This is a lovely place to stay halfway between an apartment and a hotel room. It is the first floor of a three story with a private entrance and an exclusive driveway. Please read our glowing reviews.
Sausalito is a great place to spend a night...or a few decades (I came here for three months from NYC...twenty-five years ago).
If you're visiting San Francisco, this little village is right on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge...a charming alternative to big city hotels.
It's a convenient HQ for trips to SF with easy access to the California Coast and the Wine Country.
Nightly rates range from $99 for isolated single dates to over $200 for holidays and special events (when a minimum number of nights may be in effect).
This recently renovated modern unit is like a luxurious hotel suite:
A separate bedroom and closet behind french doors (shown open and closed in the photos) with a comfy queen-size bed (and an iron & ironing board).
A living area with a beautiful sectional, gas fireplace (ignited by a remote).
There's a small dining area and breakfast bar.
Bathroom with Jacuzzi tub (with a European-style hand-held shower head, not one mounted on the wall), bathroom sundries and separate WC.
It also has a big screen TV (with cable) in the main room and a second little TV/VHR/Cable in the bedroom, as well as WiFi.
There is no kitchen, but there is a mini-fridge, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee machine, coffee & tea, popcorn, condiments, serving supplies, and a private patio.
There is a driveway exclusive to the Suite which leads to the private entrance but most Guests prefer to park on the street which, unlike most Sausalito roads, is wide and flat. Some cars which are low to the ground (like my litttle convertible) can't cross the crest of the sidewalk, so it's good that there is ample street parking.
It is one beautiful floor, approximately 650 square feet, with an entrance off its own patio (with two tables). There's no lucious landscaping or pool, just a restful and private enclave.
I do my best to juggle the check-in and check-out time needs of the Guests, looking for a compromise between them to allow enough time for a thorough cleaning.
It's a half-block off Bridgeway (Sausalito's main drag), five stoplights to Highway 101 (five minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and less than an hour from the wine country) with a bus stop at the corner and off-street parking. A private driveway leads to your front door (if you don't have a low-slung car like I do). It's within walking distance of the Post Office, Grocery, Banks and Restaurants. Just minutes to SF and a short drive to the Redwoods, Beaches, and Wine Country. It is one mile to the Golden Gat Ferry which goes to downtown SF and The Blue & Gold Ferry which goes to Fisherman's Wharf.
It's a great getaway.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Interaction with Guests
I give a brief tour and then disappear. However, I strongly encourage Guests to text me or eMail me or call me if there is any problem at all.
The Suite is two blocks from an upscale supermarket and walking distance to a dozen restaurants, from Mexican to Chinese to French casual. Within one mile, there are over a dozen Italian, American, Thai, and Sushi Ran, one of the most-awarded Japanes restaurants in California.
There is a Golden Gate Transit bus stop on the corner (1/2 block) and the Ferry to San Francisco is one mile south.
Please provide your arrival and departure times as soon as possible so that I may accommodate your preferences if possible.
This was a very peaceful getaway with everything you need for a comfortable trip. Joseph couldn't have been more accommodating. Even though his previous residents hadn't checked out yet, he allowed us to leave our luggage so that it wouldn't have to be in our car at AT&T Park while we attended a game there. He furnished lots of complimentary snacks and extras that you don't find at most places. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on!
Joseph was a great host, very responsive from start to finish. The space was very cozy and modern, the tub was amazing, and the town is a charming location for a getaway. Thanks again!
From beginning to end my trip to Joseph's airbnb was wonderful. He was quick to respond and offered a very thorough and welcoming tour of this charming, cozy, and luxurious space. Everything from the complimentary snacks - HE HAD YOOHOO - to the jacuzzi tub, easy to use fire place and big flat screen made for a relaxing nights stay. If you're theater lovers wait until you see the collection of VHS and books he has on hand ! Definitely worth a trip to anyone wanting to check out Suasalito.
It was a very nice experience! Had an awesome time, the house is beautiful, neat and clean. Absolutely had no problems. It has a beautiful backyard. The location is perfect.
My 6th stay in this lovely space. Joseph goes overboard to be sure his guests are happy & have what they need. As a airbnb host myself I am very conscious of this. Couldn't say enough good about this special find. I'll be back :)
Sausalito is very charming and so is this basement apartment. It came complete with a living area, a dining table, a comfy couch, a tv, a bathroom, and a separate bedroom. Everything was very cozy, especially the fireplace on a cold day in Sausalito! Access to the downtown area was very easy, and there are great restaurants just blocks away! Joseph was a welcoming host! The only thing this apartment needs to make it perfect is a shower head - if you love baths, you'll enjoy the bathroom!
Joseph was very hospitable. He had a very clean and modern apartment. We loved our stay there and would not hesitate to rent from him again. Everything was as advertised. Joseph had every amenity that you'd expect from a hotel to include a refrigerator with drinks, snacks and a compliment of everything you'd need for a stay i.e. towels, shower shoes, tissues, extra pillows, shame, soap, cable tv, and others. The huge open window had a nice view of the natural surroundings making it very cozy. The bed was incredible and very comfortable. I would not hesitate to rent from Joseph again. Thank you!
