About this listing
This is a lovely place to stay, just minutes from San Francisco. Halfway between an apartment and a hotel suite, it is the 1st floor of a 3 story building with a private entrance and an exclusive driveway.
Please read our numerous glowing reviews.
Sausalito is a great place to spend a night...or a few decades (I came here for three months from NYC...twenty-five years ago).
If you're visiting San Francisco, this little village is right on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge...a charming alternative to big city hotels.
It's a convenient HQ for trips to SF with easy access to the California Coast and the Wine Country.
Nightly rates range from $99 for isolated single dates to over $200 for holidays and special events (when a minimum number of nights may be in effect).
This recently renovated modern unit is like a luxurious hotel suite:
A separate bedroom and closet behind french doors (shown open and closed in the photos) with a comfy queen-size bed (and an iron & ironing board).
A living area with a beautiful sectional, gas fireplace (ignited by a remote).
There's a small dining area and breakfast bar.
Bathroom with Jacuzzi tub (with a European-style hand-held shower head, not one mounted on the wall), bathroom sundries and separate WC.
It also has a big screen TV (with cable) in the main room and a second little TV/VHR/Cable in the bedroom, as well as WiFi.
There is no kitchen, but there is a mini-fridge, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee machine, coffee & tea, popcorn, condiments, serving supplies, and a private patio.
There is a driveway exclusive to the Suite which leads to the private entrance but most Guests prefer to park on the street which, unlike most Sausalito roads, is wide and flat. Some cars which are low to the ground (like my litttle convertible) can't cross the crest of the sidewalk, so it's good that there is ample street parking.
It is one beautiful floor, approximately 650 square feet, with an entrance off its own patio (with two tables). There's no lucious landscaping or pool, just a restful and private enclave.
I do my best to juggle the check-in and check-out time needs of the Guests, looking for a compromise between them to allow enough time for a thorough cleaning.
It's a half-block off Bridgeway (Sausalito's main drag), five stoplights to Highway 101 (five minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and less than an hour from the wine country) with a bus stop at the corner and off-street parking. A private driveway leads to your front door (if you don't have a low-slung car like I do). It's within walking distance of the Post Office, Grocery, Banks and Restaurants. Just minutes to SF and a short drive to the Redwoods, Beaches, and Wine Country. It is one mile to the Golden Gat Ferry which goes to downtown SF and The Blue & Gold Ferry which goes to Fisherman's Wharf.
It's a great getaway.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Interaction with Guests
I give a brief tour and then disappear. However, I strongly encourage Guests to text me or eMail me or call me if there is any problem at all.
The Suite is two blocks from an upscale supermarket and walking distance to a dozen restaurants, from Mexican to Chinese to French casual. Within one mile, there are over a dozen Italian, American, Thai, and Sushi Ran, one of the most-awarded Japanes restaurants in California.
There is a Golden Gate Transit bus stop on the corner (1/2 block) and the Ferry to San Francisco is one mile south.
Please provide your arrival and departure times as soon as possible so that I may accommodate your preferences if possible.
Great stay in this cozy beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated place. Joseph is very meticulous about cleaning and gave great restaurant and freeway travel advice.
Lots of space to spread out and work, relax and sleep.
Nice touch to have snacks and assorted drinks available.
Light sleepers: bring earplugs as you will hear the noise on the floor one level above the bed.
Location is near some good restaurants. We recommend AVATAR for healthy Indian fusion with a very entertaining owner.
Joseph's place was so beautiful... stunningly appointed with so many light features and recessed lighting. I appreciated the two closets and how wonderful to find a washer and dryer.
Joseph and his partner were both so friendly and helpful. They tried to get the pilot going on the fireplace without luck but found a repair man who was scheduled to come after I left and Joseph gave me a slight refund for this unavailable feature... very appreciated. I would definitely love to rent this space again!!!
So this was mine and my boyfriends first experience with airbnb, we were having a hard time finding any hotels or B&B's available. We waited too long to find a place, with it being his graduation and going crazy planning everything else. We just dropped the ball, well after my bf mentioned this site and I checked it out, Josephs place stood out from the rest!
#1 It was totally amazing and cozy and romantic, exactly what we were looking for!
#2 Price was so competitive, extremely reasonable for a night with all these amenities and location.
#3 Last but not least; FLEX, Joseph was so generous by allowing us to arrive pretty late after the Grad dinner, he was so nice and this was by far the best weekend we've had.
My favorite part was the heated for tiles, so heavenly!!
Thank you Joseph for allowing us this stay and on top of that erasing the stress from late arrival to help make the weekend the best we've ever had!
We hope to do this again and perhaps next time we'll get a chance to see the deer that Joseph mentioned came by to visit.
The host was welcoming and even let us check in early. He provided a number of complimentary snacks. He stayed above us but the place was fairly private. Overall, the place was small but it worked for the two of us. I would recommend this place for those looking to stay in Sausalito! Walking distance to downtown.
This listing was exactly as advertised. Joseph was very easy to communicate with in setting up my stay and helpful in getting settled with snacks and toiletries. The location is very quiet and peaceful.
The suite was lovely and very private. It looks even better than the pictures! Every detail made us feel like home. The snacks and minibar were a nice surprise. The bed and the couch were very comfy and the Jacuzzi tub worked great, exactly what we needed after a long day exploring all what Marin County has to offer. The location was very convenient on a quiet street with plenty of parking and just a block from a grocery store and the Sausalito harbor. Joseph was very nice and communicative prior and during check in, taking the time to explain us how everything works. Then, he disappeared letting us have our own private time. I would recommend anyone exploring the Bay Area to stay here. Great value for a luxury space. I will definitely stay here again. Thanks Joseph!
Joseph was very welcoming and accommodating, we had a great time. The place was just as described -- clean, well equipped, comfortable.
