Downtown Oasis - Quiet Retreat!

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Nueces St, Austin, TX 78701, United States

The Space

This completely renovated condo is in the heart of downtown Austin. Walking distance to Campus, the AT&T Conference Center, the Erwin Center, the Capitol, and even 6th street. Granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom, bamboo floors, and beautiful new fixtures. Snacks and beverages await you when you arrive. Nicer than a hotel room with all the conveniences of home.

Technically a studio, the bedroom area has been nicely appointed (pillow top queen bed!) and separated from the living room with curtains. This lends visual privacy in case you have 2 more friends staying on the fold-out futon couch in the living area. There are plenty of linens, extra pillows, throw blankets, foam topper for the futon, and even a twin-size tri-fold mattress if the futon gets too crowded. Make yourself at home watching TV (one in each room, along with a DVD player and ROKU in the living room), using the wireless internet, or cooking a meal in the beautiful kitchen with all new, state-of-the-art appliances. There is a laundry room next door to the condo where you can do your laundry for free. (Tide pods and Bounce sheets provided!)

Please note: this unit is on the third floor and there is no elevator. There is also no pool or play area for small children.

Nueces Street is a quiet street with plenty of parking (free after 6 and on Sundays) and feels light years away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is free parking under the building (assigned spot), and the building itself could not be any quieter. You will truly enjoy this downtown oasis!

If you are in town for a conference at the AT&T center, you will be happy to know it is only 6 easy blocks away.

Four blocks from the UT campus, eight blocks from the Erwin Center, eleven blocks or a $5-$7 cab ride to 6th street or the football stadium. The Austin Convention Center is just about a mile and a half away, for a leisurely stroll through downtown or a $7-$8 cab ride. Starbucks and Wells Fargo are 2 blocks in one direction, sandwich shops and pizza 2 blocks in the other. There is a 7-11 in both directions. Great Indian food and neighborhood pubs in easy walking distance. This home away from home is near everything you need!

(If you are here to explore ALL the sights in Austin, I recommend renting a car. Austin is a big city.)

A note on check-in and check-out - it's as easy as can be at Downtown Oasis. While I love meeting my guests, it doesn't always work out with changing schedules. You will be given the updated electronic lock code for the door a few days before your stay. So it is never a problem if you need to arrive late or leave early - there is a solution in place!

Please let me know how many people will be staying and if you need the futon bed made up in advance. There is no charge for extra guests (max 4) but it helps me allot enough time for cleaning and preparation when I have proper information.

*Downtown Oasis is right next door to Downtown Oasis 2, which is also my property. They are very similar in layout and identical in amenities.

  • Alexis is a great communicator, She contacted me several times to make sure things were going well. The apartment was well maintained and the extras were appreciated. The location was very quiet and we were able to sleep late every morning. We will definitely return to Alexis' Quiet Oasis.

  • The Downtown Oasis is a fantastic place to stay! My boyfriend and I just stayed there for a week and we had a wonderful experience. Alexis has put a lot of thought and effort into making sure that her guests will have everything they need. It's like staying in a nice hotel, only better -- free laundry, a fully-equipped kitchen that made it easy for us to cook a couple of meals, snacks and soda/water, information on the Austin area, extra bathroom products if you've forgotten anything, a Netflix account to use, and free WiFi. The location is great -- a couple of blocks away from the UT-Austin campus and the capitol building, close to downtown Austin, and close to several major bus lines so it makes getting to other parts of Austin very easy. Alexis makes herself available at any time and is quick to respond to messages. I highly recommend Downtown Oasis!

  • We absolutely loved this place! It was exactly what we needed for our stay in Austin! It was centrally located as advertised and close to everything. It was just a quick drive everywhere and it wasn't hard for a cab to find the property. The place is clean, updated and very comfortable. Alexis was very easy to reach and left a fridge full of drinks, some snacks and coffee for us, it was very helpful. The bathroom was fully stocked along with the shower. The was a free laundry room right next to the apartment, on the same floor and she provides detergent. We will definitely stay here again and we highly recommend it if you need a place in Austin!

  • Alexis was a wonderful host. She very accommodating and her place was beautiful! There were little magnets and snacks waiting for us, everything was very well laid out and clean.

The master bed was very comfy, the floor mattress was a little firm but, I like that so it worked out really well for me.

We came for SXSWedu and walked to the convention center everyday, it's a pretty easy 2 mile walk. We car2go'd everywhere else.

Alexis was super responsive and sweet, I would definitely stay here again!

  • Everything was great during our stay. Alexis had the couch made up and ready to use. Snacks and drinks were provided and came in handy as we were on the go and in and out the whole weekend.

Alexis also provided coffee, juice, and bagels - the perfect quick breakfast and energy support needed before heading out for a day in Austin.

The location was convenient for us. We did drive everywhere for our activities but were able to walk to Tiff's Treats for an end of day treat.

  • Alexis's home was wonderful. The apartment was very nice and the most organized place I have ever stayed. Alexis thought of everything to make the stay perfect. She even allowed us to use both parking spaces that she owns in the garage. I loved staying in her home and would 100% recommend it to anyone.

My passions range from books, movies, animals, and anything Austin to traveling the world. I've seen many of the great sights here in the U.S. and have also managed to visit Canda, Mexico, Australia, several places in the Caribbean, many countries in Europe, and a variety of countries in Asia. Singapore is probably my favorite country, but just to visit! I grew up in Connecticut and then migrated out to Austin in the 90s and ended up earning my MBA here at UT. After living in L.A., Houston, San Diego, and Seattle, I made my way back to Austin and am so happy to be back where I belong!
