Guest room in art loft in Chelsea. This listing is just for the guest room not the whole apartment. We are not interested in films made here, parties, events, or photo shoots so pls don't ask.

The space

The bedroom is in a large duplex loft in Manhattan/ Chelsea area next to Madison Square Park, few blocks from Empire State building and three blocks from The Highline.

The room is located in the back of the apartment therefore is very quiet. The apartment has three full baths one of them located next to the guest bedroom, that one is for the guests staying in the apartment, but it is Not totally private as it is adjacent to the family room/ library in the pictures so we use it during the day.

There is a key elevator that opens directly in to the apartment on the upper floor. Yes of course we provide towels, linens, toiletries ( soap, shampoo, toilet paper ), even toothbrush, toothpaste if you need and also a hairdryer. You are more than welcome to use the refrigerator and use the dishes and utensils if you bring ready made food to eat. For safety reasons, we request that there is No cooking involved, some people have left the gas burner on and left the apartment for the day. There is a coffee maker in the apartment and we stock on coffee which you can use. Sorry no expresso machine, must regular coffee.

While anyone who expresses interest in this listing will receive the courtesy of a response, we require that you have a complete profile (with a clear photo of you, where your face is visible, not your back or headless body or an avatar of you.

We also need that you have information about who you are in your profile and this is VERY important: in the e-mail you request, I need you to please tell us about you , who you are- full name, where do you work and reason for visiting town. If you are accompanied, I also need information about the person traveling with you ( name, profession, where does he/she live and relation with you). Sorry about this, it's that I do give priority to people who send me this info, it's my house after all and I have kids and expensive art here, I need to find out a bit more about you before you can stay with us. Sorry, but do prefer people with reviews from other hosts, if you don't have reviews, you really need to provide detailed info mentioned above. We do prefer just one guest in the apartment but it is possible to book for 2 people if you are sharing one room.

No check in before 8 AM and no later than 10 PM. There is a $75 fee for check-in after 11 PM and definitely we won't accept any check in after midnight, but unless your flight got delayed, you will know there is this additional fee.

Guest access

Kitchen, library-family room, dinning area which are all located in the upper floor of the apartment. The lower floor is off the premises for guests, its the private part of the apartment for the family. I will give you a tour of the rest of the apartment but is generally off limits for guests, the only exception is if you are a pianist and need to rehearse or just play or also if you come accompanied by your kids.

Interaction with guests

We love interacting with guests, get to meet them and also suggest places to go or any other information guest may need. You will also have as much privacy as you want, we don't impose ourselves but at the same time we are very friendly and accommodating.

Other things to note

If the booking is for one adult and a minor, we can waive the "second person additional fee. The apartment is not very conducive for very small children, there is a lot of art in the apartment and also the stairway and the balcony are not very safe for a child that is not used to this setting. We prefer that if any children, they should be above seven years old. We have 15 y.o twin boys and a small "schnoodle" dog that is extremely sweet ,quiet and friendly.

For security reasons and since we have children and valuable art in the apartment, there is a guest registration to be filled out, address and other info upon coming into the apartment.

You need to have reviews by other hosts before you can book in our place; otherwise you need to provide a very detailed e-mail request with your full name, place where you work, reasons to come to NY or why do you want to stay in our place. In any case, even if you have references, I do give preference to people who send a detail email request with all this info. Someone with not a full profile, no clear picture, and just a simple " hi I want to book your room" will be likely that I don't accept the request. Also if its two people looking to stay, I need to know who the other person is ( full name and also where do you live and profession).

We request that guests don't bring people to the apartment without first consulting it with us. We actually prefer that not guess other than the registered one comes over.

The place is incredible! Just as described it was near the subway, walking distance to Penn station. Unlike other places in NYC, very convenient early check in. Easy communication. Asher, the host, responded to messages right away, so getting to the right address and getting in was no problem. The room was good size for two people, quiet for usually noisy New York if we wanted to get some sleep. Asher also gave us tips and directions where to go and how to get there. Great, spacious, welcoming place. I cannot say enough! If this place is available next time i am in NYC will definitely book it again!

Lovely people in a GREAT location! The room is across the hall (overlooking an amazing living room below) from the kitchen, so it is not very private. But they were great hosts!

I was in NYC to visit friends and see a few shows, and Asher and Marc's loft was perfect for me while I was there. It is in a great location in Chelsea and beautifully designed and decorated. The guest room is on the back side of the loft (away from the street) so is very quiet. Asher and Marc were gracious hosts and I would definitely recommend this loft to anyone I knew traveling to NYC.

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay for our trip to NY. Close to a ton of restaurants, coffee shops, and even a Whole Foods. Subways are easily accessible and they made moving around the city a breeze. Definitely recommend staying here for a weekend trip!

Beautiful loft and great location. Asher and his family were wonderful. I actually felt like I lived there for a few days. Such a perfect home away from home. I may never stay anywhere else when I visit NY.

Really fantastic! We've never stayed in a place with the people who live there and were unsure what to expect. I couldn't be happier with our decision! Not only is the loft spacious, but it's beautiful and filled with wonderful art. The layout is perfect for guests to feel like they have privacy and the location is amazing! A great neighborhood in between Midtown and Lower Manhattan with easy access to anything and everything. Asher and his family could not have been more warm and welcoming to us, making us feel comfortable in their loft as soon as we arrived. And Ralph is seriously the most chill dog I have ever met.

I am a Producer of Art Projects and Advisor, I run my own organization called Hyphen Hub which focuses on art and technology. I'm originally from Colombia, but have been living in NY for close to thirty years, and have also lived in Europe and Asia. I am fluent in Spanish, English and Italian, understand basic French.

I live with my husband Marc who is a theater producer and also co-owns several restaurants and entertainment places, such 54 below, a nightclub Broadway cabaret. We live with our two 13 year old sons and Ralph our little schnooddle dog who is extremely quiet and friendly.

We are experienced travelers, spend long periods particularly in China but also elsewhere. We enjoy to entertain, regularly host events in our space, piano recitals, art events, art dinners, benefits, our place is a bit like Auntie Mame, I work from home therefore during the day there are artists that come by, it's a real NY experience but its not for everyone. We love to use airbnb for the good quality of people we get to meet, we are looking to host creative interesting individuals that appreciate the opportunity of being at a unique place in New York. It is not a hotel and we expect you don't treat it like that, it is a memorable experience and that's what we offer.
We prefer to host creative people and laid back.
