you when you arrive. Nicer than a hotel room with all the conveniences of home.
Technically a studio, the bedroom area has been nicely appointed (memory foam queen bed) and separated from the living room with curtains. This lends visual privacy in case you have 2 more friends staying on the fold-out futon couch in the living area. There are plenty of linens, extra pillows, throw blankets, foam topper for the futon, and even a twin-size tri-fold mattress if the futon gets too crowded. Make yourself at home watching TV (local channels, DVDs, and Netflix provided), using the wireless internet, or cooking a meal in the beautiful kitchen with all new, state-of-the-art appliances. There is a laundry room next door to the condo where you can do your laundry for free. (Tide pods and Bounce sheets provided!)
Please note: this unit is on the third floor and there is no elevator. There is also no pool or play area for small children.
Nueces Street is a quiet street with plenty of parking (free after 6 and on Sundays) and feels light years away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is free parking under the building (one assigned spot - reserved for your use), and the building itself could not be any quieter. You will truly enjoy this downtown oasis!
If you are in town for a conference at the AT&T center, you will be happy to know it is only 6 easy blocks away.
Four blocks from the UT campus, eight blocks from the Erwin Center, eleven blocks or a $5-$7 cab ride to 6th street or the football stadium. The Austin Convention Center is just about a mile and a half away, for a leisurely stroll through downtown or a $7-$8 cab ride. Starbucks and Wells Fargo are 2 blocks in one direction, sandwich shops and pizza 2 blocks in the other. There is a 7-11 in both directions. Great Indian food and neighborhood pubs in easy walking distance. This home away from home is near everything you need!
(If you are here to explore ALL the sights in Austin, I recommend renting a car. Austin is a big city.)
A note on check-in and check-out - it's as easy as can be at Downtown Oasis. While I love meeting my guests, it doesn't always work out with changing schedules. You will be given the updated electronic lock code for the door a few days before your stay. So it is never a problem if you need to arrive late or leave early - there is a solution in place!
Please let me know how many people will be staying and if you need the futon bed made up in advance. There is no charge for extra guests (max 4) but it helps me allot enough time for cleaning and preparation when I have proper information.
I am fully licensed by the city of Austin, and my rates include the 15% occupancy tax I pay to Austin and the state of Texas. Airbnb adds their own fees on top of my rates.
*Downtown Oasis is right next door to Downtown Oasis 2, which is also my property. They are very similar in layout and identical in amenities.
**Some weekends and special events are at higher rates. SXSW has a 5 night minimum stay. F1 and ACL have a 3 night minimum.**
I provide the following amenities for your stay:
Clean sheets, extra blankets
Soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash
Iron and ironing board
A few snacks and drinks to welcome you!
Please treat the Downtown Oasis as you would your own home. There are dumpsters in the garage for you to throw out your trash at the end of your visit. If you leave dishes in the dishwasher, please run it before you leave so I can unload it when I come to clean. Please be sure that I have your cell number before your stay so that I will be certain to answer your calls or texts promptly. The complex is super quiet - you won't hear a thing your entire stay - so please help keep it that way. The Downtown Oasis is such a peaceful, quiet place I know you're going to love it!
Thanks Alexis! Always a challenge to convince my husband to travel using Airbnb, but you won him over when he discovered the Clorox wipes in the apartment!!! And the place was clean & welcoming ( hooray for the bagels/cream cheese so I could feed my teenage son before our early tour of UT ). All the comforts of home and more than perfect location for the task of exploring both University of Texas and Austin! We will be back!!!!
Alexis was super quick to respond to questions before arrival, and check in/out was a breeze. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The apartment was perfect for what we needed in Austin.
This was the PERFECT place to stay during SXSW! The apartment is exactly how it looks in the photos (which is to say it's great), and Alexis is the most thoughtful host! There were tons of snacks and candies waiting for me upon check-in, lots of toiletries if I needed them, and instructions for everything I could possibly need. The apartment is extremely relaxing, and the perfect distance from downtown - just far enough to be nice and quiet, but close enough to have a nice walk to all the action. I would LOVE the opportunity to stay in this apt again!
The apartment was perfect for me at SXSWEDU. I could easily walk downtown getting to know Austin. All the conveniences plus nice touches such as snacks, drinks, and some toiletries. I had forgotten toothpaste and there it was. Thoughtful host and sweet apartment. Much nicer than the corporate vibe of the conference hotels . Thanks Alexis
This was the most amazing experience I have had with AirBNB. Firstly, Alexis' place was awesome - super comfortable and well appointed. I have stayed in high-end hotels that had fewer amenities than the apartment. There was everything we could need to get around the city - maps, public transport guides etc (tip: Uber works really well here and airport taxis are horrific, avoid them!). Alexis had provided a welcome pack which was like a little miracle when we arrived at midnight - it meant we didn't need to get up early hunting for breakfast.
During our stay Alexis was readily available and we really appreciated her flexibility in check-in/out times.
The location is ideal for both the uni and the downtown area - we walked most of the time but had no trouble in 'Uber-ing' when needed.
I would give an unwavering recommendation for this host and I really hope to return in the future.
Alexis is a superb hostess, not only is the apartment welcoming, spotless, and comfortable, but also she has added so many thoughtful touches (snacks, information, instructions) for a traveler that it was more comfortable than being in a hotel. The location was perfect for me and very quiet. I really do want to stay here again when I come back to Austin. Thanks Alexis!!
The apartment was very welcoming, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The whole apartment felt like a home away from home, with all the amenities that could have asked for including little things. Alexis was a great hostess, available to us at any time and made sure that we had everything that we needed. The location was perfect. We were able to easily walk or take public transportation to all the places we wanted to in Austin. The University is especially close as well as the downtown area which is just 15-20 minute walk. There is also a bus station very close by. I would be happy to stay here again in future trips to Austin.

Thank you for looking at my listings: Downtown Oasis and Downtown Oasis 2 in Austin, Texas.
A little about me: My passions range from books, movies, animals, and anything Austin to traveling the world. I've seen many of the great sights here in the U.S. and have also managed to visit Canda, Mexico, Australia, several places in the Caribbean, many countries in Europe, and a variety of countries in Asia. Singapore is probably my favorite country, but just to visit!
I grew up in Connecticut and lived in Austin, L.A., Houston, San Diego, and Seattle. Austin was and is my favorite place to live. It's home.
