The Space

There is some construction going on next door so I am lowering my rates for a few months. It is always quiet by mid afternoon.
We are 3 blocks west of Lincoln just one half block south of Rose and 6 blocks to the beach. Whole Foods is just around the corner.
Rose Avenue is the newest hotspot in the area so there are restaurants, yoga and shopping at the end of my block.
Abbot Kinney is quite near, as is Santa Monica and Marina del Rey. Its a short cab ride from LAX.
The apt has skylights, wood and tile floors and a wonderful shower. The kitchen is well equipped and sparkling clean.
The garden area is lovely and the beach is just great! The space is interesting with a covered deck that works as extra room.
There is public transportation on Lincoln Blvd and Main St. both just a four minute walk from here.
There is plenty of street parking but please be careful on Mondays and Tuesdays and read the signs for street cleaning or you will be ticketed.
There is pay laundry on the property.I have bicycles to lend that everyone loves.
It is possible to have four people here,

Guest Access

The apartment is private. There is a laundry room next to the yellow house. It takes 8 quarters to wash and 6 to dry.

Interaction with Guests

I usually try to meet everyone the first day or two so they know where I am and can ask if they need anything.

The Neighborhood

There is lots to do and see around here. The biggest attraction is the beach just a short distance to the west. The restaurants and shopping are the next big draw. It is very convenient here to get around the rest of LA as well.

Getting around

Yes there are busses on Lincoln or Main street.

Other Things to Note

If you have a car don;t park on the wrong side of the street from 8 to 10 am on either Monday or Tuesday.

  • Alice was a wonderful host! The instructions she provided were very clear, and we didn't have any problems/trouble with our booking, arrival, stay, and departure.

She was very honest about the construction going on next door, and even offered us some compensation in price as a result. The place could be a little bit loud on the weekend nights, but hey! you're in Venice Beach, so what do you expect?

The location cannot be beat! The biggest Whole Foods you can imagine just minutes walk one way, and Venice Beach the other.

The place was definitely a bit on the small side (perhaps a little bit cozier than it appeared in photos), but honestly, it was all that we needed. The shower was fantastic, the gas stove a good touch, and dining table we could spread out on (when we needed to work).

It was super convenient not to have to worry about key issues, and although we didn't have time to take advantage of the free bikes, that was also a nice touch.

Highly recommend Alice's pad to those of you looking for an excellent location in the heart of Venice Beach -- we loved it!

  • Neighborhood is really nice. Cafes are at the end of the street and Main st is only a short walk away.

Host, Alice, is very nice and friendly. There is a washing machine outside in a secure shed near the accommodation and there is also secure parking with a gate for 1 or two cars.

Bed was very comfortable. In total there was one very comfortable queen size, one comfortable king-single and then a make-shift single that folds up like a taco. It was the least comfortable but not too bad. The last 2 mentioned beds are in the same room with the kitchen and the queen bed is in it's own room.

    Recommended host and accommodation.

Make sure to read the description clearly.

  • We had a great 2nd visit at Alice's place in Venice. It was short (4days) but the location is perfect. Alice was very helpful in taking care of our 3 motorcycles (she offered us a space in her private garage) and in our wellbeing. The guesthouse has lots of nice spots around on Rose Avenue and great coffee at Groundwork Coffee (2 minute walk).

  • Alice's 2nd story guesthouse was an enjoyable and comfortable place to stay. I especially liked how bright it was inside and enjoyed the deck to sit with my laptop. It's cozy inside and outside in a charming area - despite the nearby construction which was not a problem at all to us. Alice was a lovely host and responsive to my questions. I would definitely consider staying there again and really want to rate it 4 1/2 stars - more than a 4 by my picky standards!

  • Alice's place was exactly what we wanted, in a great neighborhood close to restaurants and a short walk to Venice beach. The apartment was great and we felt we had a little experience of living in LA.

  • The host was very nice. She helped us settle. Neighborhood is very interesting. There are plenty of restaurants. The walk to the beach as well as to the public transportation is relatively short. The place itself is not very big which was not unexpected in the LA area.

  • My family and I had a great stay at Alice's guest house. The courtyard area is really cute. The neighborhood was quiet and down the street from a great Mexican restaurant. She was always pleasant and helpful when we had questions. We would definitely stay at Alice's again.

I also love ballroom dancing and in the summer, here in Venice, I like to bodysurf. I have extra wetsuits and flippers if you want to go along. If I can help make your stay more fun-just let me know and I will try my best. So far everyone has loved the property and its location is excellent.
