This is a lovely place to stay halfway between an apartment and a hotel room.
Sausalito is a great place to spend a night...or a few decades (I came here for three months from NYC...twenty-five years ago).
If you're visiting San Francisco, this little village is right on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge...a charming alternative to big city hotels.
It's a convenient HQ for trips to SF with easy access to the California Coast and the Wine Country.
Nightly rates range from $99 for isolated single dates to $200 for holidays.
This recently renovated modern unit is like a luxurious hotel suite:
A separate bedroom and closet behind french doors (shown open and closed in the photos) with a comfy queen-size bed (and an iron & ironing board).
A living area with a beautiful sectional, gas fireplace (ignited by a remote).
There's a small dining area and breakfast bar.
Bathroom with Jacuzzi tub (with a European-style hand-held shower head, not one mounted on the wall), bathroom sundries and separate WC.
It also has a big screen TV (with cable) in the main room and a second little TV/VHR/Cable in the bedroom, as well as WiFi.
There is no kitchen, but there is a mini-fridge, washer/dryer, microwave, coffee machine, coffee & tea, popcorn, condiments, serving supplies, and a private patio.
There is a driveway exclusive to the Suite which leads to the private entrance but most Guests prefer to park on the street which, unlie most Sausalito roads, is wide and flat. Some cars which are low to the ground (like my litttle convertible) can't cross the crest of the sidewalk, so it's good that there is ample street parking.
It is one beautiful floor, approximately 650 square feet, with an entrance off its own patio (with two tables). There's no lucious landscaping or pool, just a restful and private enclave.
I do my best to juggle the check-in and check-out time needs of the Guests, looking for a compromise between them to allow enough time for a thorough cleaning.
It's a half-block off Bridgeway (Sausalito's main drag), five stoplights to Highway 101 (five minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge and less than an hour from the wine country) with a bus stop at the corner and off-street parking. A private driveway leads to your front door (if you don't have a low-slung car like I do). It's within walking distance of the Post Office, Grocery, Banks and Restaurants. Just minutes from SF by car or ferry, it's a great getaway.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Interaction with Guests
I give a brief tour and then disappear. However, I strongly encourage Guests to text me or eMail me or call me if there is any problem at all.
The Suite is two blocks from an upscale supermarket and walking distance to a dozen restaurants, from Mexican to French casual.
There is a Golden Gate Transit bus stop on the corner (1/2 block) and the Ferry to San Francisco is one mile south.
Please provide your arrival and departure times as soon as possible so that I may accommodate your preferences if possible.
Joseph was a very hospitable host and was very helpful in finding the nearest store to the house. The apartment was very nice and comfortable. Very accessible to Sausalito stores and restaurants. We parked the car and walked / rode our bikes to everything we wanted to do.
I highly recommend this suite as an alternative to staying in a hotel. It is beautifully decorated and very private. The neighborhood is friendly and in close proximity to downtown Sausalito and convenient to travel to San Francisco. The host, Joseph, was very kind and willing to give us advice on the area. He really puts a lot of effort into making his guests feel welcome. When we come back, we will definitely want to stay here again.
Our host was there and welcomed us in. The apartment was just as advertised, private and in the host's basement, looking out onto a grassy yard surrounded by a fence and shrubbery. Our favorite accommodation was the jacuzzi in the bathroom and the glamorous black decor. All in all a pleasant stay at a reasonable price. Amenities were fine (coffee, snacks, bottled water, soaps etc). The bed linens could use replacement - they were a bit worn. But all in all a delightful stay, close to the ferry and downtown Sausalito.
Our stay at the luxurious suite was amazing. The service that Joseph provided was out of this world. Thank you so much!
It was an amazing stay. I hate to write a great review because I fear it will become so popular we wont be able to get in again. We loved the easy of location and the nice elegant but homey feeling. we could have spent a week there. We were greeted quickly and after a short walk through and familiarization with the suite we were left alone. Check out was much easier than I had imagined and we were reluctantly on our way back home Thank you so much. We will be back
I had an amazing time at Joseph's suite in Sausalito! The place was very clean and accommodating - the bath was incredible! Certainly a must if you're looking for a spot in Sausalito
