About this listing
Great location, clean, quiet, walking distance to UT and downtown.
This completely renovated condo is in the heart of downtown Austin. Walking distance to Campus, the AT&T Conference Center, the Erwin Center, the Capitol, and even 6th street. Granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom, bamboo floors, and beautiful new fixtures. Snacks and beverages await you when you arrive. Nicer than a hotel room with all the conveniences of home.
Technically a studio, the bedroom area has been nicely appointed (memory foam queen bed) and separated from the living room with curtains. This lends visual privacy in case you have 2 more friends staying on the fold-out futon couch in the living area. There are plenty of linens, extra pillows, throw blankets, foam topper for the futon, and even a twin-size tri-fold mattress if the futon gets too crowded. Make yourself at home watching TV (local channels, DVDs, and Netflix provided), using the wireless internet, or cooking a meal in the beautiful kitchen with all new, state-of-the-art appliances. There is a laundry room next door to the condo where you can do your laundry for free. (Detergent pods and Bounce sheets provided!)
Please note: this unit is on the third floor and there is no elevator. There is also no pool or play area for small children, and the condo is not baby-proofed. No pets. Maximum occupancy is 4, no exceptions!
Nueces Street is a quiet street with plenty of parking (free after 6 and on Sundays) and feels light years away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is free parking under the building (one assigned spot - reserved for your use), and the building itself could not be any quieter. You will truly enjoy this downtown oasis!
If you are in town for a conference at the AT&T center, you will be happy to know it is only 6 easy blocks away.
Four blocks from the UT campus, eight blocks from the Erwin Center, eleven blocks or a $5-$7 cab ride to 6th street or the football stadium. The Austin Convention Center is just about a mile and a half away, for a leisurely stroll through downtown or a $7-$8 cab ride. Starbucks and Wells Fargo are 2 blocks in one direction, sandwich shops and pizza 2 blocks in the other. There is a 7-11 in both directions. Great Indian food and neighborhood pubs in easy walking distance. This home away from home is near everything you need!
(If you are here to explore ALL the sights in Austin, I recommend renting a car. Austin is a big city.)
A note on check-in and check-out - it's as easy as can be at Downtown Oasis. While I love meeting my guests, it doesn't always work out with changing schedules. You will be given the updated electronic lock code for the door a few days before your stay. So it is never a problem if you need to arrive late or leave early - there is a solution in place!
Please let me know how many people will be staying and if you need the futon bed made up in advance. There is no charge for extra guests (max 4) but it helps me allot enough time for cleaning and preparation when I have proper information.
I am fully licensed by the city of Austin, and my rates include the 15% occupancy tax I pay to Austin and the state of Texas. Airbnb adds their own fees on top of my rates.
*Downtown Oasis is right next door to Downtown Oasis 2, which is also my property. They are very similar in layout and identical in amenities.
**Some weekends and special events are at higher rates. SXSW has a 5 night minimum stay. F1 and ACL have a 3 night minimum.**
I provide the following amenities for your stay:
Clean sheets, extra blankets
Soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash
Iron and ironing board
A few snacks and drinks to welcome you!
Interaction with Guests
I am just a text or email away. My phone silences texts from 11pm to 8am, so if there is an emergency during that time please CALL. Otherwise text is probably the fastest way to reach me.
Please treat the Downtown Oasis as you would your own home. There are dumpsters in the garage for you to throw out your trash at the end of your visit. Please hand wash any dishes you use, or else load the dishwasher. If you leave dishes in the dishwasher, please run it before you leave so I can unload it when I come to clean. Please be sure that I have your cell number before your stay so that I will be certain to answer your calls or texts promptly. The complex is super quiet - you won't hear a thing your entire stay - so please help keep it that way. The Downtown Oasis is such a peaceful, quiet place I know you're going to love it!
From Mar 10 - 20, 2016 the minimum stay is 5 nights.
Great experience. Everything was as seen in post. Would rent from Alexis again.
Loved the location - on a quiet, residential street about 20 minutes walk away from the 'real' downtown (6th street, Wholefoods etc!) and only about 10 minutes' walk from the UT campus. The flat was great - well air conditioned and really well stocked with all essentials plus some extras. Alexis was a perfect host from beginning to end and regularly checked in with us via e-mail to see if we had everything we needed. Highly recommended - especially if in our case you have business at UT but would also like to be close to downtown Austin. Thanks for everything Alexis!
The listing was incredibly accurate and the pictures did the spot justice. Alexis had snacks and bottled water waiting for us, which was perfect because the weather was over 100 degrees when we arrived. There are fans and AC that kept our stay chilled out. The location is not hard to find using any online mapping system.
Beyond what would be standard, we found amenities like sun screen, reusable grocery bags (Austin has a bag ban that we didn't know about), and even lawn chairs in case we wanted to go to a park. One of the drawers in the kitchen has all of the knick-knack stuff a normal person wouldn't bring on vacation that were super helpful; safety pins, lint roller, pens and notes. Alexis also provided us with maps of the city and the bus lines. Although we didn't have time to use it there are some movies and Netflix available along with wifi. The location is only a few blocks from many bus lines, even in the heat this was not a hassle to use. All of our Uber rides from the 6th street area were six dollars or less even at surge pricing. None of the drivers had any issue finding the building.
The location was not the only shockingly awesome part of this rental, but Alexis herself. When we checked in she advised us to drink plenty of fluids with the upcoming heat that Austin would be dealing with. After a day or so into our trip she also texted to check in and see how our stay was, every response was quick and helpful. More than just the snacks waiting there was a personalized note on the fridge welcoming us to the area.
I booked this place for about a week to host my parents who came to see my from China. This place gave them a very comfortable stay so that they could recover from jet lag smoothly and start a new living here quickly. All the facilities are well-prepared and very considerate. The kitchen and laundry room are tidy and totally ready to use. The location is amazing, just within a walking distance to downtown and to the university. Like all the previous comments, the convenience and coziness to stay in this place proved to be beyond expectation. The hostess Alexis is also great to communicate. It was a shame that we cannot meet her in person. Anyway, I would definitely recommend the downtown oasis to my friends.
Alexis made me feel welcomed with many small touches, like a personalized note, snacks and beverages. She thought of all of the essentials and it seemed like each day I found another aspect of the condo that I liked even more. The neighborhood was very eclectic and there were shops and food close by. The listing was very accurate. You felt as if you were staying in the home of your very organized and very thoughtful friend. When I return to Austin I will make every effort to book with Alexis again. I'm so glad that my first airbnb experience was such a great one.
Alexis is such a super host! The entire process from booking to check out was surprisingly smooth. It was my first time using AirBnb and i'm super glad I booked with her. Her place is so much more beautiful in person. She made my son and I felt so at home. She welcomed us with a personalized greeting and even prepared light snacks and beverages. Thank you Alexis! I look forward to booking with casa alexis for future austin trips :)

Singapore is probably my favorite country, but just to visit!
I grew up in Connecticut and lived in Austin, L.A., Houston, San Diego, and Seattle. Austin was and is my favorite place to live. It's home.
