The Space

Hello new friends! :)

Private room AND bathroom with 2 twin size beds and 1 pull out full size couch (sleeps 3-4 people) with fresh linens and towels.

2 BLOCKS FROM THE TRAIN! Plenty of bus lines.

Located in Lincoln Park/Lakeview which is a very SAFE and FUN neighborhood located close to downtown and great public transportation. One of Chicago's most popular, bustling and gorgeous neighborhoods with tree-lined streets and million dollar houses.

3 BLOCKS FROM THE TRAIN! (Can I get a wooohoo!?) There are also a ton of buses, bars, awesome shopping, and endless things to do! I'm a 20 minute walk to the lake (or 5 minutes if you have a car).

I WORK FROM HOME, SO CHECK IN SHOULD BE A BREEZE! :) Just let me know when you plan on arriving/departing and I'll make sure to be around when you arrive.

Don't be scared by the gloomy entrance. This room IS located in our basement, but the bedroom and bathroom are clean and cozy. It's also nice and cool down there which is perfect for our hot summers! Your room also has a fan in it and space heater. I live upstairs just in case you need anything.

We are centrally located between downtown and Wrigley Field (North Side). Easy to get to whether you are taking public transportation or a car. You'll be able to get to both within 5-15 minutes.

-Room includes use of a microwave, kettle, mini fridge, fan and space heater.
-Tea, coffee and silverware are provided and are FREE!
-Extra blankets and pillows
-Shampoo/conditioner, soap, and body wash are included
-Blocks from Depaul University, Facets Multimedia & Lincoln Park Zoo. I'm also very close to Second City and Wrigley Field (Go Cubbies!).
-Easy street parking (permit from 6pm-6am, but we have parking passes).
-Hailing a taxi in this neighborhood is pretty darn easy or I can give you the number to call a cab.
-I can do your laundry upstairs upon request.
-2 Dry Cleaners right around the corner.

If I have back-to-back reservations, I may ask that you check out no later than 11am, and for the next guest to check in after 12pm so that I have enough time to clean. But I am flexible and will try to work with everyone's schedule. Your are always welcome to drop off your luggage before your check in time, or leave it here during the day so that you can explore and come back for it later.

Guests will have their own private entrance. Room is separate from the rest of the house.

I will check you in, otherwise unless you need something, you probably won't see me again. I try to give you your privacy. :)

  • My husband and daughter stayed here for the 4th of July weekend and they loved it. Marie was very nice. We communicated all thru the reservation process and after very attentive.

  • Our flight ended up being delayed for two hours and Marie was great about it! The space was everything we needed: clean, quiet and close to the train. Will definitely stay here if I'm in town again.

  • I came to Chicago to take a weeklong writing course. I needed a place that was quiet and private to do my homework, close to the train to get to the course and in a neighbourhood that I felt safe and close to shopping. It filled all my expectations. It was like I had my own private suite. It even had a fridge, microwave, kettle and desk so I could store and eat food.
Marie was a great host and always available to answer any questions.

  • My sister and I had a wonderful, two night stay at Marie's place. The place was just the perfect size us. Marie greeted us when we pulled up to her place; we had a wonderful conversation. The location of this place is just perfect. Neighborhood bars are close, and the train is just a block away to get to downtown.

  • For my first Airbnb booking, this was a great find! Marie was a very pleasant host. We exchanged a few messages after booking and then spoke a few times via telephone on the day of my arrival. She met me out front to give me a parking sticker for the night and then to show me to the room and "check me in." Since this room has a private entrance (huge plus!!) I did not run into her again during my stay but I didn't need to as I had everything that I needed.

The location is a beautiful street in a beautiful neighborhood within walking distance of nice restaurants and pubs as well as the brown and red lines. So, basically perfect!

The room was as advertised and wonderful. The room had all of the amenities you would expect from a hotel - microwave, refrigerator, coffee/hot pot and desk. Marie even lent me an iron (thanks!). I was by myself and slept in one of the twin beds. It was very comfortable and I slept well. There is a couch and love seat in the room for sitting but I didn't spend much time in the room except for sleeping. I really loved the setup of the room as it is built out in the basement with the private entrance. This really is a great feature at sets this apart from other listings that I looked at.

In summary - great host, great location, great room, great value! I will book again if available! Thanks, Marie!

  • We really enjoyed our stay with Marie!
Marie is a great host! She waited for us and provided us with very usefull information about Chicago and places to go. The room is nice and clean with a private entrance and the luxury of an own bathroom. I sat in the garden for a couple of hours reading and enjoying the sun. Beautiful neighbourhood! We definitly would come back!!!

  • Marie's room was spacious, clean and came with laundry service. Well done.

  • My brother and I stayed at Marie's place on our cross country road trip from Boston to Seattle. She was gracious enough to accept us for the night even though we made a same day request. The neighborhood that she lives in is called Lakeview and has a lot of great restaurants and bars. For breakfast, we found a delicious bakery on Belmont street called Bittersweet. The L train was conveniently only a few blocks away and we were able to take it from the Belmont station down to Millennium park.

I can highly recommend Marie as a host. The room was exactly as described and we had our own bathroom.

  • My mom & I got in late but Marie was very accommodating. The host was very friendly and kept in touch often to see where we were on our trip. The room was clean and comfortable and thankfully the little space heater kept the room warm. The CTA train was very close by but unfortunately we had to take a taxi to the airport because of time issues so that ended up costing over $30. The room is on the very bottom level of the townhouse and it's private but a bit different being in the basement. The beds were comfortable enough & the room was perfect for two people. I would add snacks, and more drinks to the room. I would stay here again but the price should be a little lower.

    Response from Marie:

Although Robin and her mother were pretty good guests for 1 night, I would like to emphasize that she should have read the description of the room and know what was/or not included. She arrived VERY late around 12am, instead of much earlier as planned. I do work during the day, so an earlier check in would have been appreciated, unless a late check in was initially planned. I do provide free coffee & tea, a kettle, mini fridge and microwave with the room. All of the necessary items are there for you to make yourself food, and bring left overs home. However, I do not provide food, and that is not in the room listing. The room rate is also a steal for my location (extremely safe and lively neighborhood, 2 blocks from the train, walking/biking distance to the lake, and 15 minutes from downtown). The size and quality of the room are excellent and it also has a private entrance and a private bathroom. It's like a suite all to yourself. I also gave her the number to a cab for the morning and told her that it would cost her $40 if she didn't take the train to the airport (this is also in my email that I send everyone prior to check in so that you can plan the cost of your travels). I am very helpful and courteous, but just please realize that I am not a bed and breakfast. Thank you everyone!

  • This private room and bathroom were ideal for my visit. Quiet and private. I came in late at night without bothering anyone. It has all the essentials as a room goes, plus Marie's communication was great. She had clear, reasonable and easy to follow guest guidelines. I needed a supply for the room while I was there and she was responsive right away. The location can't be beat! I would definitely prioritize this location next time I need a room in Chicago!

I'm a pretty chill but fun person. I'm a fashion designer and manage my online company from home. I love traveling, exploring, and people who can throw back a beer and have a good laugh. I'm a pretty physically active person, and I love to snowboard and sail. Ok, I'll pretty much do anything that involves snow or water, but hang gliding is next on my list! Don't let the fashion bling fool you, I like to get my hands dirty too. :)
