The Space

This completely renovated condo is in the heart of downtown Austin. Walking distance to Campus, the AT&T Conference Center, the Erwin Center, the Capitol, and even 6th street. Granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom, bamboo floors, and beautiful new fixtures. Snacks and beverages await you when you arrive. Nicer than a hotel room with all the conveniences of home.

Technically a studio, the bedroom area has been nicely appointed (memory foam queen bed) and separated from the living room with curtains. This lends visual privacy in case you have 2 more friends staying on the fold-out futon couch in the living area. There are plenty of linens, extra pillows, throw blankets, foam topper for the futon, and even a twin-size tri-fold mattress if the futon gets too crowded. Make yourself at home watching TV (local channels, DVDs, and Netflix provided), using the wireless internet, or cooking a meal in the beautiful kitchen with all new, state-of-the-art appliances. There is a laundry room next door to the condo where you can do your laundry for free. (Tide pods and Bounce sheets provided!)

Please note: this unit is on the third floor and there is no elevator. There is also no pool or play area for small children.

Nueces Street is a quiet street with plenty of parking (free after 6 and on Sundays) and feels light years away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is free parking under the building (one assigned spot), and the building itself could not be any quieter. You will truly enjoy this downtown oasis!

If you are in town for a conference at the AT&T center, you will be happy to know it is only 6 easy blocks away.

Four blocks from the UT campus, eight blocks from the Erwin Center, eleven blocks or a $5-$7 cab ride to 6th street or the football stadium. The Austin Convention Center is just about a mile and a half away, for a leisurely stroll through downtown or a $7-$8 cab ride. Starbucks and Wells Fargo are 2 blocks in one direction, sandwich shops and pizza 2 blocks in the other. There is a 7-11 in both directions. Great Indian food and neighborhood pubs in easy walking distance. This home away from home is near everything you need!

(If you are here to explore ALL the sights in Austin, I recommend renting a car. Austin is a big city.)

A note on check-in and check-out - it's as easy as can be at Downtown Oasis. While I love meeting my guests, it doesn't always work out with changing schedules. You will be given the updated electronic lock code for the door a few days before your stay. So it is never a problem if you need to arrive late or leave early - there is a solution in place!

Please let me know how many people will be staying and if you need the futon bed made up in advance. There is no charge for extra guests (max 4) but it helps me allot enough time for cleaning and preparation when I have proper information.

*Downtown Oasis is right next door to Downtown Oasis 2, which is also my property. They are very similar in layout and identical in amenities.

  • I visited Austin for a week to go to a conference at the AT&T center. The apartment was very close. I didn't spend much time there, but the space was clean and everything I needed was stocked somewhere. Definite step up from the hotel alternatives.

  • Two friends and I were in Austin for 4th of July weekend and stayed in one of Alexis's units.

Alexis was very professional. She set the place up like a hotel - it was very clean and comfortable and she provided a binder with things to do around town. She also left some snacks and beverages for us, which was a nice surprise. Didn't interact with her in person, but she was helpful and responsive to our texts.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and I have to admit, it set the bar pretty high. Alexis was wonderfully responsive, flexible, and provided small amenities that made our trip more comfortable. We were within walking distance to the UT campus, eateries, & coffee shops. It was great! No complaints here.

  • Alexis is a great host. She has everything prepared for all guests could spend a unforgetable time in Austin. The condo is very nice and conf. Great location, and you couldn't even hear any sound from the street. If you arrive tired from a long day around Austin you could spend a quiet movie night in the condo. Hope to be there soon! Austin is a great city.

  • The Downtown Oasis by Alexis was the BEST housing option I've ever seen in Austin. I rented this apartment for my dad during UT Austin's graduation weekend. Located at 17th and Nueces, this oasis lives up to its name. It was quiet and a little slice of heaven just steps away from the busy university.

Alexis made it easily to move in and out (even letting us check-in early) and provided snacks, directions and countless recommendations. I've lived in Austin for 4 years and cannot rave enough about how affordable this was! I would suggest this location for anyone traveling to UT or downtown Austin.

  • It is always a pleasure when we stay at one of Alxeis' properties! When planning a trip to Austin we try to book with her before looking at anything else. Her spaces are very well equipted and nicely furnished. The covered parking and the gated entry is a bonus. The condo is in a quiet neighborhood and convienient to most anything in town. We appreciate Alexis' generosity and consideration to detail. If I have forgotten to pack something chances are Alexis has it in the condo...labled and easy to find! We are so thankful for the food and water in the fridge she provides, it certainly helps when we are packing up to leave town. The Downtown Oasis is so comfortable and easy. Alexis is the Best!

  • The "Downtown Oasis" was perfect for what we were looking for! Alexis, the host, had everything set up for us when we arrived - beds made, tons of towels, soap, shampoo, detergent (for dishwasher and for clothes!), dry sheets, easy instructions and a binder full of recommended restaurants and maps of Austin!

We had a minor maintenance issue with the shower - however, a quick text message to Alexis and she had her handyman come by immediately to fix the problem. It was perfect. Alexis was so accommodating and helpful.

I forgot to mention - she also left us a fridge stocked with soda and water, coffee and tea on the counter, along with chips and snacks for our stay!

Couldn't have asked for a better host.

The condo was also beautiful - very clean, newly renovated - the photos are legit! The futon was very comfortable! Did I mention we had access to Netflix?!

    Thanks Alexis!

About
My passions range from books, movies, animals, and anything Austin to traveling the world. I've seen many of the great sights here in the U.S. and have also managed to visit Canda, Mexico, Australia, several places in the Caribbean, many countries in Europe, and a variety of countries in Asia. Singapore is probably my favorite country, but just to visit! I grew up in Connecticut and then migrated out to Austin in the 90s. After leaving to live in L.A., Houston, San Diego, and Seattle, I made my way back to Austin and am so happy to be back where I belong!
