Tucked beside 400+ acres of National Park and just three blocks from the ocean, the Wedge House offers a soul-soothing blend of minimalist design and playful 70s spirit. Designed for couples craving simplicity, beauty, and a breath of fresh air, the Wedge House invites you to truly unwind.

The space
The Wedge House is a passion project designed from the ground up as a modern minimalist escape - everything you need right now, and nothing you don’t. The airy light-filled open studio concept has soaring ceilings with high windows placed to catch the sun. The soothing space faces into the forest and is complemented with handpicked vintage Scandinavian mid-century and 70’s era furnishings. The Wedge is a manifestation of the artist/designer/owner's obsession with craft - from the entry facade finished in the ancient Japanese charred-wood preservation technique of shou sugi ban, to the interior trim work with locally harvested cypress hand-milled on site - nearly every board has a story to tell.

- A turntable with audiophile soundsystem and a growing vinyl collection.
- Magical outdoor shower under a live oak strung with twinkle lights
- Fully stocked kitchen with range/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and everything you need for your favorite meal prep

Guest access
This is a stand-alone, single-family home, and you'll have private access to the entire property which sits on a large lot backing up to the Wright Memorial National Park. In addition to the 650 square foot Wedge House, guests will enjoy the outdoor spaces including a sun deck, patio with firepit and gas grill, and our outdoor shower under a pretty live oak tree. You may literally walk out the backyard and hike to the top of the Wright Brothers National Memorial for sunset. There are nearby bike paths linking to the both the soundfront, oceanfront, as well as craft breweries and restaurants.

Neighborhood highlights

The Wedge House is in a residential neighborhood centrally located just three blocks from the beach, and on the edge of a National Park. You may walk, bike, or drive to the nearest beach access in minutes, passing our favorite deli/beach goods shop and a Dairy Queen. The Publix grocery store is a 3-min drive, Harris Teeter 5-min, and a multitude of nearby restaurants and two craft breweries. We have a guest book full of our favorites waiting for you at the Wedge.

We are a family of artists and surfers who left the hustle of downtown DC in search of a quieter existence with waves, wind, and open skies. We love hosting, and are dedicated to creating and offering the most unique Airbnb properties found on the Outer Banks. We love sharing both the Treefrog Tower and Hello Bungalow, and are constantly looking for ways to create the very best and most memorable experiences for our guests. We've traveled extensively internationally and domestically and love staying in other Airbnbs for our travels. We love sharing this big beautiful world and it's people with our little one, and feel that unique cultural experiences are among the most valuable things we can share with her.
